The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3402ZA) is one of the most elegant and premium-looking ultrabooks we have reviewed in recent times. The device comes packed in a chassis that is made of aluminium alloy, with the ASUS logo etched on the lid using a bunch of lines.

The Zenbook 14 OLED is available in two different colours such as Ponder Blue and Aqua Celadon. We received the Ponder Blue variant which also features an anti-fingerprint coating on its body.

Opening up the lid reveals a 14-inch 2.8K OLED HDR NanoEdge touchscreen that offers an aspect ratio of 16:10. The laptop features 2.8mm bezels, thus offering a screen-to-body ratio of 90%. The display also offers a resolution of 2880-by-1800 pixels, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 0.2ms response time and a 90Hz refresh rate.

The display is also VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certified. In addition, the display also supports a peak brightness of up to 600 nits and 0.0005 nits of deep black brightness – this means content creators will have no problems when working on the colour correction of their content.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED also comes with a 180° hinge. This means you can lay the laptop flat on a table for watching content for example. The colours reproduced on this device’s display were rich and vivid.

The Zenbook 14 OLED is part of the ASUS OLED laptops range and hence the display supports cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. In addition, it is certified for low blue light emission thus keeping you safe from fatigue for instance.

In terms of I/O ports, you get a variety of selections. On the left edge, you get a USB3.2 Gen2 port. On the right edge, you get an HDMI 2.0 port, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, a Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C port, and a microSD card slot.

Under the hood, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED comes packed with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P processor running at a clock speed of 2.10-GHz.

This is coupled with 16GB of RAM and 1TB PCIe of 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 SSD. Graphics are handled by Intel Iris Xe graphics and the laptop has been built using the Intel Evo platform. For wireless connectivity, you get Dual-band WiFi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2.

In the past, ScreenXpert 2.0 was used as an application to support and assist ASUS dual-screen models. However, now the brand new ScreenXpert 3.0 supports general single-screen models of ASUS laptops, providing users of ASUS laptops with a more efficient experience when dealing with multi-window-related operations. The single-screen version of ScreenXpert 3.0 features APP Switcher, App Navigator, and Camera & Microphone switcher. This can be enabled in the My ASUS software.

The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED also comes with an ErgoLift hinge design which results in the ErgoSense keyboard automatically tilting when the laptop is opened. This design allows users to type more comfortably and increases the ventilation space under the chassis for improved heat dissipation.

The keyboard of the Zenbook 14 OLED series achieves a 19.05mm pitch and offers many commonly used function keys, allowing you to type comfortably. The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED also comes with the NumberPad 2.0. This is an LED-illuminated numeric keypad, which has been integrated into the touchpad.

A single-touch sensor at the top right of the touchpad turns NumberPad on and off, and a tap on the icon at the top left lets you choose one of two brightness levels. In addition, you can also swipe from the top left icon in any direction on the NumberPad 2.0 to activate the Calculator app on the main display.

The speakers on this laptop have been tuned by Harman Kardon and the dual speakers also support Dolby Atmos. The laptop is powered by a 75Wh battery and the laptop weighs just 1.39-kgs.

In our tests, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED performed really well. In Cinebench Single Core tests, it scored 1692 points, while in the Multi-Core tests, it scored 10257 points. In recent years, the demand for lightweight, high-performance laptops has been increasing. Users are craving portable laptops to satisfy their needs for mobile work – whether they’re working in open areas, on the road, or on business trips. In addition, they also value display quality, as well as the laptop’s performance to ensure it copes with the heavy workload on-hand.

Taking this into consideration, HUAWEI has just announced its new MateBook X Pro to the regional market that answers the very same issues mobile professionals face today. The MateBook X Pro features a top-notch design and a solid build quality. It is available in two different variants when it comes to the laptop’s chassis. Just above the display, you will find a 720P camera for your video conferencing requirements. The MateBook X Pro comes with a full-size backlit chiclet keyboard, which offers a brilliant 1.5 mm key travel that makes for a satisfying typing experience. The power button meanwhile also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.

The HUAWEI Free Touch touchpad has some tricks up its sleeve. Sliding up and down on the left edge of the touchpad controls the brightness while sliding up and down on the right edge of the touchpad controls the volume. Sliding left and right on the top edge of the touchpad will allow you to fast-forward or rewind a video.

In addition, you can take a screenshot by clicking with one finger on the touchpad, while clicking once with two fingers on the touchpad would start a screen recording session. The touch experience is comfortable to use because the surface of the touchpad is covered by a piece of glass. In addition, the Air gestures are now available in the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro, supporting three gestures. These include air scroll left and right, air scroll up and down, and air press.

In terms of audio performance, the MateBook X Pro is HUAWEI Sound certified and comes packed with six speakers and four microphones. When it comes to the I/O ports, you get two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left edge, two USB-C ports on the right edge and a 3.5 mm headset and microphone combo jack.

Since HUAWEI also bundles a Type-C to Type-A dongle, you can use regular USB drives with the laptop. Wireless connectivity support includes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The laptop also derives its power from a 60 Wh battery.

Under the hood, the MateBook X Pro comes packed with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P Processor, which is based on the new EVO architecture. You also get 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, and 1TB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage. Graphics are handled by Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

The MateBook X Pro also supports HUAWEI’s multiscreen collaboration technology. By tapping the MateBook X Pro icon, you can activate the Multi-screen Collaboration. You can edit phone files directly on your laptop by using the PC software and the display. In order to use this feature, however, you will need to log in with your HUAWEI ID on the PC Manager app on the MateBook X Pro.

With Super Device and Multi-Screen Collaboration, you can increase productivity with very minimal effort. You can freely connect different devices as required and use them as if you were using a single device. The overall performance of the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro is very good. Battery life was also quite good and if you do see yourself running out of battery, you can take the advantage of the 90W Super-Fast Charging technology.

If you are a mobile professional who is always on the move and are looking for an ultra-light laptop with excellent performance, you cannot go wrong with the HUAWEI Matebook X Pro.
