Dell Technologies Says Most Businesses Feel Threatened by Digital Startups

Published

on

A new research from Dell Technologies says that 85 percent of businesses believe digital startups will pose a threat to their organization, either now or in the future. This phenomenon is propelling innovative companies forward and accelerating the demise of others. Almost half (45 percent) of businesses surveyed fear they may become obsolete in the next three to five years due to competition from digital-born start-ups.

Some companies are feeling badly bruised by the pace of change. More than half (54 percent) of business leaders have experienced significant disruption in their industries over the past three years as a result of digital technologies and the Internet of Everything, and 44 percent of businesses don’t know what their industry will look like in three years’ time.

The findings result from an independent survey by Vanson Bourne of 4,000 business leaders – from mid-size to large enterprises – across 16 countries and 12 industries including UAE and Saudi Arabia. Some companies have barely started their digital transformation. Many have taken a piecemeal approach. Only a small minority have almost completed their digital transformation.

Only 7 percent of businesses surveyed are performing critical digital business attributes well. While only parts of many businesses are thinking and acting digitally, the vast majority (71 percent) admits digital transformation could be more widespread throughout their organization.

Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) confess to not acting on intelligence in real-time. Only 41 percent of businesses reported to meet customers top demand for better security, while only 46 percent of businesses said they can meet the demand for 24/7 faster access to services and information.

Dell Technologies’ Digital Transformation Index supplements the research and rates companies based on respondents’ perceived performance about their firms’ digital transformation. According to the benchmark, only 4 percent of businesses in UAE and Saudi Arabia have catapulted themselves into the Digital Leaders group.

  1. Digital Leaders: 4 percent – digital transformation, in its various forms, is ingrained in the DNA of the business
  2. Digital Adopters: 13 percent – have a mature digital plan, investments and innovations in place
  3. Digital Evaluators: 35 percent – cautiously and gradually embracing digital transformation, planning and investing for the future
  4. Digital Followers: 37 percent – very few digital investments; tentatively starting to plan for the future
  5. Digital Laggards: 11 percent – do not have a digital plan, limited initiatives and investments in place

Given the acute threat of disruption, businesses are starting to escalate a remedy. To advance their digital transformation:

  • 73 percent agree they need to prioritize a centralized technology strategy for their business
  • 64 percent are planning to invest in IT infrastructure and digital skills leadership
  • 69 percent are expanding their software development capabilities

In order of priority according to respondents, the top planned IT investments over the next three years are:

Internet of Things technologies- 43 percent

Ultra-high performance technologies (Example: Flash) – 42 percent

Analytics, big data and data processing (Example: Data Lakes) – 42 percent

Next Generate Mobile Apps – 41 percent

“We’re in the midst of the next industrial revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work and relate to one another. This shift will transform the way every business in every industry operates. We are already witnessing a transformation of business priorities as both public and private sector entities across this vast region continue to invest in advanced new technologies to better meet changing customer needs and expectations. In the near future, almost every business will have software development expertise at its core. Many of these companies will be brand new; others – having not written a line of code in 20 years – will have been on a momentous journey. New digital products and services will drive the transformation of IT infrastructure as businesses struggle to manage 1000x more users and 1000x more data. We believe that this monumental change is rich with opportunity, and we see ourselves as the transformational catalyst, and partner, for our customers,” said Mohammed Amin, Senior Vice President, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East at Dell EMC.

200 of the World’s Best Supercars, Motorbikes and Classics Cars Participate in #NoFilterDXB’s Supercar Parade

Published

The Dubai Supercar Parade proved the city’s insatiable appetite for glamour and amazing lifestyles remains as strong as ever today, with a sensational multi-million dollar motorcade of more than 200 supercars, motorbikes, and custom cars touring Dubai Harbour, JBR and JLT on the final day of the inaugural #NOFILTERDXB. One of the main highlights of #NOFILTERDXB – the super trendy four-day festival celebrating Dubai’s enduring passion for urban lifestyle and motoring culture – the Dubai Supercar Parade was held as part of nation-wide celebrations leading up to next week’s 50th UAE National Day.

Tapping into the country’s forthcoming Golden Jubilee celebrations, Gargash Motors led the convoy with the all-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 UAE GOLDEN JUBILEE Edition – one of only 50 ever made – that launched at #NOFILTERDXB earlier this week. “It was really exciting to lead the Parade in the Mercedes-AMG G 63 UAE Golden Jubilee Edition to commemorate the UAE’s 50th anniversary. With the Parade capturing the spirit of the nation’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, this was the perfect car to head the amazing convoy of supercars,” said Alen Bedrossian, Marketing Manager, Gargash Mercedes-Benz.

Khalid Al Mulla, the Founder & President of Group 63 – one of the world’s largest AMG clubs with over 198,000 members, and a major exhibitor of super and custom cars at #NOFILTERDXB – piloted an iconic red Jannarelly D1 Trofeo through the Parade. “It’s truly amazing to be part of #NOFILTERDXB. What an unbelievable fleet of cars and the November weather was perfect for a morning cruise. If I had to pick a favourite car from the Parade, the matt black Bugatti Chiron would be my choice – it’s gorgeous,” said Al Mulla.

With the Parade fleet driven by members of local automotive clubs and private owners, Noor Daoud, the Middle East’s first female drift racer, sprinkled girl power on proceedings by flagging the convoy off at Dubai Harbour, before jumping in a white Lamborghini Aventador to join the Parade. “I am very blessed, happy and grateful to be here. It is my first time to flag off a Parade and it means so much that #NOFILTERDXB had their trust in me. Dubai is well-known for luxurious supercars, but how they managed to line up this huge number of cars and bikes was unbelievable. You will never find this in any other country in the world,” said Daoud.

Local automobile clubs came out in their droves to support the Parade, with a dozen owners from the Dodge Viper Club GTSs, SRTs, and GTS-Rs to the fold, while the Porsche 9ers Club joined in with a series of 911s, GT3s and GT3Rs. “We had over 30 of our members here for the Parade. I drove a 911.2 Turbo S and had my wife along for the ride. What #NOFILTERDXB has done is amazing, bringing the city’s car community together outside in the beautiful November weather was so special. People were seeing cars they would never normally see; a Bugatti Chiron Sport 110 just crept by – it’s incredible and a bit surreal, even for us petrol heads,” said Adnan Malik, a British national who founded the “coffee and cars” focused 9ers in 2019.

With thousands of spectators lining the Parade route to get up-close to the throng of super and high-performance cars by Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lambourgini, McLaren, Porsche, an eye-popping collection of motorbikes by Aprilla, BMW, Ducatti, Harley Davidson, Honda, Hyabusa, Indian Motorcycles, KTM, Motot Guzzi, MV, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, and Yamaha, were a hit with two-wheel fans. “I love cars, but I am definitely a bike guy. I drove up from Abu Dhabi this morning to be here, we left at 6 am, so it’s great to see a really diverse collection of the two-wheelers included,” said Rajiv Mukhi, a 32-year-old Indian national who works in I.T.

Also joining the Parade was Porsche owner Karim Khalaf, a resident of Dubai for over 16 years: “I am here with my nine-year-old son Rami, who is more of a petrol head than me. Getting together like this and seeing all these amazing cars is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is not every day you get to celebrate the UAE’s 50th Anniversary in such spectacular fashion. The Parade summarised Dubai in one parking lot. Beautiful cars, shiny mechanics, people from all over the world in harmony, getting together and celebrating what they love.”

Other vehicles in the Parade included a 10-plus Abarth 595s and 695s, two Audi R8 V10s, several Chevrolet Corvettes, a 1966 Chevrolet Chevlle, a Dallara Stradale, a Dodge Charger Hellcat, a Ford Mustang Classic, a KTM X-Bow, a Lotus Evora S, a Maserati MC Stradale, a Mitsubishi Evo 8, a Rolls-Royce Ghost, and a Tesla Model 3, amongst others.

Tim Johnstone, 47, a British Expat living in Dubai who watched the Parade from the Dubai Harbour start line, said: “This is one of those ‘wow’ moments that Dubai is known for; the collection of cars, the Marina backdrop, the weather, the views – this lifestyle is something you simply don’t get anywhere else.”

Lola Chakravarty, an Indian national and long-time resident of Dubai Marina, was another spectator at the start line: “My husband and son were pestering me all week to come, and I wanted to watch from our balcony. For once they were right, I’m very glad we came to the start. The line-up of vehicles is very impressive, it’s like a scene from a movie.”

Amir Baderkano, a 14-year-old Dubai resident from Russia, added: “The Parade is amazing, it is very special to see so many supercars in one place – my favourite is the Lamborghini Aventador and I have seen two already. I am going to have a lot of fun editing all my photos – and yes, no filter needed!”

Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice-President of Events Management at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the organiser of #NOFILTERDXB and the Dubai Supercar Parade, added: “The Parade has united the city’s motoring community for an amazing celebration of what makes Dubai so special. We had over 200 cars in the convoy, with drivers from all over the world, but they all spoke the same languages: cars and lifestyle. We want to thank the drivers for taking part, and our partners at Dubai Police, the Roads & Transport Authority, Dubai Ambulance, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, and Dubai Events Security Committee for their efforts and energies in delivering another amazing spectacle for the city.”

BenQ Conducts Unique Gaming Event

Published

BenQ curated a special gaming event involving the biggest names from the Middle East gaming community, where they also announced their latest range of gaming products. One of the first few gaming events of its kind to be held in the past couple of years, it was attended by Geekay eSports, YaLLa eSports, Venomy eSports, Nasr eSports, Syctes eSports, and Lost eSports. An exhibition tournament for Valorant and Fortnite was the main attraction of the event.

It was an offline 1v1 knockout tournament where players had an incredible time battling head to head. In Valorant, 16 players participated, and Autumn secured 1st place, followed by Kasper from Geekay eSports, and Azz from Zerah eSports who came in 3rd. Whereas Tensa from Scytes eSports secured the 1st position in Fortnite, followed by Ember from Next eSports and Murloc from Scytes eSports, who secured the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively.

Attendees also got hands-on playtime with all of BenQ’s latest products – ZOWIE XL-K monitors, MOBIUZ Curved sim-racing monitors and the world’s first true 4K HDR gaming projector with Android TV. “For over ten years, BenQ has been dedicated to creating gaming equipment that allows players to focus on what matters most, their competitive performance,” said Manish Bakshi, Managing Director, BenQ Middle East. “We are excited to launch our new MOBIUZ range & ZOWIE XL range alongside the XL Setting to Share software to offer players the best resources to improve their gaming experience. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Gaming Community for making this event such a success.”

In addition to the XL2411K and XL2546K which launched back in 2020, players were also excited to try out the XL2746K and XL2540K monitors in Experience Zones and were eager to understand their new innovative features. ZOWIE’s XL2746K is a 240Hz DyAc⁺ 27 Inch gaming monitor which allows gamers to see the position of crosshair and impact points more clearly, helping with recoil control. It comes with an impressive number of height and angle adjustments, making it extremely customizable.

Its Black eQualizer technology increases visibility in dark scenes without overexposing the bright areas and it also comes with Color Vibrance to adjust color setting and tone to differentiate enemy targets in-game. ZOWIE’s XL2540K is a 240Hz 24.5 Inch gaming Monitor designed to enable gamers to catch every detail of motion and enjoy fluid gameplay, ensuring a smooth view of fast-motion and dramatic transitions at all times. Its all-new base takes less space while maintaining the same stability to give gamers more room for their setup for in-game movements and to play comfortably.

Gamers were also given a chance to try out the XL Settings to Share to create their preferred experience can now share and download their XL settings (such as DyAc usage, Color Vibrance, Black Equalizer). This feature is exclusive to ZOWIE’s XL-K monitors and is facilitated by the new XL Setting to Share software. It is free and doesn’t require any installation.

BenQ also conducted a sim racing challenge, for the fastest laps. In the sim racing booth, BenQ debuted a trio of MOBIUZ QHD 165Hz gaming monitors: EX3415R, EX2710R and EX3210R. EX3415R, a 34inch 1ms 144Hz Ultrawide Curved Gaming Monitor, uses the ultra-broad P3 color space to showcase incredible graphics on 21:9 1900R curvature screen, while EX2710R and EX3210R feature extreme 1000R curvature. Their extreme 1000R – 1900R curvature matches the human eye and visual micro-adjustments are minimized, relieving strain, headaches and distraction.

Not only is the gaming experience more comfortable, but the images wrapping the gamer’s field of view are wildly immersive. These new curved VA monitors are also equipped with an ergonomic stand and convenient remote control. MOBIUZ puts gamers in the center of the action, and the three models prioritize immersion with proprietary advantages like HDRi intelligent optimization, 2.1 channel audio and pioneering eye care.

“Immersion is everything,” said Manish Bakshi, Managing Director, BenQ Middle East. “Why would you want to simply look at the stunning landscapes in your favorite AAA game when you can feel like you’re there? That is the vision behind these new QHD 165Hz MOBIUZ gaming monitors.”

For live streamers, BenQ showcased the EW3880R monitor with a curved IPS panel, an engrossing 2300R curvature and WQHD+ resolution. Complete with great integrated audio systems and eye-care features, these monitors are all set to help gamers amplify their gameplay and overall gaming experience.

One of the highlights of the evening was also BenQ’s TK700STi – the world’s first True 4K HDR gaming projector which is ideal for giant-screen gaming. The gaming community was awed and felt as if they were playing the PS5 on a 4K TV because “the image quality on projectors usually is not so crisp and clear”, as one gamer commented.

There is no need to choose between picture and performance anymore. With its sharp resolution, high brightness (3000lm) and HDR gaming compatibility, the TK700STi can easily project 4K images larger than 100″. Meanwhile, its 16ms input lag, the lowest ever to be paired with 4K resolution, makes for the smoothest gaming experience. Gamers can now stay in perfect control and triumph with clear vision in fast-paced sports and FPS games where reaction time is key. The TK700STi is compatible with major consoles (Sony PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X, Google stadia).

#NoFilterDXB Shows Off a Garage of Iconic Replica Vehicles

Published

on

A dazzling array of replica vehicles from some of Hollywood’s most classic movies and TV shows are turning heads at #NoFilerDXB – a super trendy new festival celebrating Dubai’s enduring passion for urban lifestyle and motoring culture, which runs at Dubai Harbour until Saturday 27th November. Covering Hollywood blockbusters and fan favourite TV shows dating back decades, #NoFilterDXB’s garage of iconic replica vehicles includes the open-top Jeep Wrangler from Steven Spielberg’s 1993 dinosaur classic, Jurassic Park. The beige and red Jeep, which was memorably destroyed by the film’s rampaging T-Rex, has generated an endless slew of memes linked to stars Sam O’Neill and Laura Dern first observing the park’s roaming dinosaurs from the vehicle.

Taking a trip back in time to where it all began for Vin Diesel and Paul Walker’s legendary characters, Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner, #NoFilterDXB houses identical replicas of the Dodge Charger 1963 and Mitsubishi Eclipse from the very first installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise. The two cars were part of one of the most famous street race battles of all time – but, sadly, they won’t be jumping over any trains at #noFilterDXB.

Fans of the award-winning TV series Breaking Bad, whose lead star Brian Cranston was in Dubai last week, will have a hard time forgetting main protagonist Walter White’s daily drive, the lackluster Pontiac Aztek – now regarded as one of the most recognisable 5-seater SUVs from the early to mid-2000s. While this Aztek hasn’t seen nearly as much trouble as the one in the hit TV series, the Breaking Bad tribute car is as close you can get to the real thing. Fun Fact: the Breaking Bad color Aztek was never produced by Pontiac.

#NoFilterDXB also features the Aston Martin DBS from Daniel Craig’s modern James Bond classic Casino Royale; the customized Shelby Mustang GT500 – dubbed ‘Eleanor’ – from the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 Seconds starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie; and the bright red 1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole driven by actor Tom Selleck in 1980s TV show Magnum P.I.

“Alongside the new-to-market reveals, Electric Vehicle and hybrid regional launches, and dazzling assortment of custom and supercars, we have a quirky selection of some of the most iconic vehicles from classic Hollywood movies and TV shows. These cars are fun windows into the past that give visitors something extra to smile about and share on social media. Much like the city we call home, we want #NoFilterDXB to be about making amazing memories that last a lifetime,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of Events Management at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the organiser of #NoFilterDXB.

#NoFilterDXB will culminate in the Dubai Supercar Parade on Saturday at 8.30 am. The Parade will see some of the world’s most sought-after supercars rolling through the streets of Dubai Harbour, JBR, and JLT, before returning to #NoFilterDXB for public viewing. #NoFilterDxb runs from 24 – 27 November at Dubai Harbour.
