Huawei Hosts a Bunch of Exciting Activities at Dubai Design Week 2016

Huawei is hosting an array of exciting activities during Dubai Design Week 2016. The event is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and is taking place at the Dubai Design District (d3). At the event. Huawei is also previewing the MateBook for the first time in the region alongside graduate design projects and a series of educational workshops open to the public.

The partnership reflects the synergy between design and technology and will see Huawei alongside the arts and interiors industry’s movers and shakers. Commenting on the partnership, Myriam Benaroya, Regional Marketing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group in the Middle East and Africa, said “We’re very happy to take part in such a credible and creative celebration of art and design across the region. At Huawei we truly believe in harmony between technical innovation and creative design. The MateBook demonstrates Huawei’s industry-leading design and manufacturing expertise by bringing a beautifully crafted flagship product to market that is redefining the new style of business.”

Design 2.0
Huawei launched ‘Design 2.0’, a project for graduate design students powered by the Huawei MateBook. Waqass Maqsood, Jumana Ismail, and Abir Mnasria along with Zaina Khayyat from The Attic were shortlisted to take part in the competition. Their work will be on display in the form of an installation and the public can vote throughout Dubai design Days 2016 to judge for themselves which designer will take home the grand prize of a Huawei MateBook.

For the first time UAE, Huawei is displaying the MateBook after its initial introduction at Mobile World Congress 2016. The all-new 2-in-1 device is designed to meet the evolving demands of today’s modern business users, and is an ideal mobile productivity tool that seamlessly integrates mobility, high efficiency, work and design. Design workshops
In addition to the installation, Huawei is also hosting  a series of educational workshops that explore how graphic design, infographics and motion graphics can be powerful storytelling tools in social, political and cultural contexts. The sessions will also highlight how critical these tools are for designers to position themselves in this digital era, where image is one of the most powerful tools of communication. The workshops are conducted by Naji El Mir, an award winning French Lebanese graphic designer and creative director, and co-founder of the Parisian studio Ne—Po. To register for the morning session

As part of #EMPTYDXBDW one of over thirty participating Instagram photographers will be selected to win a P9 Limited Edition smartphone. These photographers will have all access to the fair before it opens to the public on the morning of the 25th and the best photo with the hashtag #P9atDXBDW will be selected by Huawei.

Dubai Parks and Resorts Turns Into a ‘World of Wintertainment’

Dubai Parks and Resorts, the Middle East’s largest theme park destination, is set to thrill guests with a wide range of holiday experiences. These include spectacular Festive-themed laser show, festive events and workshops, live shows and parades, along with the park’s exciting rides, rollercoasters and attractions from Friday, 8th December 2023 to Thursday, 7th January 2024.

At RIVERLAND Dubai, the night sky will come alive with a dazzling new Laser Show, Wednesday to Sunday at 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, and 9:30 PM, creating a mesmerising spectacle with colourful lights and laser beams choreographed to festive themed music for all to enjoy. Guests can explore Santa’s Grotto and meet Santa himself at Viva Ristorante Restaurant and immerse in the festive spirit at the Peninsula Stage with Christmas carols and sing-along performances every Friday through Sunday. Guests can’t miss Sandy’s Candy World Spectacular, a parade that runs every Wednesday to Sunday at 9:00 PM, promising a sweet and vibrant procession to captivate audiences of all ages. To extend the holiday celebrations even further, friends and families of all ages are welcome to enjoy the heavenly tunes of 35 children of Dubai Youth Choir singing festive carols on 16th December.

MOTIONGATE Dubai invites guests to step into its Hollywood Holidays, promising an unforgettable festive season filled with parades, character meet and greets, mesmerising snowfall, and a magnificent 40-foot Christmas tree. The park transforms into a spectacle of lights and enchanting decorations, setting the perfect festive ambience. Adding to the holiday cheer is the debut of a new live stage show, ‘Home for Christmas’ at the Hollywood Theatre. Guests are invited to watch this heartwarming experience, adding an extra layer of joy to the holiday celebrations.

Meet Rudolph and his reindeer friends as they dance to popular holiday tunes in the ‘Time to Sleigh!’ street show or catch the elves and toy soldiers dancing to popular seasonal hip hop tunes in the ‘Toy Factory Fellas’.  For those craving delicious holiday treats, MOTIONGATE Dubai’s festive night market will offer various delights, including crepes, gingerbread cookies, churros, hot chocolate, and much more. To enhance the holiday experience, guests can explore the 15 themed retail shops, each offering an exclusive selection of souvenirs inspired by fan-favourite films such as Kung Fu Panda, Ghostbusters, Hunger Games, Shrek, and more.

Meanwhile, at LEGOLAND Dubai Resort, families are invited to join the Festive Bricktacular from Thursday, 14th December 2023 to Sunday, 7th January 2024. Guests can participate in the LEGOLAND Countdown to Christmas, an advent calendar that will give them the chance to open a door and win a LEGO box set every day until 24th December 2023. The UAE’s first and only Polynesian resort will be hosting exclusive festive-themed staycation packages from 24th to 26th December 2023, starting from AED 1,399++ for a King Room and AED 1,799++ for an Upgraded Family Suite. Two children under the age of six are welcome to stay and dine with the hotel’s compliments. Here, families will start Christmas day with a nutritious breakfast, followed by a festive brunch from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with the resort coming alive with live music and street performances.

Outdoor kids’ activities and attractions will ensure the little ones are entertained, with a festive-themed scavenger hunt featuring prizes as well as a special meet & greet with Santa, spreading joys and gifts to his young fans. Elife TV Subscribers May Not Be Able to View beIN Channels From June 1, 2023

In a brief media alert, Etisalat announced that Elife TV subscribers may not be able to view beIN channels from June 1, 2023. The company did not elaborate on the reason behind this service disruption.

“etisalat by e& informs its valued customers and stakeholders that beIN channels on elife TV may not be available effective 1st June 2023. Further updates will be communicated to our valued customers via email, SMS, and/or on our website on or before 1st June 2023,” the company said.
