Hyperloop One Will Make it Possible to Travel Between Cities at the Speed of 1200-kmph

Hyperloop One, the global high-speed transport company and Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA) participant, has launched its new vision for the future of the global transport sector at an event held in Dubai today. During the event, Hyperloop One gave a presentation revealing its vision for the future of the transport sector using Dubai as an example.

The company’s vision consists of combining self-driving cars with Hyperloop technology. Individuals can commute for limited distances within the city in small self-driving vehicles. These vehicles can then board the Hyperloop train to travel for longer distances – including between cities – with speeds that can reach 1,200 kilometers per hour, exceeding aircraft speed.

According to the plan presented at the event, Hyperloop stations will be spread all around the city, providing easy and convenient access. This would effectively reduce travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to less than 12 minutes, and between Dubai and Riyadh to less than 48 minutes.

The new technology is set to have positive implications on urban planning. The company claims it will economise parking spaces as it changes the way individuals commute within the city, as well as to and from logistical centers such as airports and ports.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, said, “Dubai has become a model for the cities of the future, launching one revolutionary initiative after the other and drastically reshaping strategic economic sectors. This is due in large part to the ambitious vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as the close attention of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation.”

 

H.E. went on to affirm that, over the course of the next decade, the world is set to embrace a new generation of vehicles and transportation systems. Hyperloop technology is at the fore of these developments, H.E. Al Tayer noted, adding that Dubai is moving forward with initiatives and partnerships to realize the objectives of the Dubai Autonomous Transportation Strategy, which aims to render 25% of all transportation in the emirate driverless by 2030.

“History stands witness to the significant impact that innovations in the transport sector can have on economic and social institutions,” H.E. Al Tayer continued. “Every historical era that witnessed the invention of a new means of transportation – from ships to cars to airplanes – equally witnessed a radical shift in trade, which eventually led to notable economic growth. Moreover, the movement of people across borders also increased, bringing about a great exchange of culture.”

The event also saw the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) sign an agreement with Hyperloop One to work through the Accelerators program and develop a prototype of the project. This will make it possible to examine all aspects of implementing Hyperloop technology to connect Dubai with a number cities and destinations, and to determine its economic feasibility. If proven feasible, the emirate intends to implement the technology, which stands to reshape the entire transportation and logistics sector around the world.

Acer Launches Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition at its GPC 2022

Acer today announced the Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition gaming laptop, bringing glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D to the world of gaming. Through the SpatialLabs TrueGame application, it will support over 50 popular games at launch, and support for additional titles will be added on a continuous basis moving forwards. Alongside the 3D gaming laptop, Acer also announced the Predator Triton 300 SE thin gaming laptop, and the Predator XB273K LV and Acer Nitro XV272U RV gaming monitors.

Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition
The Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition (PH315-55s) is a powerful gaming laptop that enables glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D gaming experiences. With the SpatialLabs TrueGame application, gamers can effortlessly play supported games in a 3D mode on the device, where details of the scene are brought to life. Rooms appear more spacious, objects appear genuinely layered, and adventures become more thrilling—all smooth, in real-time, and without the need for special glasses.

SpatialLabs TrueGame is a new application that brings stereoscopic 3D to the world of gaming, letting players enjoy their favorite titles in their true glory. This is possible because games are mostly created with three dimensions in mind: developers include information about depth into each scene and object they build. SpatialLabs leverages this already-existing information in order to present the games in stereoscopic 3D. A dedicated pre-configured profile will be available for each game title among the 50+ modern and classic titles on launch in order to offer players a seamless experience with their favorite games, and profiles for additional titles will be added on a continuous basis moving forward.

The SpatialLabs experience is created through the combination of an eye-tracking solution, a stereoscopic 3D display and real-time rendering technologies. The display of the Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition gaming laptop consists of a 15.6-inch UHD 2D panel with a liquid crystal lenticular lens optically bonded on top of it, together forming an innovative module that can be switched back and forth between 2D and stereoscopic 3D views.

To power these exciting real-time 3D experiences, the Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition features up to 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPUs, 32GB DDR5-4800 memory and PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs RAID 0 storage. A dual-fan layout that includes one 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fan helps to keep the system running cool, further supported by liquid metal thermal grease and Acer’s CoolBoost technology.

Predator Triton 300 SE
The Predator Triton 300 SE thin gaming laptop line has been refreshed (PT314-52s) with the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPUs, and 16:10 OLED panel options.

A new 16-inch model (PT316-51s) has been added with up to 240 Hz WQXGA panels and supports NVIDIA G-SYNC and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, which allows users to dynamically switch between the integrated graphics and discrete graphics without having to reboot.

Featuring custom-engineered 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans, Vortex Flow airflow guidance technology, and liquid metal thermal grease, the Predator Triton 300 SE can keep things cool while running at peak performance. Both the 14- and 16-inch models support blazing-fast wireless connectivity with Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675i, while the 16-inch add an Intel Killer E2600 Ethernet controller for wired connections. Ports are plentiful with Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A options.

The Predator XB273K LV gaming monitor is designed for gamers seeking a cutting-edge gaming experience.

The AMD FreeSync Premium monitor features a 27-inch UHD (3840 x 2160), Agile-Splendor IPS panel with a 160 Hz refresh rate response time (G to G), allowing it to deliver smooth and tear-free visuals even when fast-moving objects race across the screen.

It supports HDMI 2.1, has high color accuracy with a Delta E < 1 and is VESA DisplayHDR 600 and TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe-certified.

Acer Nitro XV272U RV Gaming Monitor
The 27-inch Acer Nitro XV272U RV gaming monitor features a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, 170 Hz refresh rate (overclocked), and 1 ms response time (G to G), and low glare panel, which provides higher readability.

It is VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified, and its Agile-Splendor IPS panel supports 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with a Delta E < 1. The Acer Nitro XV272U RV gaming monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium technology and is also TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe-certified.

The Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition (PH315-55s) will be available in EMEA in September, starting at $3449. The 14-inch Predator Triton 300 SE (PT314-52s) will be available in EMEA in Q3, starting at $1569. The 16-inch Predator Triton 300 SE (PT316-51s) will be available in EMEA in Q3, starting at $1669. Acer’s ConceptD Laptops and Desktops Get 12th Gen Intel Core CPUs and NVIDIA RTX GPUs

Acer has announced new models in its professional line of ConceptD creator PCs. The ConceptD 5 laptop, ConceptD 500 mini workstation, and ConceptD 100 small form factor desktop now include the latest 12th Gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GPUs, while the ConceptD 5 laptop now offers a 16-inch OLED display option. ConceptD PCs are designed and optimized for graphic designers, filmmakers, engineers, architects, developers, and other creators. They feature top-of-the-line technology housed in a timeless design aesthetic.

ConceptD 5 Laptop
The powerful ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro creator laptops for mobile professionals are ideal for those who need the ability to create or edit work on the go. Less than an inch in height, their sophisticated and durable metal design makes them easy to take on the road. This all equates to saturated color with deeper blacks, brighter whites and full-spectrum color precision. The extra screen real estate provided by its 16:10 aspect ratio is especially useful for managing application title bars and Windows taskbars at the top and bottom of the screen.

Supporting its powerful but thin and lightweight design, the ConceptD 5 series has the highest capacity battery Acer has ever included in a ConceptD laptop. Users can also monitor the laptop’s CPU, GPU and memory usage, and when necessary, switch between full-performance, balanced and whisper-quiet Eco mode.

ConceptD 500 Desktop
The ConceptD 500 desktop PCs sport a white minimalist modern design with a timeless, aesthetic and warm amber lighting. Beneath its sleek and unobtrusive design, Acer’s powerful mid-sized (20L) ConceptD 500 has some of the most powerful capabilities available, making it the perfect creator desktop PC for intensive tasks such as 3D animation, videos and complex design projects.

Running Windows 11, the newest models (CT500-53A) include the latest tech from Intel and NVIDIA, including a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and a choice of powerful graphics — either an NVIDIA RTX A4000 or GeForce RTX 3070 GPU.

Acer Expands its SpatialLabs Lineup of Stereoscopic 3D Products with new Portable Displays for Creators and Gamers

Acer today announced two additions to its SpatialLabs lineup of products: the Acer SpatialLabs View for personal entertainment and Acer SpatialLabs View Pro for commercial audiences. Both are standalone 15.6-inch 4K displays that can be connected to another PC, providing users with portable access to the SpatialLabs suite of experiences. Not just intended for highly-skilled creators, however, this generation of devices brings glasses-free stereoscopic 3D technology to gamers and home-entertainment enthusiasts, too.

Gamers and creators alike will appreciate the series’ lightweight design (less than 1.5 kg / 3.3 lbs), making it easy to put in a bag and take to a LAN party or product pitch session. Creators in particular can depend on 100% coverage of the Adobe RGB color gamut, but gamers will also appreciate the devices’ 400 nits of brightness.

While the Acer SpatialLabs View comes with an all-new stereoscopic 3D gaming platform, the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro comes with both the technology necessary to realize a user’s creations and also an intelligent industrial design that simplifies deployment — a combination that leads to more impactful storytelling opportunities.

SpatialLabs TrueGame is a new application that brings stereoscopic 3D to the world of gaming, letting players enjoy their favorite titles in their true glory. While these profiles rely on a ton of information and a significant amount of work goes into optimizing each one, the platform itself is incredibly user-friendly. After launching the TrueGame application, users simply need to navigate to the title they wish to play and then press “Play.” The application will do the rest, automatically launching the necessary game files on a user’s system and activating the title’s associated TrueGame 3D profile in order to boot the game up in Stereoscopic 3D.

This is a totally new way of playing that offers immersion, unlike anything players, have experienced before. Rooms appear more spacious, objects appear genuinely layered, and adventures become more exciting—all smooth, in real-time, and without the need for special glasses.

When not playing games, it can also be used as a standard 4K monitor.

SpatialLabs Go
Acer’s proprietary solution SpatialLabs Go features AI technology that makes it possible to generate stereoscopic 3D content from almost anything that can be displayed in full-screen, all at the press of a button. Photographs pop off the screen, simple web games become a bit more exciting, and videos (online or offline) take on another level of immersion in real-time. Perhaps most importantly, you can generate your own content, by taking some photos or videos with your devices, and once the assets are imported onto the system, you are able to use SpatialLabs Go to generate simulated stereo 3D images.

SpatialLabs Model Viewer

The Acer SpatialLabs View Pro is about making creators’ lives easier. To this end, out-of-the-box support for all major file formats, including newly added support for Datasmith, means that creators can use 3D design software such as Revit, Solidworks, and Cinema 4D by installing Datasmith export plugins: when a project is ready for viewing, it can be imported into the SpatialLabs Model Viewer. Sketchfab integration further simplifies the creation process by giving users access to a massive online library of free and premium 3D assets that can be leveraged for their own projects. As color accuracy is critical for design work, the View Pro’s 15.6-inch 4K display covers 100% of the Adobe RGB color gamut.

Not just a tool for creating 3D assets, however, the SpatialLabs View Pro empowers developers with a variety of means to share and display their creations:

  • Content can be quickly loaded for sharing — whether that’s to get feedback from a colleague in the office or to give a customer a true-to-life visualization of the item they’re interested in
  • Those working in sales or marketing will appreciate the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro’s slim and portable design: less than 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) it’s easy to take on the go, and a collapsible kickstand makes it possible to set up shop virtually anywhere
  • A VESA mount makes it easy to affix the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro to kiosks and point-of-sale displays when the situation calls for a more permanent setup, while Ultraleap hand-gesture recognition allows customers to enjoy an even more interactive experience

As with previous SpatialLabs devices, the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro includes several additional add-ons to improve the workflow of 3D creators. The creation can be taken from the 3D software and launched in SpatialLabs Model Viewer with just one click. In addition, Maya and Blender users can connect and edit on a 2D screen while observing their changes being rendered into stereoscopic 3D on the Acer SpatialLabs View Pro — all simultaneously and in real-time.

The Acer SpatialLabs View (ASV15-1B) will be available this summer starting at AED 1,099.
