Apacer Shows Off Portable HDDs and SSDs at Computex 2017
Apacer, one of the leading brands in memory and storage solutions, has revealed its latest lineup of portable storage products in Taipei during Computex 2017. The company showcased three military-grade USB 3.1 Gen 1 portable hard drives (AC630, AC631 and AC632) – where the former two feature built-in rubber frames for shockproof protection, and IP55 certification for dustproof and waterproof operation.
The AC632, on the other hand, features anti-vibration resistance to reduce the likelihood of data loss and hard drive failure. All three drives passed the U.S. military drop test (MIL-STD-810G 516.6), making them resistant to falls of 1.22m high. For additional shock absorption, there’s the AC531 USB 3.1 Gen 1 hard drive, where all corners are rounded and the USB port can be covered with a rubber flap to reduce dust exposure.
The drive is also designed to survive a 1m fall, while the rear rubber strip can be used as stowage for the included USB cable. If you’re not a fan of the rubberized look, the all-black AC532 will be more to your liking. Apacer’s answer to ultimate protection, however, arrives in the form of the AC730 portable hard drive.
This juggernaut of a USB 3.1 Gen 1 drive is built to withstand just about anything you can throw at it. Encased in finely cast aluminum alloy, the AC730 is compliant with Mil-Spec drop test (up to 1.2m in height) and IP68 standard, along with pressure resistance of up to 1,500kg. It’s so crushproof that you can literally run a car tire over the drive, and it’ll survive to hold your data for another day.
Last but not least, there’s the ASMini – a pocket-sized SSD that is small and lightweight, but holds 240GB of data while being no bigger than a business card. Connectivity-wise, the ASMini incorporates a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, which allows for read and write speeds of 450MB/s and 400MB/s, respectively.
