Nissan Middle East has unveiled the latest updates to the Nissan Patrol MY19 in the UAE, with two bold new colours added to the line-up, along with exterior accessories that are exclusive to the UAE. Tough on the outside yet welcoming on the inside, the Nissan Patrol is an all-terrain vehicle that effortlessly combines luxurious style and intelligent mobility features, with robust off-road power.
The Patrol’s ruggedly-stylish appearance and all-conquering performance has led the model to become an inseparable part of the social and cultural fabric of the Middle East. The car’s popularity is ever-growing in the UAE, with a year-on-year increase in sales of 110% recorded for the first quarter of Nissan Middle East’s financial year (April – June 2018).
The MY19 Patrol’s powerful design has been enhanced by the introduction of two new stylish exterior colours to the range, Hermosa Blue and Forged Copper Brown. Bold and trendy, yet sophisticated, these colours are certain to turn heads both on and off the road.
In addition, the exterior of the MY19 Patrol has been refreshed with added accessories that are exclusive to the UAE and select markets. These include newly-designed front and rear diffusers that are complemented by distinctive grey side fenders. The rear of the Patrol has been further enhanced with an optional new tow hitch cover and gleaming exhaust tip.
Premium roof rails have been introduced to the Patrol, along with a new metallic-slate KAD roof, for a distinguished and premium look. The sequential side indicators, integrated into the car’s wing mirrors, also ensure a distinctive appearance.
Juergen Schmitz, Managing Director Nissan Middle East said: “The Nissan Patrol has become a key part of UAE culture, as demonstrated by the highly encouraging year-on-year sales increase. Whether navigating city streets or venturing off-road, the Patrol is a car that perfectly balances a distinctively stylish design with power and practicality. The new enhancements to the range, combined with the exciting and innovative Intelligent Mobility Technologies, present in all aspects of the car, will only add to its iconic reputation.”
Working in tandem with its ruggedly good looks, the Patrol is armed with an array of Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies. These innovations are redefining the very concept of how cars are designed, engineered and driven, and help make every trip exceptional for the new-age driver. The state-of-the-art technologies also promise occupants a remarkably safe driving environment.
In front, Nissan’s Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Brake Assist warn the driver of risks that lie beyond the driver’s forward field of vision and help with braking to avoid rear-end collisions. On the sides, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention alert the driver to potential lane drift and detect vehicles approaching in the blind spot area. When reversing, Intelligent Back-Up Intervention alerts when a moving object is detected behind the Patrol, and if necessary, automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision.
Further intelligent safety features that underpin the Patrol’s credentials as a rugged endurance vehicle include Locking Rear Differential, that allows drivers to easily pull out of mud or loose sand, and the Traction Control System that senses when a front wheel slips and responds by instantly reducing throttle to help restore grip. Vehicle Dynamic Control automatically prevents the Patrol from sliding sideways on slippery road surfaces or when negotiating a curve.
Other safety features include the 6 SRS Airbag System, Front Seatbelt Pretensioners and Load Limiters, Crash-sensitive Door Unlock, Active Head Restraints, Automated Hazard Warning Signal, and the automated Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) which monitors and displays the current status of the car’s tyres.
The Patrol is a car that is as comfortable navigating the urban jungle, as tackling the challenges of off-road driving. Intelligent 4×4 technology effortlessly switches between sand, on-road, snow and rock drive modes. Patrol also employs an advanced Hydraulic Body Motion Control System, with 4-wheel independent suspension, which helps give the vehicle superb stability on rugged and sandy terrain, while delivering a comfortable ride in the city.
The MY19 Patrol is available in two engine sizes. The advanced 5.6-litre V8 engine offers 400 horsepower at 5,800 rpm, with a torque rated at 57.1kg-m/4,000rpm. The 4-litre Patrol V6 engine provides 275 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, with a torque of 40.2kg-m/4,000rpm. As part of its adventure-ready spirit, the car offers a standard towing capacity of 2000 kg.
The MY19 Patrol will be available on all grades at Nissan dealers across the UAE from 1 October 2018 at a starting price of AED 181,000 (inclusive of 5% VAT) while the MY19 upgraded Patrol will also be available on the SE & LE grades.
Nissan Shows Off All-Electric Ariya at Expo 2020
Nissan is moving towards sustainable mobility with the first regional showcase of its stunning all-electric Ariya crossover car that is targeted towards the mass market. The Japanese company unveiled its all-new electric vehicle on 14th October, 2021, at the Let’s Move event at Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo 2020 Dubai. “As Expo 2020’s Official Automotive Partner, Nissan is strongly committed to championing more sustainable transportation,” the company said.
Thierry Sabbagh, Managing Director of Nissan Middle East, said, “It’s a really exciting moment for us as a brand because our partnership with Expo started three years ago and we have been a part of the entire development, whether it is of the site or also of all the plans that have been set. And today, the partnership between Expo and Nissan is very natural. Because today, when we look at the pillars of Expo, whether on Sustainability, on Mobility, and on Opportunity, I can tell you that Nissan’s strategy is very much based on that.”
Joni Paiva, Divisional Vice President of Nissan Motors, said, “When you align Nissan’s purpose to drive innovation to enrich people’s lives and you look at Expo 2020’s purpose [and theme], ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, these two visions align extremely well, especially when you use the subthemes of Expo 2020 of Sustainability, Opportunity, and Mobility.”
Sabbagh said that unlike other electric vehicles currently available on the market, the new Ariya is made to appeal to people of all backgrounds, rather than target a niche audience only. He added, “Nissan as a brand has always brought products to the market that have very high demand and have always really been very much the best when it comes to the technology, to the innovation. And definitely, this is part of our passion. When we bring products to the market, we want to ensure that people from different categories, and from different aspirations, are able to drive our product. And definitely, I don’t see a difference with the Nissan Ariya, once it is fully launched in the markets. I will definitely be convinced that this will be available and offered to customers with different needs and also different profile customers.”
“The Ariya will drive the beginning of the Nissan NEXT transformation journey, a forward-looking plan building on the brand’s reputation for innovation, craftsmanship, customer focus, and quality,” the company said.
