Better Life recently unveiled the unique and exclusive Dolce & Gabbana Fab28 hand painted Smeg refrigerator with the theme “Blind Love”. The fridge is among 100 unique fridges with each with a unique design a story behind it. This exclusive piece is on view at Better Life Showroom in Mall of the Emirates.
‘Blind Love’ is inspired by the exploits of the paladins of France, and accentuated by whites, blues, reds and greens that characterise the traditional Sicilian cart decorations. On the front panel are scenes from the Sicilian poetic marionette theater. The sides feature two horse heads in full regalia. The top reinforces the colourful friezes that dominate the entire surface.
The event which was held at the ESAG Design Hub at d3 also revealed the newest collection of the Dolce & Gabbana Smeg small appliances range – a blender themed “Sicily my love.”
The event also included Smeg Avocado toast station using Smeg toasters. The guests participated in making avocado toast and two winners were chosen. The smoothie station using Smeg blenders offered healthy smoothies to the guests. Besides attendees could also sip on tea or coffee made in Smeg appliances.
Review: Huawei Band 6
Huawei’s new Band 6 is positioned as a fitness tracker that offers a big screen to track your progress, check out notifications, and lots more.
Inside the box, you get the Band 6 along with a bunch of accessories that includes the charger with magnetic pins, and the user manual. The Band 6 comes with a 1.47-inch AMOLED FullView Display on the front with a physical button on its right edge.
In terms of features, the Band 6 also comes with all-day heart rate monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, pressure and sleep monitoring, and stand-up reminders.
What’s more, this device also comes with 11 professional workout modes such as indoor and outdoor running, cycling, and rope skipping, and 85 customised modes including fitness, ball games, and dancing types, offering wide coverage of workout tracking.
Huawei also claims that the device offers a battery life of up to 14 days in regular mode. In addition, it supports fast charging, TruSport sports algorithm, and 5ATM water resistance. The wrist band of the Band 6 is made of silicone and the colour we received for this test was the forest green variant.
The band also offers abnormal resting heart rate alerts. This means Band 6 builds on the 24/7 heart rate monitoring technology, thus alerting the user if the resting heart rate is too high or too low. If the data stays high or low for over 10 minutes when the user is resting, the band will inform the user of the irregularity.
Adults with a resting BPM (beats-per-minute) above 100 are normally considered to have a high heart rate. Furthermore, adults with a resting BPM below 50 are normally considered to have a low heart rate (although people in deep sleep, active adults, and career athletes may have an average resting heart rate below 50 BPM).
The Band 6 also comes with The Huawei TruSleep 2.0, which automatically calculates the duration of your sleep, thus identifying moments when you fell asleep and woke up and the proportion of light sleep to deep sleep and rapid eye movement (REM). This data can help you accurately identify any of six typical sleep issues: insomnia, shallow sleep, night-time awakenings, early morning awakenings, excessive dreams, and an irregular sleep pattern.
In terms of the colours, the Huawei Band 6 is available in Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Sakura Pink, and Forest Green – the one we received for this review, as mentioned before, was the Forest Green variant. Huawei Band 6 also supports Watch Face Market thus providing you with more than 100 stylish watch faces to truly personalise the band.
I used Band 6 for over two weeks to track my workouts, sleep patterns, SpO2 levels, and so on. The Huawei Band 6 did a really good job, showing me my health stats and how I was doing overall. The workout modes built into the Band 6 does help a lot in planning your workout sessions.
For very affordable pricing of AED 229, the Huawei Band 6 offers lots of value. You get a FullView display, 2-week battery life, very good sleep and stress tracking, SpO2 and heart rate monitoring, 96 workout modes, and lots more. The Huawei Band 6 thus comes across as highly recommended.

This means the Band 6 builds on the 24/7 heart rate monitoring technology, thus alerting the user if the resting heart rate is too high or too low. Philips Launches Lumea Series 9000 IPL Hair Removal Device
Philips has announced the launch of its brand-new Lumea Series 9000, its fastest-ever and most efficient IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal solution for salon-smooth skin at home. Leveraging the success of the Lumea Prestige, Philips’ new Lumea Series 9000 brings innovation to the market, with reimagined stylish, luxurious packaging and a transformed hair removal experience to suit every woman’s needs.
Consumers can say goodbye to unwanted hair with long-lasting results from the comfort – and cleanliness – of their own homes, with smart SenseIQ technology that adjusts the light setting based on individual needs and a cordless, easy-to-use device. Sibel Yildiz, Head of Consumer Marketing Middle East, Turkey & Africa said, “Silky smooth skin from the comfort of our own homes is no longer a dream, as it was made possible by Philips’ innovative Lumea devices. A breakthrough in beauty, the ranges’ popularity has gained momentum during the pandemic, when our studies have shown that 80% of the women surveyed had sought DIY alternatives to the salon.”
With an increased focus on hygiene and avoiding close contact, the pandemic has prompted 13% of participants to purchase a hair removal device, with 71% revealing that they did not want to go back to the salon. This is where the IPL Lumea Series 9000 comes in, with four curved intelligent attachments and SenseIQ technology so that women – especially working mums like myself – can optimise their routine and achieve desired results in no time,” she added.
The IPL Philips Lumea Series 9000 comes in three new colours, with a pale pink handle and gentler look to complement its premium features. The device emits 450,000 flashes, which is equivalent to 39 years of lamp lifespan. IPL uses warm, gentle pulses of light to put the hair to sleep, preventing it from growing back for up to six months. With Lumea, women typically see a 92% reduction in hair after only three treatments.
The Lumea Series 9000 is designed to adapt to every woman’s skin, with the SmartSkin sensor detecting its tone – even as it changes with the seasons due to sun exposure – selecting the most comfortable light setting for hair removal. Effective on naturally dark blonde, brown and black hair and on skin tones from very white to dark brown, the Lumea Series 9000 can also sync with an application which gives consumers continued support and personalised treatment guidance.
With four intelligent attachments and programmes tailored for each body area including the underarm, face and bikini, the Lumea Series 9000 offers a seamless hair removal routine without the hassle. The technology company has also announced the launch of the Philips Lumea 100-Day Challenge, where customers are eligible for a full refund if they are not fully satisfied with the product for any reason. The Philips Lumea Series 9000 with SenseIQ technology will be available for purchase within UAE at all Major Pharmacies, Electronic stores, and on Amazon.
