Review: Honor 10i

Published

on

Honor has carved a niche for itself as an able mid-range devices vendor. The company recently launched the new 10i, which is a mid-ranged sibling of the more powerful Honor 10. But it is also a supercharged version of the budget variant, the Honor 10 Lite.

Design
The phone features an enhanced dual-tone gradient design, an upgraded 32MP selfie camera and a third lens in the rear camera setup. Coming in at a very affordable price point of AED 999, the device is aimed at youngsters and hence is available in three color variants – blue, red and black. The overall design and build quality is good for a mid-range device. The body is made of a mix of plastic and glass. It weighs around 164-gms and is quite light to handle.

Display
On the front, the phone features a 6.21-inch FHD+ touchscreen display, that offers a resolution of 1080-by-2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. On the top of the screen, you will find a 32 megapixel camera for all your selfie requirements. The display is quite bright to look at and the colors are unsaturated, too. What’s more, the display is also TÜV Rheinland certified for eye-care.

Specs
The volume and the power buttons are placed on the right edge of the device, while the dual SIM slots can be found on the top edge of the device. On the bottom edge, you get a 3.5mm audio jack, a micro USB port, ad the speaker grille. Under the hood, the Honor 10i is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 processor. The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage space.

The internal storage can be further expanded to up to 512GB using a microSD card. The Honor 10i runs Android Pie, with Huawei’s EMUI 9.0.1 on top of it.You also get GPU Turbo2.0 that kicks in automatically when the de ice recognizes graphics intensive tasks such as gaming. The Honor 10i is powered by a 3,400mAh battery. Connectivity options on the Honor 10i include Wi-Fi and NFC. Sensors on the phone include fingerprint sensor, just below the triple-camera module.

Camera
The Honor 10i comes packed with an AI-powered triple camera setup. This includes a 24-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a second 8-megapixel wide angle camera and a third 2-megapixel camera. You also get a Super Night Shoot mode for taking night shots with ease, without a tripod.

The camera app also comes with an AI multi-scene recognition, which according to the company, is capable of recognizing 22 categories of objects and 500+ scenarios. The front AI-enable 32 megapixel camera offers a range of touchup features such as skin tone adjustment, face slimming, acne removal, teeth whitening, eye enlargement, eye bags removal, and lots more.

Performance
In order to gauge the performance of the Honor 10i, we ran the AnTuTu and Geekbench benchmarks on the device. On Geekbench single core, the Honor 10i clocked 1532 points, while on the multi-core tests, it clocked 5229 points. On AnTuTu, the Honor 10i clocked 127601 points.

The points on both AnTuTu and Geekbench are a bit higher than rival mid-range devices coming in at similar price tags. This could possibly be due to the 4GB RAM and the GPU Turbo2.0 technology built into the device. The operating temperature of the Honor 10i stood at 40°C, which is normal for most devices after an intense gaming session. We did not however feel the device getting hot, though, which is a good sign.

Photography on most mid-range devices usually are a hit or a miss. That, thankfully, is not the case with the Honor 10i. The device is capable of taking some brilliant shots, especially in the super night mode, which managed to blew me away with the sheer quality of the low light images.

Even under good lighting conditions, the Honor 10i took some amazing shots. The wide angle mode also took some good shots. Videos also turned out pretty good on the Honor 10i.

Verdict
At a price point of AED 999, Honor has managed to pack the device with pretty much every major feature it could find. It comes with a very good design and build quality, accompanies a great selfie camera and a triple-camera setup at the rear, good performance and good overall experience. For someone looking for a good phone that offers good camera functionalities and performance at a pocket-friendly price, the Honor 10i can surely fit the bill.

Huawei Watch Fit 3 Review: Fitness Tracking Powerhouse

Published

on

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is the latest entrant in the increasingly crowded fitness tracker market. Following the success of its predecessor, the Watch Fit 3 builds upon the core strengths of affordability, comfort, and design while introducing some notable upgrades.

Design and Comfort
The Watch Fit 3 retains the sleek rectangular form factor of the previous model, albeit with some design changes. On the right edge of the watch dial, you will find two buttons – a standard Function button and a rotating crown. It boasts a vibrant 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 408-by-408 pixels. You also get a pixel density of 347 PPI. The rectangular design offers good real estate for displaying data and notifications.

The display is bright, crisp, and easily readable even under direct sunlight. The included silicone strap feels comfortable and lightweight, making the watch suitable for all-day wear, including workouts and sleep tracking. The watch comes in a variety of vibrant colours and strap options, allowing you to personalise it to your heart’s content.

Features
The Watch Fit 3 offers a decent selection of smartwatch features. You can receive and view notifications from your phone, control music playback, and access weather information. It also comes packed with sensors such as a 9-axis IMU sensor (Accelerometer sensor, Gyroscope sensor, Magnetometer sensor), an optical heart rate sensor, and an ambient light sensor.

The watch runs on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.2.0 operating system. The overall user interface is very user-friendly and navigation is smooth. There are also a good number of pre-loaded watch faces to choose from, and the customisation options are good, too.

What’s more, the Watch Fit 3 is also 5 ATM water-resistant. This means the watch has a water resistance rating of 50 meters under ISO standard 22810:2010. So it can be used for shallow-water activities such as swimming in a pool or ocean. However, they should not be used for scuba diving, waterskiing, or other activities involving high-velocity water or submersion below shallow depths.

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 also offers Bluetooth calling features right from your wrist. Another highlight of the watch’s performance lies in its battery life. Huawei claims up to 10 days of typical use, and our experience aligns with this. This is a significant advantage over many smartwatches that require nightly charging.

Fitness Tracking and Health Monitoring
The Watch Fit 3 shines when it comes to fitness tracking. It boasts over 100 workout modes to keep your exercise routine fresh, and can automatically detect six common activities. Plus, the all-new Track Run mode uses built-in GPS to precisely measure your lap distances and map your running routes. The watch also offers continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and SpO2 (blood oxygen) monitoring.

The Watch Fit 3 also comes with a high-performance PPG sensor, that sends timely alerts on potential A-fib and premature beat risks. There’s also an easy-to-use monthly calendar that lets you track your menstrual cycle and record physical changes from beginning to end. This insightful view helps you gain a deeper understanding of your body’s rhythms. Plus, you’ll receive helpful reminders about your upcoming period, ensuring you’re always prepared.

The accompanying Huawei Health app provides detailed insights into your fitness data, allowing you to track your progress over time. The app also offers guided workouts and training plans, which can be helpful for beginners or those looking for a structured exercise routine.

Verdict
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 delivers on its core strengths of affordability, comfort, and design. It boasts a vibrant display, a comfortable strap, and a lightweight design that makes it perfect for all-day wear. The 10-day battery life is a major selling point, putting it ahead of many competitors. The fitness tracking features are robust, covering a wide range of workout modes with accurate GPS tracking for outdoor activities. Sleep and SpO2 monitoring offer additional insights into overall health.

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 sits comfortably in the affordable fitness tracker segment, priced at AED 529. The Watch Fit 3 is available in a range of colour options, including Midnight Black, Nebula Pink, Green, White, Space Grey, and White (Leather). This competitive price point, coupled with its long battery life, comfortable design, and comprehensive fitness tracking features, makes the Watch Fit 3 a compelling option for budget-conscious fitness enthusiasts.

Design and Build Quality
The TheraFace Mask makes a bold statement with its sleek, white design and red LED accents. Unlike some LED masks, it offers full-face coverage, including the delicate eye area, with removable eye shields for protection. This broad coverage might be appealing to users seeking a more complete facial treatment.

Despite its size, the mask is surprisingly lightweight. The adjustable head strap ensures a comfortable fit, and the soft, breathable padding makes extended use tolerable. A single button controls power and treatment modes on the right, while a separate button on the left adjusts vibration intensity. This keeps things user-friendly, even for those unfamiliar with LED technology.

The Therabody TheraFace Mask arrives neatly packaged with a charging cable, removable eye shields, a stand to place the mask on your desk or nightstand when not in use, and a user manual. Setting it up is a breeze – simply charge the mask, attach the desired eye shields (optional), and adjust the head strap. The included instruction manual provides clear explanations of the different light therapy and vibration modes, making it accessible to everyone.

The TheraFace Mask stand out from the crowd with its excellent design and functions. It comes packed with an impressive 648 medical-grade LED lights, thus surpassing many competitors in this aspect. These LEDs emit red, blue, and infrared light, each delivering distinct skincare advantages. Moreover, the mask integrates Therabody’s renowned percussive technology, featuring 17 vibration motors strategically positioned around the eyes and the back of the head. Its hands-free design enables you to multitask while nourishing your skin, enhancing convenience and flexibility throughout the day.

Functions
The TheraFace Mask is packed with advanced technology designed to deliver targeted skincare benefits. Using a combination of red and blue LED lights, as well as therapeutic warmth, the device works to address a wide range of skin concerns, from fine lines and wrinkles to acne and inflammation.

The red light therapy stimulates collagen production and promotes skin rejuvenation, while the blue light therapy targets acne-causing bacteria, helping to clear up breakouts and prevent future ones. Meanwhile, the gentle warmth emitted by the mask’s infrared light enhances blood circulation and accelerates the absorption of skincare products, leaving your skin glowing and radiant.

You can also choose a single light therapy setting for a more personalised treatment. The TheraFace Mask goes beyond light therapy by incorporating pulsating vibration motors strategically placed around the eyes, forehead, and scalp. According to Therabody, this can reduce facial tension and promote relaxation, enhance lymphatic drainage thus potentially reducing puffiness, and improve product absorption for deeper skincare benefits. The vibration intensity can also be adjusted for a personalised experience.

Usage and Experience
But does the TheraFace Mask live up to its promises? In a word: yes. After weeks of consistent use, we can confidently say that this device delivers on its claims. Skin tone seem to be more even, and breakouts are a thing of the past. You get a complexion that looks healthier and more youthful than ever before. The results are also long-lasting. Unlike other skincare treatments that provide only temporary benefits, the TheraFace Mask works to improve the overall health and appearance of your skin, ensuring that you maintain that coveted glow for the long haul.

One of the standout features of the TheraFace Mask is its user-friendly interface, which makes it incredibly easy to incorporate into your daily skincare routine. The device features intuitive controls that allow you to customise your treatment sessions according to your specific needs and preferences, whether you’re targeting fine lines and wrinkles, combating acne, or simply indulging in a bit of self-care.

And speaking of self-care, using the TheraFace Mask is an experience in itself. The gentle warmth and soothing LED lights create a spa-like atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding after a long day. It’s a moment of relaxation and rejuvenation that you’ll look forward to every day, knowing that you’re doing something good for your skin in the process.

Verdict
Of course, all of this innovation doesn’t come cheap. At AED 2380, the Therabody TheraFace Mask is definitely an investment. But when you consider the cost of professional skincare treatments or salon facials, it’s a small price to pay for the convenience and long-term benefits that this device provides. Plus, with its durable construction and long-lasting results, it’s a purchase that will pay dividends for years to come.

With its advanced features, impressive results, and luxurious user experience, it’s a must-have addition to any beauty arsenal. Whether you’re looking to turn back the clock on ageing skin, banish acne once and for all, or simply pamper yourself with a spa-like treatment at home, the TheraFace Mask delivers on all fronts.

Udoq 550 Charging Dock Review: A Premium Multi-Device Charging Experience

Published

on

In today’s world, we juggle a multitude of devices – smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and more. Each requires its own charger, leading to a tangled mess of cables and a constant battle to find power outlets. Charging docks offer a solution. They provide a central charging hub, eliminating cable clutter and streamlining the charging process. With features such as adjustable ports and built-in safety circuits, docks not only organise your space but also ensure your devices are charged efficiently and securely.

In this review, we take a look at the Udoq 550 Charging Dock, a luxurious charging station that promises to tame the cable chaos and provide a sleek, organised charging solution for your prized electronics. But does this premium dock live up to the hype? Let’s find out!

Design and Build Quality
The moment you unbox and take out the Udoq 550 from its packaging, you will see all the efforts that went into building this thing. Constructed from a hefty 4mm solid aluminium, the dock feels incredibly sturdy and well-built. The smooth, anodised finish is available in a classic silver colour, adding a touch of sophistication to any environment. Silicone protective ribs line the base, preventing scratches and ensuring a stable grip on your desk or nightstand.

The design prioritises minimalism – the dock itself is a simple, rectangular block with a cable management box cleverly hidden in the back. This eliminates the unsightly mess of power adapters and cables often associated with multi-device charging stations. The overall impression is one of elegance and functionality.

Unboxing and Setting Up
The Udoq 550 comes with everything you need to get started: the charging dock itself, a power adapter, four charging cables (depending on the version you purchase, these can be Lightning cables, USB-C cables, or a mix of both), and a cable management box. Setting up the dock is a walk in the park. Simply connect the power adapter to the dock and the cable management box, and you’re ready to go. The included cables are a nice touch, especially if you’re looking for an all-in-one solution.

Features
The Udoq 550 boasts a brilliant charging configuration. Depending on the specific model you choose, it can be equipped with a combination of USB-C and USB-A ports. The 3C+1A configuration (three USB-C ports and one USB-A port) offers a total of 68W charging power, efficiently distributed between the ports. This ensures quick and efficient charging for a variety of devices, from smartphones and tablets to headphones and power banks.

The unit we received was the All-in-One silver variant. It came with two Apple Lightning cables 150 cm (60 inches) for all current Apple mobile devices from the end of 2012. You also get one micro-USB Cable 150 cm (60 inches) for all Android mobile devices, and one USB-C PD cable that offers fast charging for Android devices with a USB-C port, or the new iPads.

One of the highlights of the Udoq 550 is its flexibility. The charging ports can be easily adjusted laterally, allowing you to customise the dock’s layout to fit different device sizes and shapes. This is a thoughtful feature, especially for users with bulky cases or tablets.

The Udoq 550 also prioritises safety with built-in electronic safety circuits. These circuits protect your devices from overcharging, overheating, and overvoltage, giving you peace of mind while your gadgets are juicing up. This is a crucial feature, especially for expensive electronics such as smartphones and tablets.

The Udoq 550 successfully walks the tightrope between aesthetics and functionality. The minimalist design looks great on any desk or nightstand, while the adjustable ports and cable management system ensure a clutter-free charging experience. The use of high-quality materials such as aluminum adds a touch of luxury, making the dock feel like a premium product.

Verdict
The Udoq 550 Charging Dock’s premium build quality, sleek design, and adjustable charging ports elevate the everyday task of powering your devices. The included cables and built-in safety features add to its convenience and peace of mind. However, the price tag of AED 999 is a hurdle, and the larger size might not fit all desk configurations. Ultimately, the Udoq 550 caters to a specific user. If you prioritise a luxurious charging experience and organisation is key, then this dock is a worthy investment.
