on

HP is now delivering new highly configurable options for Z6 G4 workstations featuring Intel Xeon W CPUs. Ideal for demanding creative workloads like 3D animation and rendering, or any workflows that need higher core counts but don’t require the need for a dual-processor system at higher prices.

The need for technology that can speed up the creative process—all within budget—has become a very real challenge today. With support for up to 364GB of memory on the new single-socket Xeon W-3000 series processors, creators can now take advantage of the HP Z6 higher memory capacity, compared to the Z4. The Z6 is also highly expandable with six PCIe slots for future needs as workflow demands increase.

Harnessing the massive expandability of Z workstations allows creators to take on the next generation of workflows beyond 8K productions without having to worry about system constraints. Furthermore, every Z workstation comes with a 3-year warranty, industry-leading software certifications, and amazing reliability with HP Sure Start featuring self-healing BIOS.

Beyond the advancements in the Z6, the entire Z workstations portfolio is designed to scale across creators’ budgets and performance needs, including:

  • TheZ8 G4 is designed for the most demanding workflows, like visual effects and finishing work on high res (including 8K and beyond) content. The industry-leading 1450W (100V) or 1700W (200V) power supply options enables the Z8 to harness the power of fully maxed out configurations, including dual Xeon scalable processors, up to four graphics cards, and up to 68TB of storage capacity. The Z8 also has 7 PCIe slots and supports up to 8 Z Turbo drives, offering the greatest expandability in the Z workstation line up.

  • TheZ4 G4, HP’s best-selling performance workstation, supports up to two NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 GPUs, which supports 8K Redcode RAW decoding and debayering for real-time playback, editing, and colour grading without the need to purchase extra video decoding hardware.  The Z4 is a great value solution for the video editor with support for two full-sized graphics cards, five PCIe slots, and up to 256GB of system memory for fast application responsiveness when working with large content files.

  • And because creators also need a display with color accuracy to match the highest standards, HP offers the HP DreamColor Z31x Studio Display, the world’s most advanced colour-critical display. Sony Intros ECM-L1 Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Plug-in Power

Published

on

Sony Middle East and Africa has announced the ECM-L1, a lavalier microphone that supports 3.5 mm plug-in power, a product of Sony’s time-tested audio technology. This unit was developed based on the ECM-77 series, which has been highly regarded for many years by professionals, including broadcasting studios and production companies. ECM-L1 achieves high-quality sound pickup performance ensuring every word and nuance is captured with precision, as well as high reliability for extended use periods, all cultivated through Sony’s experience in professional audio technology.

In addition, it supports plug-in power and can be seamlessly integrated into a wide range of devices equipped with a 3.5 mm microphone input terminal making it extremely versatile. Thanks to its pin microphone design, it can be worn discretely around the speaker’s collar or shirt for a professional appearance on camera whilst still picking up sound clearly, making it ideal for interviews, documentaries, drama shoots, vlogging and live streams.

In recent years, with the increase in the number of creators producing video content, there has been a growing appetite to improve sound quality. By expanding its microphone line-up, Sony continues to support high-quality audio recording in a variety of situations. The ECM-L1 was developed based on the ECM-77 series, which has been used for many years by broadcasting stations and other organisations.

The capsule’s fixed electrode plate is made of a rigid ceramic. Its superior vibration properties deliver excellent sound quality with good rise time and high resolution. In addition, the microphone capsule is covered with a machined brass exterior to suppress unnecessary external resonance, enabling clear, crisp sound pickup. In addition, the high-purity OFC (oxygen-free copper) cable reduces audio transmission loss without compromising high sound quality.

A durable brass housing protects the microphone so that it holds up against wear and tear, even under rough usage at shooting sites. In addition, the 2.2 mm diameter cable is resistant to breakage and a locking ring is used at the connection point with the recording device to prevent the connector from accidentally coming loose. Two types of windscreens are included to reduce wind and pop noise: metal and faux fur. For a more discreet aesthetic, you can select the metal option, or depending on the shooting scenario, the additional wind noise reduction of the faux fur option is available.

The ECM-L1 lavalier microphone has plug-in power, where power is supplied from the connected device. It can be connected to a wide range of devices equipped with a 3.5 mm microphone input terminal, such as cameras, smartphones, wireless microphones, IC recorders, and computers, enabling high-quality audio recording to suit the many types of use cases. The ECM-L1 will be available in the Middle East and Africa from October 2024.
