Motorola Brings the Razr Back as a $1,500 Smartphone

Published

on

Motorola is bringing back its iconic 2000s flip phone—this time as a $1,500 foldable smartphone. The company announced the new device Wednesday in Los Angeles, debuting its flexible display, which allows it to fold like the original Razr.

The 2019 Razr has the same general form as the original, but replaces the T9 keypad and small LCD with a 6.2-inch foldable plastic OLED panel and the Android 9 Pie operating system. The first Razr, launched in 2004, became something of a cultural icon in the U.S., selling over 130 million units before Apple launched the iPhone in 2007.

The new Razr, which is also the first foldable phone, is set to launch in January 2020.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Boasts Powerful Processor, Huge Storage, and Pantone Colours

Published

on

Motorola is shaking things up in the premium phone market with the Edge 50 Ultra, a device boasting high-end specs, unique design elements, and a competitive price tag. The Edge 50 Ultra goes beyond just powerful hardware. It embodies Motorola’s “hello smARTphone” tagline by offering a phone that’s as pleasing to the eye as it is functional. The series boasts a “harmonious” design, featuring finishes like real wood, suede, and even a special edition “pearl polymer” crafted in Italy.

The phone celebrates its industry-first Pantone Validated camera and display with a special edition colour – the trendy Peach Fuzz, alongside Forest Grey (vegan leather) and Nordic Wood (real wood). A brushed aluminium frame and curved edges complete the sophisticated look and feel. Motorola has strategically focused on what matters most to users while keeping costs in check. The Edge 50 Ultra features a large 6.7-inch Super HD+ display with a super smooth 144Hz refresh rate, ideal for gamers. While it boasts a lower pixel density than some competitors, it prioritizes affordability without sacrificing a great viewing experience.

Similarly, the camera system skips the trendy periscope zoom lens but delivers a well-rounded setup. The main camera is a powerful 50MP Sony sensor with optical image stabilization, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide sensor and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Even the front-facing camera boasts a large 50MP sensor with autofocus, ensuring high-quality selfies and video calls.

Where the Edge 50 Ultra shines is its processing muscle and storage options. It packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, keeping pace with the top flagships. But it goes a step further by offering a staggering 512GB or even 1TB of storage, coupled with 12GB or a whopping 16GB of RAM. This is a remarkable feat at its price point.

The Edge 50 Ultra boasts a large 4,500mAh battery that should last a full day on a charge. But the real highlight is the charging speeds. The phone comes with a 125W charger that can refill the battery in about 20 minutes, and it even supports 50W wireless charging, putting it on par with leading competitors.

Motorola has layered its new Hello UX on top of stock Android 14. This interface offers a light touch, focusing on customization, intuitive gestures, and enhanced AI features through Moto AI. It prioritizes user experience without cluttering the stock Android experience. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will be available in the coming weeks in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania. The starting price for the 12GB/512GB variant is 699 EUR (approximately AED 2700).

CORSAIR Enters DDR5 Workstation Market with RDIMM ECC Memory Kits

Published

on

CORSAIR has announced it is entering the DDR5 Workstation market with the introduction of a range of WS DDR5 RDIMM memory kits. Engineered to offer uncompromising performance and reliability, these ECC RDIMM kits redefine the capabilities of the newest workstations and are compatible with the latest 4th Gen Intel Xeon and AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors.

This new range of memory kits boasts capacities of up to 256GB, setting a new standard for memory-intensive tasks such as high-resolution media editing, 3D rendering, and AI training. Rigorously tested and carefully screened, these modules surpass JEDEC specifications with tighter timings and higher frequencies, ensuring optimal performance for the most demanding workloads.

The DDR5 registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) support Error Correction Code (ECC), enabling real-time error detection and correction for consistently reliable data processing. This commitment to stability caters to the needs of workstation users who rely on uninterrupted performance for their professional endeavours.

Achieving optimal performance is straightforward thanks to support for Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO. A few clicks to load the faster profile in the UEFI BIOS is all that’s required to unleash incredible throughput on compatible hardware, making these DDR5 RDIMMs user-friendly while maintaining top-tier performance.

Understanding the diverse needs of professional users, CORSAIR offers a range of capacities, including 4x 16GB kits (64GB), 8x 16GB kits (128GB), 4x 32GB kits (128GB), and 8x 32GB kits for a massive 256GB of high-speed DDR5 memory. Frequencies reaching up to 6,400MT/s ensure abundant bandwidth to tackle the most resource-intensive tasks.

To help tackle the heat generated during the most intensive workloads, CORSAIR has integrated a PGS layer, efficiently distributing heat away from the Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) and across the RDIMMs. This design ensures quality cooling and reliability even under the most demanding conditions.

CORSAIR WS DDR5 RDIMM memory provides professionals with the memory they need to elevate their work to new heights by getting more done in less time, all backed up by a name they can trust.
