What Makes the TCL C735 Better Than TCL’s 2021 Gaming TV?
TCL makes some of the most beautiful 4K TVs you can buy right now in the market. In recent years, its line of QLED TVs offer a wide range of features that focus on gaming-related technologies such as better contrast ratio, brighter backlighting, and higher refresh rates. Here then is a quick breakdown of the differences between the TCL’s 2021 model C728 and the company’s latest C735 QLED 4K Google TV.
Design and Build Quality
The design of the TCL C735 has been refined when compared with its predecessor, the TCL C728. The 2022 edition now comes with a brand new stand design that is very easy to install and the overall setup looks neat and clean to adapt to any decor. The material used to construct both the televisions is metal, highlighting an almost bezel-less design and a 94.68% screen-to-body ratio, compared to the 94.21% screen-to-body ratio on the 2021 TCL C728.
Display Size and Specs
The TCL C735 is available in various display sizes such as 98-inches, 75-inches, 65-inches, and 55-inches. The 2021 model – the TCL C728 – is available in 75-inches, 65-inches, and 55-inches variants. With the 2022 lineup, you now have an option to go as large as 98-inches, and as they say, bigger is always better, when it comes to displays!
Both TVs offer a resolution of 3840-by-2160, an aspect ratio of 16:9, and a pixel density of 80-PPI. What has changed is the refresh rate. The 2022 model, TCL C735 offers a Variable Refresh Rate of 144HZ, which is usually associated with gaming displays.
Compare this to a mere 120Hz on the 2021 model, the TCL C728. With a higher and variable refresh rate, you get the benefit of going from 48Hz to as high as 144Hz when the on-screen content is demanding. This, in turn, offers faster responsiveness, sharper imagery, and smoother gameplay.
In terms of HDR and related tech, both the 2022 TCL C735 and the 2021 TCL C728 offer HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), and Dolby Vision IQ. With Dolby Vision IQ, C735 enhances the demonstration of Dolby’s exclusive content by displaying a greater number of colours, increasing contrast, and boosting brightness levels.
The availability of HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision IQ, makes the C735 one of the fewest models in the market right now, that take advantage of both technologies to deliver an immersive viewing experience.
Adding to the cinema experience, the C735 also supports Dolby Atmos, which places sounds within multi-dimensional space and puts you in the middle of your f sport, TV, movie, or video game. The immersive audio experience can be found in the form of two 10W speakers in the lower right corner of the bezels.
One of the enhancements implemented in the 2022 TCL C735 is the inclusion of Google TV which powers the overall on-screen experience in a fluid and intuitive manner. Compare this to the Android TV UI + TCL TV UI on the 2021 TCL C728. With Google TV, you get to use the Google ecosystem of apps through its Play Store, thus allowing you to install all your favourite apps onto the TV.
Apps include streaming services such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+, OSN, Zee5,… you name it. The TCL C735 also comes with TCL Game Master, which takes your gaming experience to a whole new level by unlocking advanced display and audio technology and smoother streaming capability.
In addition, the TCL Game Bar on the TCL C735 offers real-time display statistics, aiming aid, toolbox functions, and the quick setting dashboard for an ultimate gaming experience. This means, you can see the gaming parameters such as frame rate, HDR, and so on during the game, and quickly set the related parameters.
The TCL C735 QLED 4K Google TV is a great television if you are on the market for a QLED TV for both entertainment and gaming. The 75’’ variant is now available at a price point of AED 6299 and the 98’’ variant from the XL collection at a price of AED 19999.
It offers stunning visual performance and good integration of electronics to offer more value for your money. The TCL C735 QLED 4K Google TV thus comes across as highly recommended.

Pico also released its Neo3 Link headset in late May for £399, with preorders shipping in early June.
