When it comes to choosing the right laptop there are quite a few things to consider. This includes the processing power, the graphics performance, the display real estate, the price, and so on. In terms of the platforms, there really are two main choices – Windows or Mac.

Now, Windows laptops generally offer more performance and features at an affordable price point. And that really is the case with the Huawei Matebook 13. I have been using the Huawei Matebook 13 for a week now and I wanted to share my experience switching to it from a MacBook Air:

Why ASUS Laptops with OLED Screens Are the Best Option for Gamers and Content Creators?

Published

on

Laptops with OLED screens were launched way back in 2016. However, these were typically reserved for premium devices or expensive gaming laptops. ASUS is breaking new ground by launching its new VivoBook 15 OLED K513 and the ZenBook 13 OLED Lilac UX325. We recently reviewed both the laptops and we came away really impressed with its brilliant OLED screens.

ASUS ZenBook 13 OLED Lilac UX325
The ASUS ZenBook 13 OLED has an up to 13.3-inch OLED HDR display that supports a resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels and a response time of 0.2 ms. The display offers an ultrawide colour gamut of 100% DCI-P3, which is widely used in the motion picture industry and is PANTONE Validated to provide the most precise colour accuracy.

Colour accuracy is usually represented by a 2D colour-gamut diagram that shows how colours are faithfully reproduced, but only at a particular brightness level. However, since the ability to reproduce colours accurately at different levels of brightness is crucial, ASUS OLED panels are calibrated to accurately reproduce colours in a 3D colour volume – showing what the panel would reproduce at 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut regardless of brightness level.

This ensures all content is displayed accurately and as intended by its creators, not just at full brightness but at any brightness setting. This is especially important for HDR content. As a result, our OLED colour volume is up to 1.6X greater than a traditional LCD.

The ASUS ZenBook 13 OLED display also features a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, which can support up to 400 nits of highlight brightness and 0.0005 nits of deep black brightness, providing creators with a brighter and more detailed viewing experience. With extreme contrast and accurate colour reproduction at any level, everything looks crisp and vibrant – even within darker content. This helps with eye comfort, too: you can dial down the brightness, without losing contrast and colour vibrancy, resulting in reduced blue-light emission.

In addition, studies have shown that blue light wavelengths between 415–460 nm can negatively affect the human eyes. To give you peace of mind, the ZenBook 13 OLED display also manages the blue-light ratio to reduce potentially harmful emissions up to 70% less than normal LCD, with certification from TÜV Rheinland for low blue light and flicker-free visuals – promising greater care for your eyes, even after many hours of use.

ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513
The new VivoBook 15 OLED feature an ultraportable design that doesn’t weigh you down. The profile of each model is less than 20 mm and the individual model weighs only 1.8 kg, respectively. Ultrathin and lightweight, VivoBook 15 OLED is easy to slip into your messenger bag or backpack.

The NanoEdge display on the new VivoBook 15 OLED pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with even narrower top and side display bezels. This results in up to an 85% screen-to-body ratio for unrivalled immersion in a much more compact package. Entertainment is simply more awesome with the new VivoBook 15 OLED. The wide-view panel offers exceptional colour reproduction to give you stunning visuals, even when sharing the screen with family, friends, or colleagues.

The ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED has an up to 15.6-inch OLED HDR display that also supports a resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels and a 0.2 ms response time. The display offers an ultrawide colour gamut of 100% DCI-P3, which is widely used in the motion picture industry and is PANTONE Validated to provide the most precise colour accuracy.

The display of VivoBook 15 OLED features Low Blue light mode and Anti￾Flicker technology (Direct Current mode), and also passed the TÜV Rheinland Eye Care certification, which can greatly reduce the harmful effects of blue light and display blinking.

Why OLED?
ASUS OLED display laptops come with a best-in-class colour gamut. They reproduce colours with superb real-life accuracy for professional-grade visuals, making them perfect for professional and creative work, or anyone who simply wants to enjoy the very best colour fidelity. OLED displays, due to the nature of the special organic light-emitting compounds they use, can reduce the harmful blue light by up to 70% compared to LCD displays, making them extra gentle on your eyes to reduce the risk of retinal damage.

In addition, each individual pixel in an OLED display generates its own light, while LCD screens rely on filtered background light. This means OLED panels offer better colour accuracy, as well as improved contrast ratio and higher maximum brightness. In general, this leads to a display that’s more pleasing to the eye. Also, being able to control each pixel individually means OLEDs can easily save power.

Buying a laptop with the OLED technology, such as the ASUS ZenBook 13 OLED Lilac UX325 or the ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513 now, means you’ll be well future-proofed.
