Watch: HUAWEI P40 Pro – The King of Performance and Photography?

Published

on

So we have been using the Huawei P40 Pro for a week now and here’s why the Huawei P40 Pro is a performance king with the best camera.

The first thing you will notice on this flagship is its display. It has a beautiful curve that could remind you of water overflowing from the rim of a filled cup. HUAWEI calls this, the Quad-Curve Overflow Display.

The bezels of the phone are super narrow and the rounded corners offer an ergonomic hold and a near borderless look. Under this gorgeous screen, you get the in-screen fingerprint reader, which offers 30 percent faster biometric authentication.

The P40 Pro is available in two colours in the UAE – Silver Frost and Black starting 9th April, and at the moment they are on online preorders. The one that we got for a review is the Silver Frost variant.

The matte finish on the P40 Pro makes it fingerprint and smudge resistant. The P series from Huawei has always been a trendsetter when it came to colours. We have seen this with the P20 series which featured the gradient twilight colour, and the P30 series which featured Aurora.

And now, the gorgeous matte silver frost on the P40 Pro gives different look and feel depending on how the angle of the light hits the smartphone body. The P40 Pro also features IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

The entire P40 Series is powered by the Kirin 990 5G chipset to deliver integrated 5G connectivity with the most comprehensive 5G band support. It also provides robust AI performance and power efficiency. The 90Hz panel on the P40 Pro takes display responsiveness and gaming experience to a whole new level.

The overall gameplay experience was very fluid and responsive. We did not encounter any lags or stutters. The entire P40 Series comes with 160MHz Wi-Fi 6 Plus technology that offers high-speed internet connectivity.

For years, the P series has brought in smartphone photography innovation. From our experience, the P20 series was a breakthrough followed by the P30 series last year. And this time around as well, the Huawei P40 Pro takes the camera capabilities to a whole new level.

It features an Ultra Vision Leica camera system. This is the industry’s largest CMOS sensor to date. This system is available in triple-camera, quad-camera and penta-camera configurations depending on P40 series model.

The Ultra Vision Leica camera system features Full Pixel Octa PD AutoFocus for high-speed focus at any time of day. You also get HUAWEI’s XD Fusion Engine that integrates and processes data from multiple cameras to generate a comprehensive improvement in picture quality.

The HUAWEI P40 delivers outstanding photographic results with ultra-wide-angle, wide-angle and telephoto lenses. It also features an evolution of the Leica Quad Camera with a more powerful Ultra Wide Cine Camera and ToF Camera alongside 50x SuperSensing Zoom.

The phone brings faraway subjects up close with 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom. For the first time ever, the 5x Optical Telephoto Camera in the Huawei P40 Pro includes a RYYB colour filter array to boost light intake and improve quality of zoomed shots.

The Ultra Vision Wide Camera and SuperZoom Array work together with AI to provide an improved photo and video stabilisation. The P40 series also introduces the HUAWEI Golden Snap feature. This includes the AI Best Moment feature that chooses the best frames from a Moving Picture.

The AI Remove Passerby and AI Remove Reflection can do away with unwanted subjects and glare from the frame, allowing you to easily enhance your images. You also ISO rating of 51200 and Ultra Slow-Motion video capture at 7680fps. The P40 Series supports real-time Bokeh effects for videos as well.

The telephoto camera can also capture high-quality zoom footage and 4K time-lapse videos. The Directional Audio Zoom, available on HUAWEI P40 Pro and HUAWEI P40 Pro+, allows users to zoom in on an audio source and amplify its sound at the same time.

The phone has a 32MP AF Camera and IR Depth Camera that support autofocus and Bokeh reproduction. You also get IR Face Unlock even in low light conditions. Talking about the software, the P40 Pro is powered by Android 10 operating system, with EMUI 10.1 running on top of it.

EMUI 10.1 introduces lots of new features such as Huawei Share. This feature lets you transfer files between the smartphone and other devices such as tablets and PCs quickly. With Huawei Share you can also stream music to a smart speaker, start a screen projection and connect to Wi-Fi by tapping the device you want to connect to, with your phone.

You also get Multi-screen Collaboration which allows you to easily answer video or voice calls hands-free directly through the PC, and open files and hyperlinks on the smartphone with native PC applications for enhanced productivity. The phone comes packed with Huawei’s AppGallery and Huawei Mobile Services.

The AppGallery offers thousands of apps like Snapchat, ToTok and so on, with more apps being added on a regular basis. If you can’t find an app you are looking for, you can add it to a Wishlist after which you will be notified once it’s available.

Services like HUAWEI Video, HUAWEI Music and HUAWEI Reader offer quality entertainment on the go. In terms of performance, everything felt smooth and fluid and the overall experience was fantastic. That’s because it comes packed with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which can be further expanded using Huawei’s nano memory cards.

The P40 Pro comes with 4200 mAh battery. But if you do run out of juice, you can quickly charge the P40 Pro using the 40W supercharger that comes inside the box. It also supports Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge and reverse charging.

To use reverse charging, make sure you switch on the “Reverse Charging” functionality from the Settings menu. The phone also switches the reverse charging off if it does not find any wireless charging device to save battery life.

So that’s the P40 Pro – it is a well-rounded flagship that offers top-notch design and build quality, brilliant camera performance, fast charging, and overall powerhouse performance. For the price of AED 3499, it is a perfect flagship smartphone for someone looking for quality and performance and superior camera for all scenario use.

TOZO HT2 ANC Wireless Headphones Review: Affordable Excellence in Sound and Comfort

Published

on

At Gadget Voize, we’ve previously reviewed a couple of TOZO audio products such as the Golden X1 Wireless Earbuds and the Open Buds. Both offered commendable build and sound quality at a reasonable price.

Recently, we had the opportunity to test the new HT2 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones from TOZO. These over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones deliver quality sound, active noise cancellation (ANC), and equalizer (EQ).

What’s in the Box?
The package includes the TOZO HT2 Hybrid ANC Wireless Headphones, a 3.5mm analogue audio cable, a charging cable, a quick start guide, and a user manual.

Design and Comfort
The review unit we received was black with a matte finish. The headset is primarily made of polycarbonate materials, with the glossy TOZO logo offering a striking contrast against the matte backdrop.

The HT2 features an adjustable band with a brushed metal finish, allowing you to customise the fit. The right ear cup houses the power and volume buttons at the back, and the noise cancellation button at the front. Additionally, an audio port and a USB Type-C charging port are located at the bottom of the right ear cup, providing flexibility for wired or Bluetooth connections.

The headphones are extremely comfortable for prolonged use. The notably soft earmuffs enhance the overall comfort. The plastic build contributes to a lightweight design, making them an ideal travel companion.

Review of the TOZO Golden X1 Wireless Earbuds in the UAE

Sound Quality
The TOZO HT2 headphones offer a very good sound quality, characterised by deep bass, clear mids, and sharp highs. Although they might not meet the high standards of audiophiles, they provide a good sound signature, with a strong soundstage, and powerful bass response.

One of the standout features of the TOZO HT2 is the customisable EQ, available through the TOZO app. The app offers 16 EQ sound profiles, allowing you to adjust the sound to your preference. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who appreciate a personalised audio experience.

The TOZO HT2 comes with Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which effectively minimises low-frequency noise. While it may not be top-tier, the ANC is adequate and does a good job of blocking external noise.

Connectivity
The HT2 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, offering a reliable range of up to 10 meters. Beyond that range, the audio may start to stutter. The headphones also come with a built-in microphone. During testing, the call quality was quite good for a headset of this type. It’s also worth noting that the HT2 can connect to multiple devices simultaneously.

Battery Life
The TOZO HT2 headphones come with a 500mAh battery. At default settings with 50% volume, these headphones offer an impressive playback time of up to 60 hours without the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature.

Review: TOZO Open Buds

However, when ANC is enabled, the playback time decreases to around 40 hours under the same conditions. Such extensive battery life is remarkable, especially considering the price point at which the HT2 is available.

Verdict
The TOZO HT2 headphones deliver great value for their cost. They offer commendable sound quality, adjustable EQ settings, satisfactory noise cancellation, and a comfortable design. Whether you’re a budget-conscious audiophile or a casual listener, the TOZO HT2 headphones make for a reliable choice.

Review: Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Mini

Published

on

The Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Mini is a compact yet powerful soundbar, offering an expansive and meticulously detailed audio experience. The AMBEO Mini is also the most compact device in Sennheiser’s AMBEO soundbar lineup. Even though its small in stature, it goes head-to-head with some of its larger counterparts, by delivering an impressive audio performance.

Design and Build Quality
Although the design of the AMBEO Soundbar Mini is similar to some of the soundbars out there in the market, it distinguishes itself through subtle design changes. Sennheiser has chosen to feature illuminated (dimming-capable) AMBEO branding on the front right-hand corner. Furthermore, the top panel of the mini slopes gently from back to front, while the sides are enveloped in fabric, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic throughout.

On the top of the soundbar, you will find the controls for volume adjustment, Bluetooth connectivity, input selection, playback management, and microphone muting. There’s also a white light strip that lengthens progressively from left to right as volume levels increase, providing a nice visual touch.

Features and Specs
The soundbar offers an audio output of 250 watts and boasts a frequency response ranging from 43Hz to 20kHz. It also comes packed with four 1.6-inch full-range drivers, with two oriented forward and an additional pair situated at the ends, slightly angled outward for optimal dispersion. Positioned near the center of the soundbar are two four-inch woofers, facing upward to deliver immersive bass performance.

Complementing these drivers are six class D amplifiers, collectively capable of delivering 250 watts of power, ensuring a brilliant audio reproduction. Furthermore, the soundbar features four far-field microphones responsible for room calibration; it’s essential to ensure these microphones are unmuted before initiating the calibration process for optimal results. However, the soundbar’s connectivity options are limited to a single HDMI port, which may be a potential drawback for some users.

However, the AMBEO Soundbar Mini’s wireless connectivity makes up for the limitations in wired connectivity. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Apple AirPlay 2, thus offering seamless audio playback. The soundbar also integrates with popular streaming services such as Spotify Connect to enhance the overall user experience. Sennheiser’s dedicated app further enhances convenience by incorporating built-in media player controls, allowing you to stream to and manage the soundbar effortlessly from a single, centralised platform.

Performance
In terms of audio performance, the AMBEO Soundbar Mini offers an awesome overall audio experience by creating an immersive soundstage that includes outstanding detail and clarity, irrespective of what content you play on it. It excels in delivering exceptional audio performance, particularly in smaller environments. However, its effectiveness diminishes in larger spaces, particularly when attempting to replicate a 7.1.4 simulated surround sound experience.

This limitation becomes evident when one considers the Mini’s power output, which is capped at 250W. Meanwhile, the bass output of the Mini is impressively balanced, complementing the intricate details present throughout the sound profile. The delivery of impactful low-frequency effects is missing, however, which is crucial for enhancing the immersive cinematic experience. The absence of thunderous thuds, booming effects, and rumbling vibrations, that can elevate the overall movie-watching experience, is sadly missing.

Verdict
The Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Mini stands as a testament to compact soundbar excellence, offering a brilliant audio performance within its diminutive form factor. It is ideal for those seeking a balance between size and sonic prowess since it excels in delivering superior sound quality and sleek design aesthetics. Despite its premium price tag and the absence of certain features found in competing models, the AMBEO Soundbar Mini comes across as an interesting choice for those who prioritise audio performance and space-saving design.

Having said that, however, there is room for improvement, and refinements could enhance the overall software experience.

Battery Life

The optimisation of the device’s hardware and software ensures that you can navigate through your day without constantly worrying about running out of battery.

The V2 also supports HONOR 66W SuperCharge, which further enhances the device’s practicality. Whether you’re in a rush in the morning or need a quick top-up between meetings, the HONOR Magic V2’s fast-charging feature proves to be a valuable asset.

Verdict

Its technological strides suggest a potential lead over similar devices in the market, establishing itself as a pioneering device at the forefront of innovation within the foldable smartphone landscape. The HONOR Magic V2 comes across as Highly Recommended!
