ASUS Makes Gaming PC Optimization Beginner-Friendly With AI Overclocking, AI Cooling and AI Networking

Published

on

ASUS is one of the largest manufacturers on the gaming hardware market. It churns out one quality product after the other at a lightning speed! The company also dedicates a good amount of resources and investment into R&D to develop technologies that can help its users do cumbersome tasks in hardly a few clicks.

Some of these technologies that are focused purely on performance and gaming are AI Overclocking, AI Cooling and AI Networking. So what are they and what do they do? Well, in this guide, we explain each of these technologies and the methods to start using them.

What is ASUS AI Overclocking?

Overclocking your system means dipping into the untapped potential for better performance. The idea of pushing your CPU past the stock defaults in pursuit of lofty gains is tempting for anyone, but the process can be daunting for beginners. For years, ASUS was been baking loads of tweaking options into its motherboards, including automated tools such as 5-Way Optimization and OC Tuner that make it easy for inexperienced users to test the limits of their systems with just a few clicks.

The company’s latest generation of motherboards take automatic tuning to a whole new level with intelligent prediction. AI Overclocking is faster and more efficient than other methods, and it allows users to overclock a system in just a few short steps from the UEFI or desktop.

ASUS AI Overclocking’s new auto-tuner takes all the guesswork out of overclocking your processor. It’s smarter than the pre-baked profiles used by some solutions because it tailors settings to your individual system. The company’s proprietary algorithm rates the CPU overclocking potential and the cooling capabilities of a PC before producing a score. The resulting Cooler Score forms the basis for the optimized configuration suggested for your rig.

After applying that config, you can set AI Overclocking to keep training, and it will continue monitoring system vitals like temperature, power draw, and fan speeds to assess the effectiveness of your cooling. If your Cooler Score changes, AI adjusts the overclock accordingly. This safeguard ensures your system remains stable through seasonable temperature changes, component upgrades, and dust buildup that can affect cooling efficiency.

The ASUS AI Overclocking is an intelligent utility that helps you get the most out of your build by automatically profiling your CPU and cooling system to predict optimal voltage and frequency settings. Accessible via the AI Suite software in Windows or directly through the UEFI, the intuitive AI Overclocking user interface enables users of all levels. A range of customizable settings are available for seasoned overclockers, and an auto-tuning option is available for beginners.

At the heart of AI Overclocking is a proprietary algorithm developed by ROG R&D engineers who worked with world-renowned overclockers to create a tool for users of all levels. The algorithm analyzes your CPU and cooling system and, based on what it finds, predicts optimal settings.

The software then uses these settings to automatically guide the clocking process, balancing frequency and voltage. The software monitors workload, system temperature, fan speed and power draw every minute, and makes real-time adjustments to ensure ongoing optimal performance.

How to Use it?

The easiest way to use AI Overclocking is through the UEFI, which doesn’t require installing any software. There’s even a guide embedded in the BIOS that outlines the process. To see it, enter the UEFI by pressing the Delete key when the system first boots, and then click AI OC Guide at the top of the screen. When you’re in the UEFI, pressing F11 also brings up the guide.

1: Load, Save and Reboot
Go to BIOS by pressing the Delete key during system boot-up.
Press F5 to load the UEFI defaults, then press F10 to save and reboot. Boot into the operating system.

2: Run a Stress Test
A stress test assesses system performance in order to estimate system potential as well as voltage needs for overclocking. To run a test, choose from any of these benchmarks
Blender / Prime95 / Aida64/ ROG real Bench
Alternatively, you can run the test by using Intel Extreme Tuning Utility.

3: Apply AI OC
Return to BIOS.
Navigate to the Extreme Tweaker section and set CPU Core Ratio to AI Optimized.
Hit F10 to save and reboot.

What Do We Know So Far About HarmonyOS, Huawei’s Open-Source Operating System?

Published

on

With Huawei about to make a major announcement about the future of HarmonyOS, this seems like a good time to take stock of the story so far.

On August 9, 2019, Huawei announced that it had been working on a new operating system called HarmonyOS. During his speech, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer BG, spoke about Huawei’s intention to launch several products running this new OS, and promised that HarmonyOS would be open source.

HarmonyOS will support different types of devices, ranging from household appliances such as range hoods, air conditioners, and water purifiers, to wearable devices, mobile phones, smart cars, computers, and TVs. After more than a year’s iterative update to the OS by Huawei R&D department, the first product running on HarmonyOS 2.0 — the Huawei Vision TV — was launched on September 10, 2020. Two months after that, Huawei made a beta version for phones available to developers.

In terms of the UI, Android users will likely find HarmonyOS familiar and intuitive. They will be able to do the things they are accustomed to doing with their phones in more or less the same way they always have. However, what makes HarmonyOS interesting is the new capabilities it will bring.

With the rapid development of 5G and AI technologies, the Internet of Everything (IoE) is beginning to take shape. However, the IoT market still suffers from fragmentation. Huawei is presenting HarmonyOS as an operating system for the IoE. It allows different devices to connect and share their capabilities with each other.

We know that the moment it appears on phones, HarmonyOS will already be compatible with millions of existing apps. Developers have two major incentives to adapt their Android apps for HarmonyOS. First and foremost, Huawei already has a user base of hundreds of millions of mobile phone users, and many of those users will be able to upgrade to HarmonyOS on their current Huawei phone.

If Huawei’s user base alone is not enough to attract developers, Huawei has also invested $1 billion in Shining Star, a program that offers financial incentives to developers who adapt their apps to run on HarmonyOS. Both the hardware and software end of HarmonyOS is characterized by openness.

In addition to opening up the source code to app developers, Huawei has also invited third-party manufacturers to create HarmonyOS-compatible hardware. Currently, more than 300 app developers and more than 20 hardware vendors have participated in the construction of HarmonyOS ecosystem.

In a recent interview, Wang Chenglu, President of Software Engineering Dept of Huawei Consumer Business Group, said that he expected HarmonyOS to be running on 300 million individual devices in 2021. In a different interview in December 2020, he spoke about how Huawei is trying to reduce the workload for developers who choose to adapt their apps for HarmonyOS.

“Developers often spend a lot of time and effort on developing apps for devices in different sizes and different interaction modes. HarmonyOS, however, encapsulates complex operations of different devices into APIs, which developers can use directly. This means developers only need to focus on app development, since UI adaptation will be done automatically by HarmonyOS,” Chenglu added.

Huawei says that HarmonyOS has received strong support from ecosystem partners and developers. “In the future, more ecosystem partners will apply HarmonyOS to ever-increasing variety of devices and innovative apps, making Huawei’s vision of a Seamless AI Life a reality,” the company says.
