Video: Unboxing and Review of the BenQ GS2 Projector

Everyone loves watching movies but when it comes to watching on a bigger screen at home, there are two obvious choices – television or projector. With a television, its size is usually dependent on the kind of budget you have to spend. But with a projector, you have the flexibility of increasing the screen size as per your requirement.
There are many projector brands available on the market and BenQ is one of the front runners in this category. And they recently announced a wireless portable DLP projector called GS2, which has been designed for indoor and outdoor entertainment.
Upon sliding the sleeve off the box and opening it, you will see a stylish and protective carry case inside. Unzipping the carry case, the first thing you see is the remote control. The remote control is quite slim. The carry case also includes the power adapter which comes with a magnetic power connector.
Digging deeper, you get three sets of power cables and the BenQ GS2 portable wireless projector. The box also has a side compartment, which includes a wireless dongle, the warranty info, user manual and other paperwork.
In terms of design, the GS2 is near cubical looking projector, coming in off-white colour. It weighs around 1.6 kgs and comes in a dimension of 139-by-144-by139 mm. The overall build quality is pretty good and it comes in a completely rubberised body.
This is because it is IPX2 rated, which means it can withstand half-a meter drop and is also splash-proof up to a certain extent. On the top of the projector, you will find the soft control buttons needed to operate it. There is a power button, three LEDs that indicates the battery life left, and the IR receiver.
You also get the back button, the home button and the options button with the d-pad in the center and the OK button. On the right edge, there is a rubberized panel that pulls out to expose the HDMI input, a USB-A slot and USB Type-C socket. There’s also a 3.5mm analogue audio output for plugging in a speaker.
The GS2 also comes with two speakers built in, each driven by a 2W amplifier. There is also a USB Type-A socket in the deep bay which can be used to insert the dual band WiFi dongle, which comes packed with the device. At the rear, you will find the speaker grilles, the cooling vents and the magnetic power port.
The projector also comes with a tillable base which also includes a tripod mount. There are also cooling vents on the bottom of the device. On the front you will find the projector lens and a sensor that helps to automatically adjust the focus and keystone settings of the projector. The focus, brightness and other settings can also be adjusted through the user interface.
The projector can be used for front projection, rear projection and even ceiling projection. Now lets talk about the specifications. So, the heart of any projector its projection technology and the lamp it uses. The BenQ GS2 is a DLP projector that uses an LED lamp.
The estimated life of the lamp is between 20,000 hours to 30,000 hours depending on your usage. So, imagine if you watch 6 hours worth of content daily on the GS2, the lamp will last you around 9 years. The GS2 also offers a native resolution of 720p and 500 nits of brightness.
It offers a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and a native aspect ratio of 16:9. Under the hood the GS2 is powered by an MStar 648 SoC. It comes with Android 6.0 operating system. You also get 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage space. Since the GS2 is wireless portable projector, it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery.
The battery offers around four hours worth of battery life. In terms of charging, we were able to go from 20% battery to 100% battery in less than an hour. We used the BenQ GS2 about 6-7 hours daily for a week. We found it to be very silent and there was no heating issue either.
During our review period, we used various interfaces to project content – either through HDMI, USB, or wirelessly by screen casting. In terms of the picture quality, the colours were vibrant and the brightness was up to point. The projector was placed about 6 feet away from the wall.
Even in a dimly lit room, the picture quality’s quite clear. The text display on the screen was quite crisp and sharp and the overall experience was pretty good. As the GS2 is powered by Android 6.0 operating system, you can also install third party apps through Apptoide TV which comes preinstalled. Apptoide TV is a third party Android app marketplace that offers more than 2500 apps.
In terms of connectivity to external audio, you get two options – Bluetooth and Bluetooth Speaker Mode. The Bluetooth option allows you connect the GS2 to external audio sources like Bluetooth speakers and audio accessories. The Bluetooth Speaker Mode will let you go from a Projector Mode to Speaker Mode by turning off the lamp.
For example, if you are camping and you need to only play music, you can use the GS2 as a Bluetooth speaker. Also, the GS2 has got a built-in hotspot function. This means the BenQ GS2 will connect to one data-enabled device and distribute the internet connection to multiple device. In terms of wifi connectivity it offers two bands – 2.4G and 5G.
Another interesting feature of the GS2 is that it allows you to choose the wall colour from threes different options – light yellow, pink and blue. Depending on your choice, the GS2 will then enhance the display settings in order to project crisp and clear images. The BenQ GS2 is priced at $680.
For that price point, you are getting a wireless portable projector that can be used for indoor and outdoor entertainment. You also get the flexibility of increasing the screen size as per your requirement and installing third party apps onto the device.
The BenQ GS2 wireless portable rechargeable projector is an all-round device that can be used as a projector, a Bluetooth speaker, a WiFi hotspot, an external charging device for your smartphones, and so much more. And that makes it a perfect projector for both work and play.

AMD Intros Next-Gen RX 9060 XT at COMPUTEX 2025

Reporting from Taipei, Taiwan: AMD has officially revealed its latest midrange GPU, the Radeon RX 9060 XT, at COMPUTEX 2025, setting up a direct showdown with Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti. Built on 4nm RDNA 4 architecture, the new card brings notable upgrades, including 32 compute units, 64 AI accelerators, and 32 ray-tracing cores, positioning it as a strong competitor in the mainstream gaming market.
The RX 9060 XT will be available in 8GB and 16GB GDDR6 configurations, though Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti retains an edge in memory bandwidth thanks to its 28 Gb/s GDDR7 (delivering 448 GB/s vs. AMD’s ~322 GB/s on a 128-bit bus). Real-world performance comparisons will be crucial to determine how much this gap impacts gaming.
AMD has set the boost clock at up to 3.13 GHz, with an impressive 821 TOPS for AI workloads—a key focus in modern gaming and content creation. Power efficiency looks promising, with a TDP between 150W and 182W, while connectivity includes PCIe 5.0 x16, DisplayPort 2.1a, and HDMI 2.1b. Early indications suggest the RX 9060 XT will excel at 1080p gaming and handle 1440p smoothly, but 4K enthusiasts may still prefer the RX 9070 or 9070 XT for higher settings.
AMD has yet to announce pricing or a firm release date, leaving room for speculation on whether it can undercut Nvidia’s offering. With both GPUs shaping up to be closely matched, the final battle may come down to cost, driver optimization, and feature sets.

Editor’s Pick: HUAWEI WATCH 5 Series is the Best Smartwatch You Can Get in 2025

The HUAWEI WATCH Series is not updated every year. The WATCH 4 came out almost 2 years ago and the WATCH 3 is about 4 years old now. This is a rarity among smartwatch brands. But for consumers, this is a win. There is no constant pressure to upgrade every year and each new iteration of the WATCH Series comes out with more than some superficial glow-up. Naturally, when the HUAWEI WATCH 5 launched there was much excitement and pep.
Now, Huawei also has a WATCH GT Series that’s entirely separate from the HUAWEI WATCH Series. The WATCH GT 5 was debuted last year. Compared to the WATCH GT Series, though, the WATCH Series is more upscale with premium materials and even more advanced features. So, does the WATCH 5 Series justify the long wait? In more ways than one. It brings a brand-new sensor, a futuristic design, a revamped app ecosystem, and more.
X-TAP is a health revolution
The WATCH 5 Series makes big strides towards becoming a serious health management device. It draws inspiration from real medical devices and introduces a fingertip sensor called X-TAP. The HUAWEI X-TAP is a 12mm long glass sensor on the side of the watch body that redesigns smartwatch health management with the industry’s first all-in-one sensor. In cardiovascular health monitoring, the quality of physiological signals collected through fingertips is much more reliable, which can unlock more accurate, faster, and comprehensive health monitoring. The fingertips contain an abundance of blood vessels and a thinner skin surface, greatly reducing signal interference from skin pigmentation, hair, etc. You can check your SpO2 levels in under 10 seconds by placing your finger on the X-TAP sensor.
The watch also has the Health Glance feature, which is a smarter, more accurate and more attentive way to asses your health by analysing 11 bodily indicators and long-term health trends. Despite the comprehensive nature, it only takes Health Glance 60 seconds to generate a report.
For most users, raw health metrics don’t mean much. Much more important is the correlation between different monitoring results and, above all, what they mean. That’s why the WATCH 5 introduces Health Insights. It analyses the correlation between health indicators in sleep and heart health scenarios through visual cues and textual analyses, offering personalised health advice and smarter health management.
Futuristic design, tough build
The front of the watch has a prominent spherical design that incorporates a spherical sapphire glass screen, second only to diamond in hardness. The use of premium materials goes beyond sapphire. The HUAWEI WATCH 5 42mm, available in Beige and Sand Gold, features a 904L stainless steel casing—the same alloy used in luxury watches known for its exceptional corrosion and wear resistance. Meanwhile, the HUAWEI WATCH 5 46mm, available in Silver and Purple, uses Aerospace-grade Titanium material, which is 45% lighter than 904L stainless steel, 1.8 times stronger, and 1.5 times harder.
A finely crafted classic trapezoidal crown tops of the design. The new X-TAP button that sits on the side next to the crow blends into the overall visual language without drawing too much attention. Everything from the spherical watch face to the new retrofuturistic hues and high-end materials lends the watch a unique appeal that exudes precision and craftsmanship.
Apps and ecosystem
The HUAWEI WATCH 5 Series supports e-sim cellular calling, standalone navigation, onboard music streaming, and access to Huawei’s ecosystem of fitness and general apps. It can handle key tasks without needing your phone constantly in your pocket.
The watch also introduces new gesture controls designed for one-handed use. Users will now be able to tap and Double Slide with their fingers to instantly interact with their smartwatch. You can easily answer or hang up calls, switch music, and take photos by double tapping or swiping your fingers with one hand, greatly improving the efficiency of smartwatch usage.
Battery life that keeps giving
The battery life of Huawei watches has always been astonishing. Despite all the added features and even an extra sensor, Huawei has managed to keep it impressively long. In Standard Mode, HUAWEI WATCH 5 46mm can last for up to 4.5 under normal usage and 42mm edition can last up to 3 days on Standard Mode. The battery life can be extended with the Battery Saver Mode, allowing the watch to last up to 7 days on the 42mm edition and 11 days on the 46mm edition.
The HUAWEI WATCH 5 brings a whole host of new features to smartwatches while the rest of the industry has been largely in a trickle. And just like that, Huawei once again proves it is far ahead in health and well-being management. What’s more, the HUAWEI WATCH 5 works equally well with iOS and Android devices, making it a universal choice for everyone looking for a smartwatch in 2025.
