Published

on

Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G smartphone comes with a 6.67-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. The Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G runs Android 10 and is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable battery. The Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G supports proprietary fast charging.

Check out the unboxing and review of the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G:

Xiaomi launched the Mi 10 series in February this year and just a couple of days ago, they announced their new Mi 10T series. The Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G comes packed in minimalist white packaging. Upon opening it up the first thing you see is a paper sleeve.

Inside that, you get a clear protective case and some paperwork that includes the quick start guide and the warranty information. Digging deeper, you get a 3.5mm audio to USB-C converter if you are still using your favorite pair of headphones and don’t want to switch from it just because you got a new phone.

You also get a USB-C cable that’s orange in colour at the connectors and a 33W fast charger. On the right edge of the device, you get the volume rockers, and just below it, there’s a power button that also doubles up as the fingerprint scanner.

Apart from the fingerprint sensor, you can also unlock the device by using face recognition. On the bottom of the device, you get the speaker grille, the USB C port, and the dual SIM card slot. On the top, you get the IR Blaster and noise-canceling microphones.

The overall design and build quality are top-notch. The phone has a metal frame running around it, while the front and back are made of glass. On the front, you get a 6.67-inch display that offers a whopping 144Hz refresh rate. The maximum resolution it offers is 1080-by-2400 pixels and a pixel density of 395 PPI.

The panel used on the smartphone is the LCD variety to keep costs low. But, the display looks really nice irrespective of what you play on it. Under the hood, the Mi 10T 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.

The phone runs on the Android 10 operating system with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 running on top of it. You also get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. The overall UI is quite clean and intuitive to use. And the spec list is enough to power most apps on the market including games.

The performance felt smooth and we did not encounter lags or stutters when flipping through multiple app windows. Gaming sessions were quite good too and the gameplay felt quite fluid. Turn the phone around and you come face to face with a triple camera setup.

This camera module includes a 64MP main camera that offers an f/1.9 aperture. You also get a 13MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.4 aperture, a 5MP Macro lens with f/2.4 aperture, and a sensor for the Auto Focus. The phone was able to capture some amazing shots under good lighting conditions.

To check out the real-world performance, we went to The Fresh Market in Al Aweer. As you can see in the video above, the images are quite vibrant and crisp. The videos captured natural and the colours popped out. On the front, you get a 20MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture for all your selfie requirements.

In terms of battery, you get the 5000MAH variety that offers a battery life of a little more than a day without needing a recharge. For a price of AED 1799, the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G is worth the money you spend on it.

OnePlus 12 to Get Wireless Charging Again

Published

on

The imminent launch of the OnePlus 12 is generating anticipation, with OnePlus adhering to its customary practice of revealing specifications and details prior to the official unveiling. Li JieLouis from OnePlus confirmed on Weibo that the OnePlus 12 is scheduled for release in China on December 5, shedding light on several key features of the upcoming flagship.

A predictable yet noteworthy inclusion in the specs is the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This powerful processor aligns with the high-performance standards associated with OnePlus devices. Another intriguing detail mentioned is the introduction of a “2K Oriental Screen,” likely referring to the display showcased by OnePlus in October. During this preview, an IR blaster was highlighted, a feature reiterated by JieLouis. Additionally, a brief reference to “rain touch” suggests the incorporation of technology showcased by OnePlus that enhances touchscreen functionality when wet.

The camera setup on the OnePlus 12 is anticipated to feature a Sony Lytia LYT-808 sensor. Earlier teasers provided insights into the camera’s capabilities, showcasing the periscope zoom lens. Drawing parallels with the OnePlus Open, which also utilizes a Sony Lytia sensor, raises expectations for impressive camera performance.

However, the standout revelation is the return of wireless charging on the OnePlus 12. While OnePlus had previously offered wireless charging, it was notably absent in the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Open without clear justification. The absence left enthusiasts speculating on the feature’s future in OnePlus devices. The specifics of the wireless charging capabilities, such as potential improvements or adherence to previous 50W charging standards, remain undisclosed. Nevertheless, the mere confirmation of its reintroduction has been met with enthusiasm.

Notably, the OnePlus 12’s debut is set for December 5 in China, with global markets expected to receive the device in January, as per reports. The return of wireless charging adds an extra layer of anticipation for OnePlus enthusiasts, and the device’s overall features indicate a promising addition to the OnePlus flagship lineup. With certification underway, there’s speculation that OnePlus might embrace Qi2, potentially making it among the pioneers in adopting this wireless charging standard. As the launch date approaches, the OnePlus 12 holds the promise of delivering an enhanced user experience with its powerful internals and innovative features.

Bang & Olufsen Launches Beolab 8

Published

on

Bang & Olufsen introduces the Beolab 8, a speaker characterized by its elegance and compact design. The Beolab 8 is known for its versatility, capable of standing out on its own or seamlessly fitting into any setup. It performs admirably regardless of its placement, whether as the centrepiece of a home sound system or as a solitary point of sound.

This speaker can function as part of a system, contributing to an immersive home cinema experience when paired with the latest high-end Bang & Olufsen speakers or even heritage speakers dating back to 1984. For those seeking a high-fidelity music experience, stereo pairing two Beolab 8 speakers creates a powerful and precise stereo sound.

In addition to its role in a system, the Beolab 8 can also be used as a stand-alone speaker. Despite its compact size, it delivers impressive depth and intense bass, enhancing the overall audio experience. “Our goal is to create powerful and immersive listening experiences for our customers. Beolab 8 provides exactly this. It is a scalable speaker that is all about flexibility, performance, and innovation,” says Michael Henriksson, Vice President of Product Marketing at Bang & Olufsen.

“Drawing inspiration from the high-end Beolab range, our aim for Beolab 8 was to distil the acoustic essence of these impressive speakers into a compact offering that maintains the directivity and sound beam control for optimal sound reproduction in any environment. Bringing immersive experiences for every moment,” he added.

Beolab 8 boasts a design that exudes beauty from every perspective, regardless of its placement. The seamless one-piece aluminium body represents a fusion of a sphere and cylinder, forming a solid shape that reflects the impeccable craftsmanship of Bang & Olufsen’s renowned Factory 5. Available with either Danish-manufactured wooden lamellas or a fabric front, Beolab 8 adheres to the distinctive design language seen in other Bang & Olufsen products, such as Beolab and Beosound lines, including Beosound Theatre, Beolab 28, and Beolab 50.

Between the outer aluminium shell and the inner core, the interplay of light and shadow contributes to a visually lightweight appearance. Aligned with Scandinavian design principles, where form complements function, the speaker’s shape serves both as an aesthetic object and an enhancer of its acoustic capabilities. The glass interface atop the speaker forms a seamless curve that guides the user’s finger effortlessly across the surface.

Featuring four slender and sculptural stand options, each crafted with Bang & Olufsen’s expertise in aluminium manufacturing, the table stand creates a floating illusion, while the discreet ceiling bracket and floor stand are polished to perfection. Tuned by Bang & Olufsen tonmeisters, the three-driver setup of Beolab 8, including a 16mm tweeter, 3” midrange, and a 5.25” woofer, ensures an exceptional audio experience. Building on the heritage of the iconic Beolab 17 speaker, the tonmeisters carefully selected drivers that maintain the same performance and sound quality, allowing listeners to enjoy the renowned Beolab speaker sound.

Nevertheless, the performance of Beolab 8 has been significantly enhanced through the integration of beam width control, room compensation, adaptive tuning, and ultra-wideband technology.

  • The beam width control feature enables users to effortlessly switch between two distinct listening experiences. Beolab 8 allows for precise narrowing of the audio beam to optimize the sweet spot for the listener. Alternatively, users can opt for a wide sound dispersion throughout the room, with the front LEDs on the speaker indicating the current sound mode status.
  • Beolab 8’s Room Compensation feature tailors the audio output to the unique acoustics of the room. By carefully mapping its environment, the speaker ensures crystal-clear sound quality regardless of the room’s size or layout. A neodymium motor further enhances the experience, delivering a soundscape adapted to the specific surroundings for a fully immersive music experience.
  • Through adaptive sound tuning, Beolab 8 adjusts its configuration by utilizing sensors to detect the front cover and fine-tune the sound for optimal performance. This is facilitated by small sensors in the speaker and magnets within the cover, allowing Beolab 8 to identify the cover type and automatically apply the appropriate tuning.
  • Leveraging ultra-wideband technology, Beolab 8 goes beyond adapting to the room; it can also direct the acoustic sweet spot based on the user’s phone location via the Bang & Olufsen app. This ensures an immersive sound experience with a dynamically adjustable sweet spot.

Embedded with Bang & Olufsen’s Mozart platform, Beolab 8, as a standalone device, effortlessly connects through WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Equipped with Powerlink, which is both wireless and wired and integrated into the speaker, Beolab 8 functions as a true system speaker, establishing a connection with Bang & Olufsen TVs and sound systems spanning over 30 years.

Designed for enduring appeal, Beolab 8 incorporates quality materials that age gracefully, offer continuous customization options, and allow for easy upgrades over time. Its long-term serviceability and replaceable streaming module ensure adaptability to the latest technology standards. The speaker is crafted in accordance with Cradle-to-Cradle principles, a design philosophy focused on proactively creating products for a circular future. Beolab 8 is currently in the process of obtaining Cradle-to-Cradle certification.
