Review: Fitbit Inspire 2

Published

on

When it comes to fitness trackers, one of the first brands that come to mind is Fitbit. The company recently announced a slew of new smartwatches and fitness trackers, including the Inspire 2. At AED 399, it is Fitbit’s most affordable fitness tracker that also comes with one year’s worth of Fitbit Premium for free.

In terms of look and feel, the Fitbit Inspire 2 looks similar to the Fitbit Inspire HR. The tracker is a bit slimmer this time around. The bands on the fitness tracker are now also removable – so you get access to a variety of personalisation options including Fitbit’s steel mesh and Horween leather double-wrap strap.

There are no physical buttons on the tracker. Instead, you need press or squeeze the sides of the tracker’s case to do things like wake up the display, skip back a screen or open up the settings. You also get the same greyscale display, though I felt the text on the screen was a bit sharper than its predecessor. Even when you are outdoors, the screen is quite bright.

In terms of colour options, you get three – black, white or pink. With the Inspire 2 you’re also getting the ability to submerge it in water up to 50 meters deep, making it suitable for showering and going for a swim.

In terms of tracking, it does everything you expect from a quality fitness tracker. This includes calories burned, heart rate, distance, and inactivity. It also monitors your heart rate continuously 24/7. You’ll then be able to look at your sleep quality and sleep stages, including REM and light sleep, so you can see where you fit compared to averages.

The Inspire 2 also comes with over 20 sport modes. These are used along with Fitbit’s SmartTrack software which automatically recognises when you indulge yourself in different sports. You can also use Connected GPS to work off your smartphone’s GPS and track your outdoor adventures such as hiking or cycling, with better accuracy.

What’s more, the Inspire 2 also comes with a free 1-year Fitbit Premium trial for new Premium users. This serivce offers personalised guidance, exclusive insights and sleep tools to keep you fitter and healthier. In addition, you also get on-screen notifications, smartphone app alerts, guided breathing, and menstrual health tracking.

In terms of performance, the Fitbit Inspire 2 was brilliant. While the advertised battery life is 10 days, we were able to use the tracker for close fo 6 days on a single charge. If you are looking for a slim, light and comfortable fitness tracker that does an amazing job at tracking everything and is available at an affordable price point of AED 399, the Fitbit Inspire 2 is a good tracker to buy.

on

Huawei Consumer Business Group UAE has today unveiled its innovative new range of Super Device products including the HUAWEI WATCH 3|3 Pro, the new 12.6-inch HUAWEI MatePad Pro, HUAWEI FreeBuds 4, HUAWEI MateView, and HUAWEI MateView GT, in the UAE. Today, consumers have more smart devices than ever before, but they are often in siloed systems that make interconnection difficult and as a result creates a fragmented user experience. Huawei’s Super Device experience provides the solution by enabling different devices to seamlessly connect and collaborate in a convenient and secure manner. Distributed technology is used to allow all types of different devices to connect under one system. This means previously independent products now form part of a cohesive and holistic “Super Device”. This integrates all hardware and resources and thereby effortlessly leverages the capabilities of its component devices based on a user’s needs.

On this occasion, Pablo Ning President of Consumer Business Group in the Middle East and Africa commented: “Today marks the most important launch event this year as we are about to unveil a new range of “Super Device” Experience Products across the region and in the United Arab Emirates specifically.” He added: “Through this new range of Super Device products, Huawei is giving consumers in the UAE access to a seamless and truly intelligent experience across multiple devices in all different types of scenarios. The Super Device new products range is just another step in our efforts to deliver the best possible future-oriented user experience with a forward-looking approach.”

A new “Smart Office” experience brings a productivity hub that breaks through boundaries for maximum creativity and efficiency. Super device connectivity with and without wires, along with HUAWEI MateView, HUAWEI MatePad Pro, and Huawei MateBook exemplifies full integration suitable for our busy lifestyles. Supported by the distributed data management and task scheduling capabilities of HarmonyOS, the tablet, laptop, and smart monitor can work together seamlessly to double our productivity and creativity in different scenarios, whether you are in the office or working from home. This is done by HUAWEI MatePad Pro and HUAWEI MateView’s wireless projection capability along with Mouse and keyboard control. The advantage of the new “Smart Office” experience is the easy swapping of wireless and wired connections sharing the screen, cross-device file dragging and dropping, delivering a more efficient and collaborative multi-device experience. This allows us easily switch between work mode and personal mode.

The price and availability of all these products in the UAE will be announced soon.

Review: Huawei Band 6

Published

on

Huawei’s new Band 6 is positioned as a fitness tracker that offers a big screen to track your progress, check out notifications, and lots more.

Inside the box, you get the Band 6 along with a bunch of accessories that includes the charger with magnetic pins, and the user manual. The Band 6 comes with a 1.47-inch AMOLED FullView Display on the front with a physical button on its right edge.

In terms of features, the Band 6 also comes with all-day heart rate monitoring, SpO2 monitoring, pressure and sleep monitoring, and stand-up reminders.

What’s more, this device also comes with 11 professional workout modes such as indoor and outdoor running, cycling, and rope skipping, and 85 customised modes including fitness, ball games, and dancing types, offering wide coverage of workout tracking.

Huawei also claims that the device offers a battery life of up to 14 days in regular mode. In addition, it supports fast charging, TruSport sports algorithm, and 5ATM water resistance. The wrist band of the Band 6 is made of silicone and the colour we received for this test was the forest green variant.

The band also offers abnormal resting heart rate alerts. This means Band 6 builds on the 24/7 heart rate monitoring technology, thus alerting the user if the resting heart rate is too high or too low. If the data stays high or low for over 10 minutes when the user is resting, the band will inform the user of the irregularity.

Adults with a resting BPM (beats-per-minute) above 100 are normally considered to have a high heart rate. Furthermore, adults with a resting BPM below 50 are normally considered to have a low heart rate (although people in deep sleep, active adults, and career athletes may have an average resting heart rate below 50 BPM).

The Band 6 also comes with The Huawei TruSleep 2.0, which automatically calculates the duration of your sleep, thus identifying moments when you fell asleep and woke up and the proportion of light sleep to deep sleep and rapid eye movement (REM). This data can help you accurately identify any of six typical sleep issues: insomnia, shallow sleep, night-time awakenings, early morning awakenings, excessive dreams, and an irregular sleep pattern.

In terms of the colours, the Huawei Band 6 is available in Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Sakura Pink, and Forest Green – the one we received for this review, as mentioned before, was the Forest Green variant. Huawei Band 6 also supports Watch Face Market thus providing you with more than 100 stylish watch faces to truly personalise the band.

I used Band 6 for over two weeks to track my workouts, sleep patterns, SpO2 levels, and so on. The Huawei Band 6 did a really good job, showing me my health stats and how I was doing overall. The workout modes built into the Band 6 does help a lot in planning your workout sessions.

For very affordable pricing of AED 229, the Huawei Band 6 offers lots of value. You get a FullView display, 2-week battery life, very good sleep and stress tracking, SpO2 and heart rate monitoring, 96 workout modes, and lots more. The Huawei Band 6 thus comes across as highly recommended.
