A Ventilation Kit for Facemasks Called Aeronest to be Showcased at GITEX 2021
NewPadMaker – TazTag, a French company with more than 15 years of experience in technological innovation, will be introducing at GITEX Technology Week (17th-21st Oct) its latest innovative tool to meet the demands of the modern world in which wearing a mask has become the new “norm”. The daily wearing of face masks to protect ourselves and the people around us, particularly in situations where we are forced to wear them for longer hours, brings with it some challenges and struggles which need to be addressed. To this end, the NewPadMaker team has developed Aeronest, which is a ventilation device to be attached to the mask.
Aeronest is a patented French innovation that can be safely and effortlessly attached to a face mask with a magnetic holding system that doesn’t interfere with the structure or the filtration efficiency. Once the device’s integrated fan is safely installed between the mask and the face, Aeronest will draw fresh air in from the outside. Thanks to Aeronest’s convenient design, it can fit on any type of mask (N95, FFP2, surgical, fabric), while its 3 ventilation speeds – which can be easily adjusted with one click without the need to remove it – allow the airflow to be renewed for 8-12 hours.
By pulling fresh air into the mask, Aeronest reduces the temperature, humidity, and CO2 inside the mask, which in turn helps eliminates the causes of fatigue, skin pimples, and steam on glasses. And by attaching the ear-loops to the strap behind the head, Aeronest can additionally ease the mask’s pressure on the ears and erase the pain. Suitable for everyone, Aeronest can be conveniently used on a daily basis at work, while shopping, on flights and public transport, in schools and universities, in hospitals, in cinemas, and in theaters.
“We are extremely pleased and proud to introduce our unique product that exemplifies technology in service of human health and wellbeing. Aeronest is innovation at its best, developed to help us breathe easy while keeping protected from contracting and spreading the Covid-19 virus”, said Eric Fouchard, President of NewPadMaker.
Commenting on the company’s participation at Gitex Future Stars 2021 in Dubai, Mr. Fouchard added, “Gitex Dubai is a major global technology event, which is key to showcasing our innovative product to the world. It will also give us the opportunity to meet with local and international potential partners and distributors in order to make Aeronest available to all worldwide.”
Following its Gitex participation and as part of the company’s efforts to showcase its innovative device in major tech events around the world, Aeronest will be also exhibited at the Concours Lepine Paris, 21st October – 1st November 2021.
Dyson Launches New Air Purifier in the UAE Market
Dyson has launched its latest generation of purification machines in the UAE, with new solid-state formaldehyde sensing technology. According to the company, its new Dyson Purifier Formaldehyde range is designed to capture ultra-fine dust and allergens while destroying potentially dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde. The colourless gas pollutant is released by furniture and wooden products containing formaldehyde-based resins like plywood and fibreboard, as well as insulating materials and do-it-yourself products such as paint, wallpapers, varnishes and household cleaning products.
Being 500 times smaller than particles the size of 0.1 microns, formaldehyde is particularly difficult to capture and, if left undetected, can lead to prolonged exposure due to the continuous release of airborne chemicals, known as off-gassing. While other gel-based formaldehyde sensors can deteriorate over time and are easily confused with other VOC pollution, Dyson’s new, solid-state formaldehyde sensor works alongside Dyson’s unique algorithm to precisely monitor formaldehyde levels- intelligently ignoring other gases which are detected by a dedicated VOC sensor.
Tireless and ever-dissatisfied, Dyson engineers have also re-engineered the machine airflow pathways to achieve fully-sealed HEPA 13 standard filtration – not only ensuring that no air bypasses the filter but blocking any potential leak points through which dirty air might enter the airflow. This means Dyson’s latest purifiers remove 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. Improvements of the airflow journey have made the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde 20% quieter, without any compromise on purification performance to reduce unwanted noise at home.
Alex Knox, Vice President of Environmental Care at Dyson, said, “The off-gassing tendency of formaldehyde means that it can go undetected in a home for years. Dyson has engineered a machine that provides accurate and successful sensing, capture and destruction of the pollutant. Our solid-state sensor doesn’t dry out over time, lasting the lifetime of the machine. The COVID-19 pandemic has raised global awareness about the air that we breathe and Dyson’s commitment to providing cleaner air through innovation and technology remains at the forefront of our mission.”
“Dyson Purifier machines are engineered for real spaces. The industry standard for testing air purifiers measures performance using a laboratory test conducted in a compact chamber 12m² in size, with a ceiling fan to circulate the air and one sensor inside the room measuring air quality. For more representative testing, Dyson’s POLAR test is based on a larger room size of 27m² with no added fan and uses eight sensors in the corners of the room and one sensor in the centre to collect air quality data,” the company said.
In addition to the existing particle, NO2, VOCs, temperature and humidity sensors, the integration of an intelligent formaldehyde sensor ensures precise sensing of the pollutant for the lifetime of the machine. Formaldehyde sensors can be gel-based and may deteriorate gradually as they dry out over time. Using an electrochemical cell, the Dyson formaldehyde sensor does not dry out and its unique intelligent algorithm cross-checks data every second, selectively sensing to avoid confusion with other VOCs.
Dyson’s Selective Catalytic Oxidisation (SCO) filter continuously destroys formaldehyde at a molecular level. The catalytic filter has a unique coating, with the same structure as the Cryptomelane mineral. Its billions of atom-sized tunnels are the optimal size and shape to trap and destroy formaldehyde, breaking it down into tiny amounts of water and CO2. It then regenerates from oxygen in the air to keep destroying it continuously without ever requiring replacement.
In Dyson’s new purifiers, it’s not just the filter that meets HEPA H13 standard, but the whole machine. It captures H1N1 virus and 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns such as allergens, bacteria, pollen and mould spores. Dyson engineers took a forensic approach to achieve a fully-sealed machine, creating high-pressure seals at an additional 24 critical points to prevent dirty air from bypassing the filters and carrying pollutants back into the room.
The Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde purifying fan is now available in the UAE, at dyson.ae, in Dyson Demo zones, and in partner retail outlets, starting at AED 2699.
Blueair Intros the new HealthProtect in the Middle East
Blueair has launched the HealthProtect air purifier, which the company claims remove 99.99% of live airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus, as per independent third party tests under laboratory conditions. Jonas Holst, Chief Product Officer for Blueair said, “HealthProtect is the result of several years of R&D and consumer insights as we see that across the globe, even before the current pandemic, viruses and bacteria are one of the main concerns for people. So with HealthProtect we wanted to create a germ-fighting machine, an air purifier that would reassure you even when in standby mode. This is what makes HealthProtect unique, and of course the fact that every component has been carefully designed in Sweden to provide the highest performance and energy efficiency.”
“HealthProtect uses HEPASilent Ultra, Blueair’s most advanced filtration technology to date. This technology combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration to remove up to 99.97% of airborne pollutants such as dust, pollen, dander, mould. The technology also removes VOCs (including formaldehyde), odours and nanoparticles down to 0.03 micron and up to 99.99% of viruses and bacteria. Compared to traditional “true HEPA” filtration used in most air purifiers, HEPASilent Ultra silently delivers 50% more clean air and uses 55% less energy and 10% less noise than traditional standard HEPA filtration,” the company said.
Even when the HealthProtect air purifier is on standby, the GermShield technology proactively monitors the room using temperature and humidity sensors and automatically activates when conditions are optimal for germ growth. GermShield uses a low air draft to ensure no new growth of germs, and plasma charging to deactivate existing viruses and bacteria on the filters.
Unlike other air purifiers that only push clean air to a small part of the room, the SpiralAir outlets are uniquely engineered to deliver 360°, omnidirectional airflow to quickly circulate more clean air to every corner of the room (based on recommended room size and AHAM’s globally recognised standard of five Air Changes Per Hour). The HealthProtect has a high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), successfully cleaning all the air 5 times per hour meaning it will clean the optimal room size that it’s recommended for in only 12 minutes.
Smart features in the Blueair app like “Clean air ETA (estimated time of arrival)”, Automode and real-time pollutant tracking of fine particles (PM1 – 2.5) such as smoke, bacteria, and viruses plus coarse particles (PM10) such as dust, pollen, and spores, helps you to understand how household activities and cleaning product choices are impacting your air quality. HealthProtect is easily voice-controlled by Amazon Alexa and Google Home, or remotely via the Blueair app.
Even its filters are smart: HealthProtect is equipped with a smart filter powered by an RFID chip that accurately monitors the filter used within the unit. When it’s time to replace the filter, the Blueair app will send you an alert and allow you to re-order at the touch of a button. With SmartFilter you can be assured you’ll always have clean air delivered to your home. The smart sensor algorithm accurately calculates how much-polluted air has passed through the filter and as a result is able to tell you exactly when to change the filter. The filter lifetime can be prolonged up to 12 months. The filter is also cleverly designed as a ‘booklet’ shape so you close it when changing it, therefore avoiding contact with the inlet (dirty side) of the filters.
HealthProtect also comes with cleanable pre-filters that capture larger particles like dust. These conveniently pop out for quick maintenance and significantly extend the lifetime of the main filter, which goes in line with the sustainability initiatives Blueair drives. Air purifiers are generally recommended to be placed in the rooms where you spend the most time. This is often the bedroom. Many air purifiers, however, cannot clean the air without making a lot of noise. The HealthProtect uses HEPASilent Ultrafiltration technology to deliver its powerful filtration performance quieter than a whisper (30 dB) on the lowest setting and a normal conversation (65 dB) on the highest. The smart ‘Night’ mode will optimise the settings and turn off any lights that could disturb a good night’s sleep.
Every component is uniquely engineered in Sweden to provide the highest performance and energy efficiency. Blueair’s Swedish heritage is also apparent in the choice of sustainable, high-quality stainless steel and thoughtful design features such as easy-to-clean pre-filters and hidden wheels. HealthProtect has been independently tested by third-party laboratories and top testing institutes.
The HealthProtect comes in two sizes: 38m2 and 62m2. Available now from major retailers including Amazon.ae and Niahome.ae. From AED 2,649.
