Blueair Intros the new HealthProtect in the Middle East

Published

on

Blueair has launched the HealthProtect air purifier, which the company claims remove 99.99% of live airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus, as per independent third party tests under laboratory conditions. Jonas Holst, Chief Product Officer for Blueair said, “HealthProtect is the result of several years of R&D and consumer insights as we see that across the globe, even before the current pandemic, viruses and bacteria are one of the main concerns for people. So with HealthProtect we wanted to create a germ-fighting machine, an air purifier that would reassure you even when in standby mode. This is what makes HealthProtect unique, and of course the fact that every component has been carefully designed in Sweden to provide the highest performance and energy efficiency.”

“HealthProtect uses HEPASilent Ultra, Blueair’s most advanced filtration technology to date. This technology combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration to remove up to 99.97% of airborne pollutants such as dust, pollen, dander, mould. The technology also removes VOCs (including formaldehyde), odours and nanoparticles down to 0.03 micron and up to 99.99% of viruses and bacteria. Compared to traditional “true HEPA” filtration used in most air purifiers, HEPASilent Ultra silently delivers 50% more clean air and uses 55% less energy and 10% less noise than traditional standard HEPA filtration,” the company said.

Even when the HealthProtect air purifier is on standby, the GermShield technology proactively monitors the room using temperature and humidity sensors and automatically activates when conditions are optimal for germ growth. GermShield uses a low air draft to ensure no new growth of germs, and plasma charging to deactivate existing viruses and bacteria on the filters.

Unlike other air purifiers that only push clean air to a small part of the room, the SpiralAir outlets are uniquely engineered to deliver 360°, omnidirectional airflow to quickly circulate more clean air to every corner of the room (based on recommended room size and AHAM’s globally recognised standard of five Air Changes Per Hour). The HealthProtect has a high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), successfully cleaning all the air 5 times per hour meaning it will clean the optimal room size that it’s recommended for in only 12 minutes.

Smart features in the Blueair app like “Clean air ETA (estimated time of arrival)”, Automode and real-time pollutant tracking of fine particles (PM1 – 2.5) such as smoke, bacteria, and viruses plus coarse particles (PM10) such as dust, pollen, and spores, helps you to understand how household activities and cleaning product choices are impacting your air quality. HealthProtect is easily voice-controlled by Amazon Alexa and Google Home, or remotely via the Blueair app.

Even its filters are smart: HealthProtect is equipped with a smart filter powered by an RFID chip that accurately monitors the filter used within the unit. When it’s time to replace the filter, the Blueair app will send you an alert and allow you to re-order at the touch of a button. With SmartFilter you can be assured you’ll always have clean air delivered to your home. The smart sensor algorithm accurately calculates how much-polluted air has passed through the filter and as a result is able to tell you exactly when to change the filter. The filter lifetime can be prolonged up to 12 months. The filter is also cleverly designed as a ‘booklet’ shape so you close it when changing it, therefore avoiding contact with the inlet (dirty side) of the filters.

HealthProtect also comes with cleanable pre-filters that capture larger particles like dust. These conveniently pop out for quick maintenance and significantly extend the lifetime of the main filter, which goes in line with the sustainability initiatives Blueair drives. Air purifiers are generally recommended to be placed in the rooms where you spend the most time. This is often the bedroom. Many air purifiers, however, cannot clean the air without making a lot of noise. The HealthProtect uses HEPASilent Ultrafiltration technology to deliver its powerful filtration performance quieter than a whisper (30 dB) on the lowest setting and a normal conversation (65 dB) on the highest. The smart ‘Night’ mode will optimise the settings and turn off any lights that could disturb a good night’s sleep.

Every component is uniquely engineered in Sweden to provide the highest performance and energy efficiency. Blueair’s Swedish heritage is also apparent in the choice of sustainable, high-quality stainless steel and thoughtful design features such as easy-to-clean pre-filters and hidden wheels. HealthProtect has been independently tested by third-party laboratories and top testing institutes.

The HealthProtect comes in two sizes: 38m2 and 62m2. Available now from major retailers including Amazon.ae and Niahome.ae. From AED 2,649.

Review: HomePure Zayn Air Purifier

Published

on

The HomePure Zayn Air Purifier claims to remove 99.94% of viral particles from indoor air. The air purifier combines a prefilter and patented HPP+ Electrostatic Film to eliminate particles as small as 0.1 microns. The device also comes with an enhanced antiviral HPP+ filter cartridge. This antiviral mesh filter houses a tri-layer system that removes 99.94% of viruses.

Inside the box, you get the Zayn Air Purifier, the quick start guide, the warranty info, a plastic stand, and the power adapter with multiple plug options. The Zayn comes packed with Ultraviolet light and an Ultra-Plasma Ion Filter to kill airborne viruses and bacteria. There is also an Activated Carbon Filter, which eliminates unpleasant odours, gasses, and vapours.

The device also comes with built-in air quality sensors, an indicator to alert users when the filter needs changing, child-safe lock features, and a night mode that dims lights for worry-free sleep. In addition, the device is designed for easy maintenance – you can simply wipe it clean whenever you change the filter.

Setting up the device is quite simple. The top and bottom parts of the HomePure Zayn get magnetically attached. Once it is detached, you will be able to replace the HPP+ filter cartridge. The body of the device is made of plastic and you will find all the buttons to operate it on the top of the device.

These touch-sensitive buttons include ion, UV, fan speed level, child lock, night mode, and timer. There is also an HPP+ Filter Change Indicator on the top. In the center of the button panel is the power button.

The air purifier has been certified by the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) and it covers an indoor area of up to 36 sqm. The company claims that the Zayn can reduce viral particles including the novel coronavirus. It should be noted that when used properly, air purifiers and HVAC filters can help reduce airborne contaminants including viruses in a building or small space. However, by itself, air cleaning or filtration is not enough to protect people from COVID-19.

Once the device is switched on, the LED indicator near the vents will light up in orange or green to indicate the quality of air in the surrounding. We were able to go from orange to green in about 1 hour of operating the device. While reviewing the device, we closed the windows of the room where Zayn was tested in.

For a price of $770, the HomePure Zayn is a good device, though there is no support for a smartphone app, like many air purifiers out there in the market. However, if you are in the market for an air purifier that comes with an ion filter, HPP+ filter, and a UV light built-in, you should definitely check out the HomePure Zayn.
