TPV Technology to Participate at EStars Tournament to Show Off its New Range of AOC and Philips Gaming Monitors
TPV Technology Limited has just announced its participation at EStars as part of a new agreement that will see its own brands AOC and Philips utilize their gaming monitors for use in esports tournaments. EStars is currently one of the biggest names in grassroots esports tournaments, where players from all ages are invited to join and compete in a fun and engaging way.
This comes as EStars has recently opened a dedicated gaming hall at The Dubai Mall last month. Located opposite the Zabeel Link Bridge, it is currently the first esports hall located inside a mall. Aside from offering the best game selections and setups in the region, the hall also includes a private VIP room fitted with four PlayStation 5 consoles with unlimited mini snacks that can be booked for group sessions.
This ongoing partnership between TPV and EStars offer a great opportunity to reach out to customers who want a hands-on experience with some of the best gaming monitors available today. One of the displays currently being showcased is the Philips 558M1RY 55-inch gaming monitor, where players can get the chance to try it on games such as Apex Legends, PES 2021, Gang Beasts, Brawhalla, Just Dance and Driving Simulator to name a few.
Other monitors currently on display include the AOC C27G2, a 27-inch curved VA panel gaming monitor that comes with a 165Hz refresh rate, support for free sync technology, and a 1ms response time that’s perfect for gamers. Also, present will be the Philips 272M8 that is part of the Momentum series of gaming monitors. It features a 144Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth gameplay as well as AMD FreeSync, 1ms response time and a Smart Image Game Mode for advanced players.
To celebrate the partnership, EStars is hosting an in-store competition featuring Driving Simulator where players can showcase their skills in the fastest lap contest. Gamers stand a chance to win an AOC C24G2 gaming monitor as the main prize as well as other giveaways.
Debapriya Bhattacharya, Marketing Manager of TPV Technology ME said, “TPV is excited to partner with EStars through its brands AOC and Philips and deliver the first live gaming setup since lockdowns were imposed last year. It is a great opportunity to make a big comeback in the world of gaming with EStars and to reach out to more customers thanks to its location at The Dubai Mall. We can’t wait for gamers to experience the different zones and VIP areas at EStars, where they can expect a great gaming session that is maintained with the highest safety measures.”
EStars will have special themed zones inside the store, as well as EStars merchandise for gamers who want to play in style. The store also offers play-per-hour sessions on consoles that include the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Seasoned gamers can also take a stroll down memory lane with the retro gaming machines that you can view inside the gaming hall.

LG Unveils World’s First Bendable 5K2K Gaming Display
LG has unveiled a groundbreaking 45-inch “5K2K” OLED monitor capable of transitioning from a flat screen to a 900R curved display. The innovative panel, the 45GX990A, offers unprecedented flexibility and a suite of features designed to cater to gamers and professionals.
The monitor’s key feature is its “Dual-Mode” functionality, which allows users to switch between resolution presets and aspect ratios with a simple toggle. This enables seamless transitions between 21:9 and 16:9, or other picture sizes (39, 34, or 27 inches), offering eight different configurations without navigating complex menu settings.
The “5K2K” resolution translates to 5,120 by 2,160 pixels, effectively matching the height of a 4K display (3,840 by 2,160). While this ultrawide format is ideal for gaming with compatible titles, it’s also expected to enhance productivity for professionals needing extensive screen real estate.
The monitor boasts VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) technology, although specific refresh rate details remain undisclosed. It is confirmed to support Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium, ensuring smooth gameplay. Connectivity options are expected to include DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, along with 90W power delivery.
As a standard OLED display, the 45GX990A offers the rapid 0.03ms response times characteristic of this technology. While some may find other curved monitors, such as Alienware’s AW3225QF, aesthetically superior, the LG model prioritizes size and adaptable curvature.
The sheer size of the 45-inch display is expected to eliminate the need for multi-monitor setups for many users. The monitor allows users to choose their desired level of curve, from a slight bend for standard workstation use to a more immersive curve for gaming or entertainment.
LG also announced other monitors in the UltraGear GX9 series, including the 45GX950A, which offers the same 5K2K OLED panel but with a fixed 800R curve and a “virtually borderless design.” A “smart gaming monitor,” the UltraGear 39GX90SA, also joins the lineup. This 800R curved OLED display integrates LG’s webOS, enabling smart TV-like functionality for streaming games and movies.
Pricing and release dates for the UltraGear GX9 series are yet to be revealed. LG is expected to showcase the monitors at CES 2025 in early January. While the company recently launched its transparent Signature OLED T for $60,000, it is anticipated that the UltraGear GX9 series will be released sooner and at a lower price point, although likely still in the premium range given its advanced features and size. Last year’s high-refresh-rate monitor from LG launched at $1,400, providing a potential benchmark for the new series’ pricing.
