Huawei Launches the FreeBuds 4i Silver Frost Edition

Huawei has announced the launch of the new Silver Frost Edition of its high-quality sound earphones with what it claims offers the longest battery life and active noise cancellation – the Huawei FreeBuds 4i – in the United Arab Emirates. The Huawei FreeBuds 4i Silver Frost Edition comes with high-quality sound, super long battery life, active noise cancellation, and fast charging in addition to its sleek, stylish, and lightweight design, and compatible with different operating systems including Android and iOS.
For a more convenient experience, users can download the Huawei AI Life app to adjust settings or perform various control, such as wearing detection, quick control, status query, noise cancellation control, and device management. These pair of high-quality sound earphones will be up for grabs in the UAE on 15/07/2021 at the price of AED 279.
The design of the Huawei FreeBuds 4i was inspired by the black sand beaches of Iceland. The waves have washed incessantly over the volcanic rock for millennia, while the rock has stood its ground on an unending mission to guard the shores, sunrise to sunset. Following this design inspiration, the Huawei FreeBuds 4i’s charging case and earbuds adopt a rounded design with smooth edges. Aside from the new Silver Frost edition, Huawei FreeBuds 4i is available in classic Carbon Black and Ceramic White, and elegant Red; these iconic colourways allow users to turn their earphones into a part of their outfits.
For comfort, the Huawei FreeBuds 4i has undergone thousands of rounds of comfort tests, and finally adopted a design that fits the ear canal, delivering a comfortable wearing experience. Moreover, Huawei has reduced the weight of each earbud. This combined with the 3 sizes of soft silicone ear tips, users can enjoy their music all day. When pairing with a Huawei smartphone or tablet, Huawei FreeBuds 4i supports proximity Bluetooth pairing that users do not need to find the earphone in Bluetooth settings but simply connect through a pop-up window.
The Huawei FreeBuds 4i is also compatible with different operating systems including Android and iOS, and establish a stable Bluetooth connection. For a more convenient experience, users can download the Huawei AI Life app to adjust settings or perform various control, such as wearing detection, quick control, status query, noise cancellation control, and device management. Active noise cancellation has become an exclusive feature for the pricier earphones in the market, but that is not the case for Huawei FreeBuds 4i. The Huawei FreeBuds 4i Series aims to deliver high-end features and experiences with an affordable price tag.
Huawei FreeBuds 4i uses active noise cancellation algorithms to create an inverted soundwave to cancel out the environmental noise detected from the microphones. In addition, Huawei’s engineers optimized the algorithm for the most common user scenarios and locations in everyday life, such as transportation, café or shopping mall, delivering a natural and comfortable ANC experience.
Aside from music, another important use of earphones is conducting voice calls. Huawei FreeBuds 4i comes with an anti-wind design that can effectively minimise the noise from wind during calls. Together with the neural network AI technology, Huawei FreeBuds 4i can relieve noise interference for clear calls. Inside Huawei FreeBuds 4i’s compact design is a 10mm large dynamic driver that enables a wider range of amplitudes for punchy bass. The separate rear chamber design also ensures consistency in sound effects and comfortable listening for the user.
The diaphragm is also crucial to the audio quality. For Huawei FreeBuds 4i, it adopts a PEEK+PU polymer diaphragm to give the speaker a higher degree of sensitivity and rich dynamic responsiveness to restore the details from the music, together with the professional tuning, Huawei FreeBuds 4i is tuned for users to enjoy high-quality pop music. Battery life is one of the consumer pain points for TWS earphones, affecting their experience of using the earphones. Same as other members from the Huawei FreeBuds Series, Huawei FreeBuds 4i inherits the powerful battery life for a full-day music experience.
According to the data from the Huawei laboratory, when Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is turned off, Huawei FreeBuds 4i can offer 10 hours of continuous music playback or 6.5 hours of voice call on a full charge. Together with the charging case, it could achieve up to 22 hours of music playback or 14 hours of a voice call. In that case, even without the charging case, Huawei FreeBuds 4i is able to satisfy user’s daily use.
Even if the Huawei FreeBuds 4i runs out of battery, there is no need to worry as it features a quick charge which could provide 4 hours of music playback with a 10-minute charge. With the battery life and charging technology, Huawei FreeBuds 4i could continuously provide quality music to users.

HUAWEI Intros Open-Ear FreeArc Earbuds

Huawei has launched its latest audio innovation, the HUAWEI FreeArc, further solidifying its leadership in the fast-growing open-ear wearables segment. Designed for comfort and situational awareness, the FreeArc offers a secure, pressure-free fit without blocking the ear canal—catering to users who demand high-quality audio without sacrificing awareness of their surroundings.
Open-ear earbuds, which sit outside the ear rather than inside it, have surged in popularity due to their comfort and safety benefits, particularly for fitness enthusiasts, commuters, and professionals. According to Canalys, global shipments of open-ear headphones reached nearly 8 million units in Q3 2024—a staggering fourfold increase from the same period last year.
Huawei has been at the forefront of this shift. The company ranked first in global wearable shipments for the first three quarters of 2024 (IDC), backed by its extensive audio R&D network—including seven research centers, over 1,000 audio specialists, and more than 250 patents. Its first open-ear model, the HUAWEI FreeClip, has already surpassed 2 million units shipped worldwide, demonstrating strong consumer demand for innovative wearable audio solutions.
Huawei’s journey in open-ear wearables began in 2019 with its collaboration with Gentle Monster on HUAWEI Eyewear, blending fashion with cutting-edge audio technology. The FreeClip, launched later, marked Huawei’s entry into the Open Wireless Stereo (OWS) category, featuring a flexible C-bridge design for a lightweight, breathable fit.
Now, the FreeArc takes this legacy further as Huawei’s first open-ear earbuds with earhooks. Built with a nickel-titanium alloy frame, the new model enhances stability and adaptability for a wider range of ear shapes while retaining the signature C-bridge comfort. Engineered for active lifestyles, the FreeArc boasts an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance, making it ideal for workouts, travel, and daily commutes. Key enhancements include:
- High-sensitivity drivers for crisp, balanced sound
- Dual-Resonator Antenna for stronger connectivity
- Wind-resistant microphones for clearer calls in outdoor environments
With the FreeArc, Huawei continues to refine its open-ear offerings, combining ergonomic design with practical durability.

Apple’s Beats Unveils Powerbeats Pro 2 with Heart-Rate Monitoring

Apple Inc.’s Beats division has unveiled the long-awaited Powerbeats Pro 2, which features noise cancellation, a heart-rate monitor, and a revamped design aimed at athletes. This new model incorporates capabilities seen in Apple’s AirPods, such as transparency mode for better external noise awareness and the H2 chip for enhanced sound quality. Additionally, it offers improved spatial audio for a 3D listening experience and comes with a smaller, wireless charging case.
The heart-rate monitor is a notable first for Apple-designed earbuds, expanding the company’s health-related features, and utilizes technology found in the Apple Watch. Despite a slow holiday season for Apple’s wearables business—with sales in the division falling nearly 2% to about $11.8 billion—the introduction of these new earbuds is anticipated to drive interest and sales.
Priced at $250, the same as the previous model, the new Powerbeats Pro 2 will be available in black, orange, purple, and a color called quicksand. This price point matches the AirPods Pro 2, although the Powerbeats may be more appealing to athletes due to their secure ear hooks.
Apple Vice President Oliver Schusser, who oversees Beats as well as the company’s sports, TV+, and music initiatives, hailed the new Powerbeats as “the most impressive product in Beats’ history.” Acquired by Apple in 2014 for $3 billion, Beats remains the company’s largest acquisition to date.
The heart-rate monitor will be compatible with fitness apps like Peloton, Nike Run Club, Ladder, and Slopes, with data integration into the Apple Health app. The earbuds will also be compatible with Android devices. Apple is reportedly working on AirPods with heart-rate monitoring, though they are still many months away from release.
In terms of battery life, the Powerbeats Pro 2 holds an advantage over AirPods, with 10 hours of usage on their own and 45 hours with the charging case, compared to six hours for AirPods alone and up to 30 hours with the case. However, AirPods continue to offer unique features, such as a new hearing aid functionality.
