HUAWEI Launches the MateView GT Gaming Monitor in the UAE
With the growing popularity of gaming over the recent years, users’ tastes in their equipment have become increasingly sophisticated. One such trend is the use of ultrawide monitors in gaming setups which have completely won over the hearts of gamers everywhere and for good reasons as well. These larger screens not only boast an impressive set of hardware, but more importantly, they offer a significantly more intimate and immersive gaming experience thanks to the larger screen estate that surrounds the gamer.
The refresh rate is more often than not the deciding factor when users are looking to purchase a new gaming monitor. Given the quality of games and the calibre of gaming PCs nowadays, users need to have at least one display with a 144Hz refresh rate at the bare minimum before they can enjoy gaming genres such as First-Person Shooters (FPS). It is the question of whether the new display is capable of offering a visually richer viewing experience to enhance the gameplay experience. Lastly, users are also looking out for monitors with eye protection features to relieve the fatigue built up from their long gaming sessions, which include dry eyes and irritation due to exposure to blue light.
Grounded by extensive research and in-depth understanding of gamers’ needs and behaviour, Huawei officially launched the HUAWEI MateView GT – its first immersive surround screen monitor that is designed for gamers and users seeking next-level audio and visual entertainment.
The HUAWEI MateView GT features a 34-inch screen with a screen resolution of 3440 x 1440 and an ultra-wide aspect ratio of 21:9, giving approximately 33 per cent more viewing area than most mainstream 16:9 screens. With a 1500R super-curved design, the screen provides an immersive gaming experience with its significantly larger field of view. The HUAWEI MateView GT empowers users with a level of clarity and detail beyond the capabilities of the naked eye, allowing them to enjoy the thrill of the game like never before.
The depth of gameplay immersion hinges on the colour gamut of the display. The HUAWEI MateView GT supports a cinematic 90 per cent P3 colour gamut and 10-bit colour depth, covering 1.07 billion vibrant colours. With a professional-grade colour accuracy of ΔE<2, the monitor also allows gamers to indulge in a gorgeous and hyper-realistic visual feast.
The refresh rate is the key defining feature for any gaming monitor and is usually associated with the quality of the display. While the basic entry-level monitors are usually capable of running up to 60Hz, the refresh rate for higher-end gaming monitors can oftentimes be up to 160Hz. Higher refresh rates reflect better video quality, reduced damage to the eye, and an overall improved gaming experience. Conversely, a low refresh rate can result in flickering screens which put unnecessary strain on the eyes and accelerate fatigue.
The HUAWEI MateView GT boasts an impressive 165Hz refresh rate, effectively eliminates display flicker for a buttery-smooth gaming experience for its users. Furthermore, in genres like FPS where a split-second decision can determine the outcome, a higher refresh rate can offer users invaluable advantages to help them pull ahead of their competitors.
A universal dread among the gaming community is to experience the dizzying screen tearing, which would compromise the gaming experience. what’s worse, the severe tearing can even cause a mild headaches. To offer a tear-free experience, the HUAWEI MateView GT supports a variable refresh rate by leveraging an adaptive synchronization technology, eliminating screen-tearing, stuttering, and latency issue for a fluid gameplay experience.
The HUAWEI MateView GT also comes with the Dark Field Control and Crosshairs feature to elevate their FPS gameplay experience. Leveraging the Dark Field Control, users can adjust the display brightness and contrast at any single moment to help them gain an edge over their hidden in-game enemies. Users can also take advantage of the Crosshairs feature to overlay their game with a crosshair and help them drastically improve their aiming.
The HUAWEI MateView GT sports an innovative and functional unibody SoundBar design which serves as a monitor base as well as powerful dual speakers. The Soundbar supports touch control for volume, highly convenient and intuitive even during gameplay. It also features an RGB lighting hub with 36 individually addressable RGB lights, offering an extensive range of colour-changing options. What’s more, users can customise their favourite lighting effects. Coupled with the intelligent noise-cancelling microphone at the top of the monitor, HUAWEI MateView GT can create an ultimate atmosphere for gamers.
Extended gaming sessions may cause damage to the eye. The HUAWEI MateView GT has passed the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification, meaning it is more than capable of filtering out harmful blue light during games. The monitor also supports DC Dimming technology, eliminating screen flickering which accelerates cause eye fatigue.
The newly launched HUAWEI MateView series, include HUAWEI MateView, a standalone monitor that puts special emphasis on its design without compromising on quality, resulting in a display with pleasing aesthetics and performance. The HUAWEI MateView features a 28.2-inch display with a 4K+ 3850 x 2560 resolution that brings incredible colour reproduction. Its 3:2 aspect ratio means that users have more vertical room to see documents and web pages in a taller view. The ultra-thin bezels deliver a more immersive feel, achieving an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 94% and a screen that’s as thin as 9.3mm.
After accumulating years of technological expertise in the fields of smartphones, notebooks and tablets, Huawei is now leveraging its innovative technologies and quality craftsmanship into its all-new monitor line-up. As the company’s first immersive curved display, the HUAWEI MateView GT inherits the spirit of the Mate Series and is an ideal display for both gamers and users seeking more immersive audio and video entertainment. The HUAWEI MateView series bring a forward-thinking approach that complements Huawei’s Super Device experience, letting users enjoy seamless collaboration across displays, laptops, smartphones, tablets and etc.

LG Unveils World’s First Bendable 5K2K Gaming Display
LG has unveiled a groundbreaking 45-inch “5K2K” OLED monitor capable of transitioning from a flat screen to a 900R curved display. The innovative panel, the 45GX990A, offers unprecedented flexibility and a suite of features designed to cater to gamers and professionals.
The monitor’s key feature is its “Dual-Mode” functionality, which allows users to switch between resolution presets and aspect ratios with a simple toggle. This enables seamless transitions between 21:9 and 16:9, or other picture sizes (39, 34, or 27 inches), offering eight different configurations without navigating complex menu settings.
The “5K2K” resolution translates to 5,120 by 2,160 pixels, effectively matching the height of a 4K display (3,840 by 2,160). While this ultrawide format is ideal for gaming with compatible titles, it’s also expected to enhance productivity for professionals needing extensive screen real estate.
The monitor boasts VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) technology, although specific refresh rate details remain undisclosed. It is confirmed to support Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium, ensuring smooth gameplay. Connectivity options are expected to include DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1, along with 90W power delivery.
As a standard OLED display, the 45GX990A offers the rapid 0.03ms response times characteristic of this technology. While some may find other curved monitors, such as Alienware’s AW3225QF, aesthetically superior, the LG model prioritizes size and adaptable curvature.
The sheer size of the 45-inch display is expected to eliminate the need for multi-monitor setups for many users. The monitor allows users to choose their desired level of curve, from a slight bend for standard workstation use to a more immersive curve for gaming or entertainment.
LG also announced other monitors in the UltraGear GX9 series, including the 45GX950A, which offers the same 5K2K OLED panel but with a fixed 800R curve and a “virtually borderless design.” A “smart gaming monitor,” the UltraGear 39GX90SA, also joins the lineup. This 800R curved OLED display integrates LG’s webOS, enabling smart TV-like functionality for streaming games and movies.
Pricing and release dates for the UltraGear GX9 series are yet to be revealed. LG is expected to showcase the monitors at CES 2025 in early January. While the company recently launched its transparent Signature OLED T for $60,000, it is anticipated that the UltraGear GX9 series will be released sooner and at a lower price point, although likely still in the premium range given its advanced features and size. Last year’s high-refresh-rate monitor from LG launched at $1,400, providing a potential benchmark for the new series’ pricing.
