Review: EZVIZ C8C Outdoor Smart IP Security Camera

Published

on

Ever since people started working from home, there has been an increased demand for home security solutions such as security cameras. There are many options available on the market, with EZVIZ being one of the brands offering such solutions. The company recently launched its C8C Outdoor Smart IP Security Camera on the market.

The C8C is is an outdoor security camera that captures 1080p HD footage and comes packed with pan and tilt features for 360-degree coverage. In addition, it also offers strobe light, motion and person detection, and colour night vision.

It is also IP65-rated for dust and water protection and it supports microSD card storage up to 256GB. Inside the box, you get the C8C camera along with a bunch of accessories, including the quick start guide with the QR code to link up the camera in the app, a drill template, rawl plugs, and screws to mount the camera, and the power adapter.

Installing and activating the camera is very simple and you wouldn’t require a technician to do it for you. you can either install the camera vertically on a wall or horizontally on the ceiling. Once the camera is installed, you can set it up by connecting it to your network via Ethernet, or you can use the EZVIZ app to set it up via Wi-Fi.

Since the camera does not come with a battery built-in, you would need it to be permanently connected to a power outlet. Through the EZVIZ app, you can either view live footage or recorded videos. You can even click a photo or being recording while viewing the live footage, which is great.

You can even program it to start recording based either on human detection or on any type of movement. The camera comes with six levels of motion sensitivity and you can adjust that through the app. In terms of night vision, you get two modes – the standard infrared (black and white) version and a colour version which is illuminated by a spotlight.

There is also a “smart” mode that chooses infrared as the default setting but will switch automatically to the spotlight mode if a motion is detected. During our testing, both the modes worked really well and we found the app to be very intuitive.

There is also an “Active Defense” mode which uses the spotlight to deter intruders on your property, by blinking the spotlight continuously. What’s missing though, is a two-way audio feature that could be used to speak to people outside your door and listen to them, too.

In order to store the recorded footage, you can either use a microSD card or the EZVIZ cloud storage, which is available on a subscription basis. For recording videos, you have three options, which include full HD recording at a resolution of 1920-by-1080p at 30 frames per second. You also get digital zoom capabilities on the device.

For a price of AED 285, the EZVIZ C8C Outdoor Smart IP Security Camera does a brilliant job of protecting your property from intruders, while you are at home or away. The EZVIZ C8C is an easy-to-install security camera with features such as pan, tilt, digital zoom, LED strobe light, night vision, and lots more, that will allow you to monitor a wide area, with ease.
