Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) has announced the launch of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick today. The new stylish earbuds perfectly combine luxury design with cutting-edge technology, providing consumers with a pair of earphones that offer both a stunning appearance and excellent audio quality. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick will be available to purchase at the HUAWEI Shopping Festival Wearables and Audioweek where consumers can avail of great promotions. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick are available for the price of AED 899 along with a gift worth AED 299.

HUAWEI’s Audio family’s range will also be available at exclusive offers during the festival. Consumers will be able to purchase devices from the luxurious FreeBuds Lipstick to the high-quality HUAWEI Freebuds 4. For HUAWEI’s wearables category, consumers will have the chance to elevate their style with the all-new HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 or the classy WATCH 3, both coming with a free gift worth AED 299.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick is also compatible with different operating systems, including Android and iOS. Users can download the HUAWEI AI Life app to adjust settings or perform various controls such as wear detection, quick control, status query, noise cancellation and device management.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick is designed by talents from various fields, including global luxury, fashion, automotive, and digital and brand strategy industries at Huawei’s Paris Aesthetics Research Centre. HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick reinterprets the nobility and luxury with a gorgeous stainless-steel body. The design processes used for it also pay tribute to the harmony and elegance with the rounded arcs and fine line processing.

HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick’s luxury-grade stainless-steel charging case is corrosion and wear-resistant and is built using over 30 intricate processes to produce a surface as smooth as a mirror. The charging case also features a magnetic design, which has a unique “click” sound.

HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick comes in a glamourous colourway — a combination of black, gold and red. These classic colours are a tribute to the classic lipstick, with black representing mystery, gold symbolising luxury, and red expressing enthusiasm and charm.

HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick inherits Huawei’s industry-leading open-fit design based on the ergonomic simulation conducted using 10,000+ human ear models and the extensive stress simulation test on eight parts of the ear. Hence, the design helps the earphones to provide ultimate comfort while wearing.

Moreover, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick features Adaptive Ear Matching Equaliser adjustment that automatically detects the ear canal’s shape and wearing conditions and assigns the best equaliser setting for the users. Using the HUAWEI AI Life App, consumers can choose from three modes of equalisers, including balanced (default), bass boost, and treble boost, to enjoy a personalised audio experience.

HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick uses dual-microphone noise cancellation, which can effectively filter out environmental noise: it will automatically select the most suitable set of noise cancellation parameters from more than 10 different sets, providing the users with an industry-leading open-fit active noise cancellation. Huawei has tested the earbuds’ design to ensure Air-Like comfort for people with all ear types.

Thanks to EMUI 12 – Device+ features, users can freely transfer a video from their smartphone to their HUAWEI Vision, PC or tablet, and seamlessly transfer the audio to the earphones. It also uses proximity Bluetooth pairing so users can pair with a nearby smartphone, tablet, and PC with the pop-up window, and it can achieve dual device connections. In addition, users can set up the touch control settings on the HUAWEI AI Life App.

Link up a Huawei smartwatch to the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick to manage noise cancellation modes, check battery life, and control your music playback. With all-new game audio coding technology, HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick can reduce the latency to 90ms, keeping the audio in lockstep with the action onscreen.

On top of smooth connectivity, HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick can record high-fidelity sound with a sample rate of up to 48 kHz. By turning on the Surroundings Mode in the HUAWEI AI Life app, users can record the sounds around them when recording a travel vlog to capture the exciting moments with high-fidelity sound.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick comes with an upgraded battery. With noise cancellation turned off, it offers 22 hours of music playback with the fully charged charging case or 4 hours of music playback with the fully charged earphones. The powerful battery life allows users to enjoy music anytime and anywhere without worrying.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick will be available to purchase at the HUAWEI Shopping Festival where consumers can avail great offers during the Wearable and Audio week. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick are available for the price of AED 899 along with a gift worth AED 299.

HUAWEI Intros Open-Ear FreeArc Earbuds

Published

on

Huawei has launched its latest audio innovation, the HUAWEI FreeArc, further solidifying its leadership in the fast-growing open-ear wearables segment. Designed for comfort and situational awareness, the FreeArc offers a secure, pressure-free fit without blocking the ear canal—catering to users who demand high-quality audio without sacrificing awareness of their surroundings.

Open-ear earbuds, which sit outside the ear rather than inside it, have surged in popularity due to their comfort and safety benefits, particularly for fitness enthusiasts, commuters, and professionals. According to Canalys, global shipments of open-ear headphones reached nearly 8 million units in Q3 2024—a staggering fourfold increase from the same period last year.

Huawei has been at the forefront of this shift. The company ranked first in global wearable shipments for the first three quarters of 2024 (IDC), backed by its extensive audio R&D network—including seven research centers, over 1,000 audio specialists, and more than 250 patents. Its first open-ear model, the HUAWEI FreeClip, has already surpassed 2 million units shipped worldwide, demonstrating strong consumer demand for innovative wearable audio solutions.

Huawei’s journey in open-ear wearables began in 2019 with its collaboration with Gentle Monster on HUAWEI Eyewear, blending fashion with cutting-edge audio technology. The FreeClip, launched later, marked Huawei’s entry into the Open Wireless Stereo (OWS) category, featuring a flexible C-bridge design for a lightweight, breathable fit.

Now, the FreeArc takes this legacy further as Huawei’s first open-ear earbuds with earhooks. Built with a nickel-titanium alloy frame, the new model enhances stability and adaptability for a wider range of ear shapes while retaining the signature C-bridge comfort. Engineered for active lifestyles, the FreeArc boasts an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance, making it ideal for workouts, travel, and daily commutes. Key enhancements include:

  1. High-sensitivity drivers for crisp, balanced sound
  2. Dual-Resonator Antenna for stronger connectivity
  3. Wind-resistant microphones for clearer calls in outdoor environments

With the FreeArc, Huawei continues to refine its open-ear offerings, combining ergonomic design with practical durability.

Apple’s Beats Unveils Powerbeats Pro 2 with Heart-Rate Monitoring

Published

on

Apple Inc.’s Beats division has unveiled the long-awaited Powerbeats Pro 2, which features noise cancellation, a heart-rate monitor, and a revamped design aimed at athletes. This new model incorporates capabilities seen in Apple’s AirPods, such as transparency mode for better external noise awareness and the H2 chip for enhanced sound quality. Additionally, it offers improved spatial audio for a 3D listening experience and comes with a smaller, wireless charging case.

The heart-rate monitor is a notable first for Apple-designed earbuds, expanding the company’s health-related features, and utilizes technology found in the Apple Watch. Despite a slow holiday season for Apple’s wearables business—with sales in the division falling nearly 2% to about $11.8 billion—the introduction of these new earbuds is anticipated to drive interest and sales.

Priced at $250, the same as the previous model, the new Powerbeats Pro 2 will be available in black, orange, purple, and a color called quicksand. This price point matches the AirPods Pro 2, although the Powerbeats may be more appealing to athletes due to their secure ear hooks.

Apple Vice President Oliver Schusser, who oversees Beats as well as the company’s sports, TV+, and music initiatives, hailed the new Powerbeats as “the most impressive product in Beats’ history.” Acquired by Apple in 2014 for $3 billion, Beats remains the company’s largest acquisition to date.

The heart-rate monitor will be compatible with fitness apps like Peloton, Nike Run Club, Ladder, and Slopes, with data integration into the Apple Health app. The earbuds will also be compatible with Android devices. Apple is reportedly working on AirPods with heart-rate monitoring, though they are still many months away from release.

In terms of battery life, the Powerbeats Pro 2 holds an advantage over AirPods, with 10 hours of usage on their own and 45 hours with the charging case, compared to six hours for AirPods alone and up to 30 hours with the case. However, AirPods continue to offer unique features, such as a new hearing aid functionality.
