Review: HONOR MagicBook X 14

HONOR has been steadily adding new products to its portfolio and the latest to launch onto the market is the company’s MagicBook X 14. The laptop features a 1.38-kg ultralight alluminium body and measures just 15.9mm thin. When you open the laptop’s lid, you come face to face with a 14-inch FullView display that has been certified by TÜV Rheinland for a flicker-free experience. It also protects your eyes from blue light, by keeping it low.
The laptop’s display offers a resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels, a screen-to-body ratio of 84%, and a refresh rate of 60Hz. Under the hood, the MagicBook X 14 is powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 10210U processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. You also get Intel UHD Graphics. Inside the box, you get the HONOR MagicBook X 14, along with the 65W Type-C Fast Charger.
One of the standout features of the HONOR MagicBook is the HONOR Magic-Link Multi-Screen Collaboration feature, which lets you share your HONOR smartphone screen and files on the HONOR MagicBook X 14. This in turn allows you to edit them with the same keyboard and mouse. You can even pick up exactly from where you left off, without having to jump between the devices.
The HONOR MagicBook X 14 is also powered by a 56Wh high energy density battery that supports fast charging. This means, just an hour of charging will give you up to 9 hours of video playback. During our tests, on a single charge, we were able to clock around 12 hours of battery life, which is very good for such a thin and light laptop.
For cooling, the X 14 uses Shark Fin 2.0 fans that offer strong heat dissipation at very low noise. The power button on the laptop which is just above the keyboard also doubles up as the fingerprint reader, while a dedicated camera key on the keyboard’s top row of keys hides away a pop-up web camera.
In terms of the I/O ports, you get plenty of choices unlike many ultraportable laptops out there on the market. With the HONOR MagicBook X 14, you get a USB Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port, and an HDMI port on the left edge. On the right edge, you get another USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The HONOR MagicBook X 14 is also equipped with a dual-antenna Wi-Fi capability, offering 160MHz of bandwidth – this means, you can connect at theoretical speeds of up to 1733 Mbps.
Let’s talk a bit about the HONOR Magic-Link – this feature allows you to connect your HONOR smartphone wirelessly with the MagicBook X 14. By doing so, you can quickly drag and drop files and images between the MagicBook and HONOR phones. You can also get your HONOR phone notifications onto the MagicBook.
In order to connect your HONOR smartphone to the MagicBook, you can either touch your NFC-enabled HONOR smartphone on the HONOR Magic-Link icon next to the touchpad, scan a QR-Code, or search using wireless projection. Through the HONOR Magic-Link connection, you can copy text into your MagicBook laptop, copy files from the smartphone to the laptop at up to 60-% faster, edit phone files via the laptop screen, and even use the laptop’s camera for video calls on your smartphone.
In terms of performance, the HONOR MagicBook X 14 did a fantastic job, whether it was day-to-day computing, web browsing, or even tasks such as video rendering, image editing, and the occasional gaming session. Since it is very lightweight, carrying the HONOR MagicBook X14 around was not a task.
With a very good combination of software and hardware, the HONOR MagicBook X 14 brings the goodness of the Magic-Link to offer a new level of real productivity. Combine that with the thin and light construction, solid specs, and very good design, and the HONOR MagicBook X 14 comes across as a highly recommended laptop.
Price: AED 2399 with free gifts worth AED 397, which includes HONOR CHOICE Earbuds X, Backpack, and a 1 year extended warranty (total of 2 years).

ZOTAC Unveils RTX 5060 Series With NVIDIA Blackwell

ZOTAC Technology has unveiled its latest GeForce RTX 5060 Series graphics cards, powered by NVIDIA’s next-generation Blackwell architecture. The lineup includes the RTX 5060 Ti in 16GB and 8GB variants, along with the standard RTX 5060, all featuring ultra-fast GDDR7 memory, advanced cooling solutions, and compact designs for broad system compatibility.
Designed for both gamers and creators, the new GPUs leverage AI acceleration through DLSS 4, delivering smoother frame rates and enhanced ray tracing. NVIDIA’s Studio tools and NIM microservices further expand creative possibilities, enabling AI-assisted workflows and faster content creation.
ZOTAC’s focus on small-form-factor (SFF) compatibility ensures these cards fit seamlessly into tight PC cases. The AMP model stands out with a factory overclock, dual BladeLink fans, and IceStorm 2.0 cooling for peak performance. Meanwhile, the Twin Edge (OC) offers a balanced blend of power and efficiency in a 2-slot design, and the SOLO variant caters to ultra-compact builds with its single-fan configuration.
Efficiency is a key highlight, with the entire series requiring only a single 8-pin PCIe power connector, reducing the need for PSU upgrades. The IceStorm 2.0 cooling system—featuring extended heat sinks, composite heat pipes, and optimized airflow—ensures stable thermals even under heavy loads. Additional refinements include FREEZE fan stop for silent operation during low-intensity tasks and a metal backplate for added durability.
For enthusiasts who prefer manual tuning, ZOTAC’s updated FireStorm utility provides intuitive control over clock speeds, voltage, and fan curves.
