Published

on

Dynabook Europe has announced the Portégé X40-K, a new 14” device within Dynabook’s premium business range that is specifically engineered to deliver superior design quality while meeting the demands of today’s flexible workers. Elegant yet practical, the X40-K delivers a number of enhanced mobility features that demonstrate Dynabook’s commitment to delivering innovation that meets evolving end-user requirements.

“The latest addition to Dynabook’s premium X Series range of devices demonstrates our continued promise to strive for the very best in mobile computing,” said Damian Jaume, President, Dynabook Europe GmbH. “The new Portégé X40-K brings enhanced connectivity, performance, and collaboration feature together within a sleek aluminum chassis, delivering the perfect toolkit for workers no matter their location.”

Powered by the latest 12th generation Intel Core processors and running on Windows 11 Pro, the Portégé X40-K features a host of connectivity options, all of which combine to make it the perfect companion for today’s hybrid worker. Equipped with not one but two Thunderbolt 4 ports, as well as an HDMI 2.0 port, additional USB-A 3.2 ports, LAN, and a Micro SD slot, users are able to remain connected to everything needed to display, charge and transfer simultaneously. Meanwhile, a separate AC power socket provides a secondary means of charging, ensuring both Thunderbolt 4 ports can be used with complete freedom.

Faster than ever, the model also features the latest Intel AX211 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E technology alongside Bluetooth 5.2 for enhanced, interference-free connectivity while on the move. The X40-K offers up to 32GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory, configurable in two SO-DIMM slots for excellent Intel Iris Xe graphics performance. This is further boosted with SSD options up to 1TB, using the latest Gen 4 standard for faster transfer speeds.

The Portégé X40-K’s easily accessible and all-new AI audio and HD with FA (face authentication) camera features equip workers with the ideal tools for remote collaboration. The AI Realtek audio solution provides noise reduction that mutes specific background noises, while the user remains perfectly audible. Complimenting this, the AI camera assists in lighting correction and face-framing to deliver a seamless video experience. Workers can keep their surroundings private with a range of platform-independent, smart background concealment options. As this is at the camera level, privacy is maintained even when a non-standard video-conferencing application needs to be used.

The Portégé X40-K has been carefully engineered to boast excellent design features without compromising on performance. The aluminium chassis strikes the perfect balance between quality and affordability, with a honed Dark Tech Blue finish providing an enhanced look and feel. The embossed matt silver Dynabook logo adds a touch of luxury – delivering a premium finish alongside a diamond-cut frame on both the lid and touchpad.

The sophisticated look and feel of the X40-K are partnered with a practical and durable build. Its narrow 3-sided bezel maximises screen capacity without compromising on size or portability. Ultra-slim and easy to hold at only 17.9mm thick and 1.46kg* in weight, the device is fully prepared for working on the go. With its lowered frameless keyboard, the anti-glare screen is protected from keyboard dirt while the lid is closed. An expertly engineered cooling system utilises exceptionally quiet twin fans plus a rubber foot on the exterior to separate warm and cool air.

An innovative anodising process provides a crisp metallic finish which also protects against everyday scrapes and scratches, while the spill-resistant keyboard adds further protection to a device that is designed to meet the wear and tear challenges of hybrid working. Collaboration is further supported by the X40-K’s 180-degree opening angle, so users can share information with co-workers easily and efficiently. The device is a testament to Dynabook’s long-standing commitment to quality and reliability, with rigorous MIL STD 810H testing proving its robustness.

Built with security as a priority, the Portégé X40-K delivers effortlessly on Microsoft’s Secured-core device requirements. Dynabook’s in-house BIOS, paired with face and fingerprint authentication and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0, combine to deliver strong protection against the rising threat of attackers. Accompanied by a webcam shutter, security lock slot and optional smart card reader, the Portégé X40-K provides the user with both privacy and protection. The Portege X40-K will be available from May 2022.

Apple Detects Spyware Targeting iPhones in Multiple Countries

Published

on

Apple has issued a second spyware attack warning to iPhone users in 98 countries, raising concerns about the growing threat to mobile security. This follows a similar alert in April targeting users in 92 countries.

While specific details about the latest attacks remain under wraps, the alert serves as a stark reminder of the evolving threat landscape. India is one confirmed country where users received the notification.

Spyware, a particularly invasive type of malware, can grant attackers complete access to an iPhone, including encrypted messages, audio, and video. The notorious Pegasus spyware from NSO Group is a well-known example.

“Apple detected that you are being targeted by a mercenary spyware attack that is trying to remotely compromise the iPhone associated with your Apple ID -xxx-,” Apple wrote in its new spyware alert.

Adding to the concern, researchers recently revealed the return of LightSpy, a “particularly dangerous” campaign capable of pinpointing a target’s location with “near-perfect accuracy.”

The worrying aspect of these attacks is their ability to exploit “zero-click” vulnerabilities, meaning infection can occur without any user interaction, such as opening a malicious link or attachment.

This highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and following Apple’s security recommendations, which may include updating your device to the latest iOS version.
