Nubia has released the international version of the REDMAGIC 7 PRO. The REDMAGIC 7 PRO is equipped with Red Core 1, a dedicated gaming chip, the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, a powerful 960 Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate: nubia’s signature ICE 9.0 multi-dimensional cooling system with a built-in turbofan, and a large 5000 mAh dual-cell battery. The global version of the REDMAGIC 7 PRO is available to purchase from April 27, 2022, with an early bird offer from April 22, 2022.

The ProVision Gaming device is available in two models: Supernova with 16GB RAM + 512GB memory, symbolizing the radiant star in the dark, exciting players when the RGB lights are on; and Obsidian with 16GB + 256GB memory, inspired by a volcanic glass formed from quickly cooling lava from a volcano that gives a fantastic, magical gloss-like look.

Obsidian includes cool lighting effects featuring the REDMAGIC logo light at the back and RGB breathing lights. The Supernova edition comes with a REDMAGIC logo light and RGB lights within the famed built-in turbofan that can be seen through the transparent back. Both models have 6GB of expandable virtual RAM. As for connectivity and audio quality, the REDMACIC 7 PRO offers Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax 2*2 mimo, a USB type C port, a repositioned 3.5mm audio interface for a more comfortable handheld gaming experience, NFC, and a 7th gen fingerprint sensor with a heart rate detection function.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is manufactured using a 4nm process and integrates the Snapdragon X655G modem. It supports download speeds of up to 10GB through a 5G cellular network and supports up to 3.6GB Wi-Fi speeds through WIFI6 and 6E routers. Dramatically improved with a 20% increase in CPU and a 30% increase in energy efficiency, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 enables the REDMAGIC 7 PRO to perform faster in artificial intelligence-related tasks, becoming four times faster and 1.7 times more energy efficient. As well, its new AdrenoGPU graphics rendering speed is increased by 30%, and the energy efficiency is increased by 25%.

Introduced as the true full-screen experience with an under-display camera (UDC) in a powerful gaming smartphone with an ultra-clear gaming screen on a bright 6.8 inch (17.27cm, 11.6cm) AMOLED display with a Full HD + 1080*2400 screen. No holes. No obstructions. Just a full high-definition display. REDMAGIC 7 PRO’s UDC is set to be the near-perfect screen for entertainment and gaming in 2022. Its design has five full-screen technologies. Firstly, the “Multi-Drive ACE” is an innovative circuit designed to increase light transmissivity of the area above the UDC. As a result, it smooths the transition of the UDC area and other areas of the screen. Next, there are the “Seven Layers of Highly Transparent Materials”, formed by special OLED and high-tech materials making the UDC areas more translucent.

Then, there is the REDMAGIC 7 PRO’s “Wave Electrode”. It is the industry’s first wave-type electrode trace program. The new wave electrode can reduce the diffraction generated by the light through complex graphics. As a result, it effectively enhances image clarity. Further is the “UDC PRO Screen Display Chip”. The chip is composed of an intelligent pixel enhancement and optimization for more precise imaging. As a result, the display effect is more accurate, synchronized, and consistency is better. Lastly is the “Ding Type Pixel Arrangement”, a specialized pixel arrangement that improves the display clarity over the UDC. While at the same time allowing more light through the display into the under-display camera for better selfies.

The display of the REDMAGIC 7 PRO supports up to 120 Hz refresh rate and multiple automatic adjustments for a player’s more comprehensive visual experience.  It challenges the limits of performance and Pro Vision Gaming even more with a 960 Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. The REDMAGIC 7 PRO display delivers a DCI-P3 100% wide color gamut with a maximum brightness of 600 nits. Also, its new image enhancement system, 2.0 Magic GPU, provides a 60% increase in frame rate stabilization.

The 2.0 Magic GPU image enhancement system produces ultra-clear images using Touch Choreography (TC) technology developed by nubia. The TC keeps a more stable gaming experience, compensating for in-game rates. In addition, it establishes and optimizes the cache area without increasing power consumption and synchronizes the buffer area and screen display to process the images more smoothly.

The new and independent chip Red Core 1 by nubia is designed to operate mobile gaming functions that aren’t directly related to graphics or higher frame rates. The Red Core 1 takes over some of the work from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC to enable the gaming smartphone to perform more efficiently. The Red Core 1 can process audio, RGB lighting, and haptic feedback. Thus, enabling the Snapdragon flagship SoC to focus more resources on mobile games, applications, and other operations.

With an upgraded 5000mAh double-cell large battery incorporating Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5 Technology, the REDMAGIC 7 PRO’s large battery is lightweight, small, and safe for fast charging. For charging, the new Pro Vision Gaming device includes a 65W quick air-cooled charging port with a 65W GaN charger. It is also designed with multiple security protections and is an all-in-one charging device, compatible with multiple devices for users’ convenience.

Both international editions for the REDMAGIC 7 series include the REDMAGIC OS 5.0. The custom-built OS uses the latest Android 12 version with its new features for the Game Space. There are five main new features. The “Quick Picture Library ” let’s players view images they save and view them in-game, such as game maps. The “Quick Notes” allow gamers to record game notes and ideas. Both can be saved in the REDMAGIC view board, storing them on the screen at the side while gaming. The view board has a storage capacity of up to 50 images and notes for players to edit and delete at their convenience.

The “Game-reminder” enables setting game-specific alarms for players to avoid missing time-sensitive events. The “Fast Stopwatch” keeps track of in-game timings to avoid missing a buff. Also, it helps users catch the other team off-balance when their skills are on cooldown. Finally, the “Barrage Message” allows every notification to be read across the screen for users’ convenience without interrupting their game.

Adding to the OS, Magic Write enables ultra-fast reading and writing technology, increasing the speed of application installation faster than competitors equipped with SSD by 30%. With in-depth software and hardware optimizations, the new operating system has an intelligent CPU, GPU, and memory scheduling to respond faster when performance is required, shortening load times such as booting, application startup, game loading, and touch screen response. Also, the rendering system can trigger related resources for scenes with different refresh rates to ensure a stable frame rate at high-refresh speeds and intelligently save power at low-refresh speeds.

Incorporating cooling technologies for superior heat dissipation, the new REDMAGIC 7 PRO combines heat dissipation with high-speed, rapid thermal conductivity and active cooling. The cooling system includes nine layers of heat dissipation materials: composite graphene, vapor chamber heat dissipation plate, air aluminum box, high-speed turbofan, soft high-conducting rare earth elements, high-conducting gel, copper foil, heat dissipation plate, and a cooling air duct.

Designed with the second-largest vapor chamber (VC) cooling plate in the industry at 4124mm², the VC liquid cooling plate is increased by 300% enabling a comprehensive upgrade of the overall heat dissipation process for the ICE 9.0, nubia’s signature cooling system for better performance.

Pro Vision Gaming’s new 9.0 cooling system uses the active heat dissipation unit, which is organically combined with passive heat dissipation methods, forming a multi-dimensional heat dissipation system. Then, add the 4124mm² VC heat dissipation plate and the new aviation grade aluminum heat dissipation plate on the back of the phone; the thermal conductivity is increased 100% by 400W/m·K. In addition, a thermally conductive back system and an adjusted air angle ensure more airflow with uniquely designed canyon airways.

On top of everything, nubia’s built-in high-speed turbofan increases air volume up to 33.3%, reaching 89300mm³/s. Its 20,000 RPM is compared to F1 racing engine levels with a 9.2% space optimization and 41% noise drop. The super quiet turbofan is designed with 0.1mm ultra-thin fan blades, an Iso-alloy frame structure, a metal cover, and four energy-efficient coils. The Supernova edition has fan blades with four RGB color lights that users can easily appreciate.

The dual shoulder triggers have a 500 Hz touch sampling rate giving them a low touch response of 8ms. For Pro gamers who enjoy playing games like Genshin Impact, League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Fortnite. Tested to withstand more than two million finger presses, the anti-sweat shoulder triggers, are also ergonomically designed to ensure quality and durability.

The REDMAGIC 7 PRO also has a symmetric double X-axis motor for enhanced performance for a stronger vibration and more accurate touch feedback and gaming experience. After releasing two mid-range phones earlier this year, Nothing is now gearing up to launch a flagship model. The company’s CEO, Carl Pei, has already confirmed that the Nothing Phone 3 will launch in Q3 this year, costing around $1,000. However, Nothing has remained tight-lipped about other details. That changes today, as we finally have some information about the highly anticipated device.

According to a new leak, the Nothing Phone 3 is codenamed “Metroid” and has the model number A024. These details have previously been spotted in certification listings of an upcoming Nothing device in the GSM database and the Bureau of Indian Standards. Additionally, the leak (via Smartprix) suggests that the device could feature a flagship Snapdragon chipset, likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite, given Nothing’s ongoing partnership with Qualcomm.

Sources familiar with Nothing’s plans have reportedly said that the Nothing Phone 3 will sport a flagship-grade triple camera system, consisting of a large primary sensor and a better periscope zoom lens than the one on the Phone 3a Pro. The flagship device is also rumoured to pack a substantial battery, possibly larger than the 5,000mAh battery offered on other Nothing and CMF phones.

Based on the launch timeline Carl Pei shared last month, the Nothing Phone 3 is expected to hit the shelves sometime this July. However, even though the phone will likely hit the shelves after the stable Android 16 release, it’s expected to run Nothing OS 3.2 based on Android 15 at launch.

Reports suggest Nothing could offer the device at a cheaper price in the Indian market. Although Carl Pei has already confirmed that the Phone 3 will cost around $1,000, the device may be priced under $650 in India. The lower price could make the phone an instant hit in the region, especially since it’s expected to offer top-tier hardware.

Dual Driver Audio and Noise-free Clear Calls, HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 are Mid-range Earbuds with Premium Chops

Published

on

Huawei is making a bold new statement with the FreeBuds 6. These open-fit earbuds promise a rich tapestry of notes and immersive bass with an open-fit design, all made possible thanks to an innovative dual-driver system. But what strikes the notes is not just the sound itself. The striking new design and the incredibly impressive call clarity launches these new earbuds to the top spot in the market.

Being the first open-fit earbuds to incorporate a dual-driver unit is no small accomplishment. Huawei has evidently grappled with the conundrum of fitting a sophisticated dual-driver architecture into a compact, lightweight form factor. The payoff is a remarkable, earbuds that are notably smaller than many conventional in-ear earbuds but sound unreal.

Their approach has been meticulous. It stacks high and low frequency dual-magnetic high-sensitivity driver units in a small space. The acoustic system is designed to work independently for a pure, distortion-free sound quality. Bolstering the low-end frequencies is a dedicated booming bass system powered by an 11mm dual-magnetic driver unit augmented by the new Bass Turbo 2.0 technology. The UHF planar diaphragm driver has a wider high-frequency range and can reach 48 kHz. Each unit operates in tandem, each focusing on its optimal frequency band to deliver a cohesive and high-definition acoustic experience.

Beyond music, Huawei has placed a strong emphasis on call quality, especially in challenging environments. The FreeBuds 6 introduce a Voice Pick-up Unit bone conduction microphone. This works to deliver highly accurate voice recognition, isolating your speech even amidst a cacophony. This allows for crystal-clear audio calling even with wind speeds up to 8m/s. So, whether you’re on a blustery commute, cycling through the city, or navigating a bustling airport terminal, both you and the person on the other end will be able to have clear communication without unwelcome interruptions. Adding a touch of convenient innovation, the FreeBuds 6 also support head movement interaction, allowing users to answer or reject calls by simply nodding or shaking their head.

One of the inherent trade-offs with open-fit earbuds is often a lack of noise isolation compared to their sealed in-ear counterparts. However, the FreeBuds 6 are capable of reducing external noise interference in everyday settings like offices, cafes, parks, and squares. This allows users to immerse themselves in music or focus fully on their calls, while balancing between situational awareness and focused listening.

The design of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 is both fashionable and functional, featuring a curved water droplet shape. This smooth, streamlined design is engineered for an ergonomic fit across a wide range of ear shapes. The stem’s thickness gradient ensures both smoothness and comfort, while the handle maintains the graceful droplet shape, making them unique and recognisable. Compared to previous editions, each FreeBuds 6 earbud stem is reportedly 9% lighter and 12% smaller, making them feel feather-light on the ears and suitable for all-day use.

Battery life is a crucial factor for any wireless earbuds. The HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 boast a superb all-day power capacity, offering up to a whopping 36 hours of music playback with the charging case. For those in a hurry, a quick 5-minute charge is said to provide 2.5 hours of music playback, easily enough to cover an intercity commute.

The FreeBuds 6 present a compelling package, particularly for those who prioritise comfort and call quality without wanting to be completely sealed off from their surroundings. The FreeBuds 6 provide a good middle ground for users who want to stay aware of their environment while still enjoying audio immersion.
