Review: Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G

Published

on

When it comes to quality affordable phones, Xiaomi is one of the brands that come to mind. Its Redmi series of smartphones have long been known for quality and affordability, without any compromise on performance for years. And the new Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is no different.

Even though the Note 11 Pro+ 5G comes in at a price of point of AED 1399, Xiaomi has used good quality materials to construct the device.

On the front, you get a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED DotDisplay that offers a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display also offers DCI-P3 Color Gamut, 1200 nits of brightness, and a contrast ratio of 4,500,000:1. You also get a 360Hz of touch sampling rate.

On the right edge of the device, you will find the power button, which also doubles up as the fingerprint scanner, and the volume rockers.

On the top edge, you get the 3.5mm audio jack, an IR blaster, and the speakers powered by JBL. On the bottom edge, you get the USB Type-C port, the dual SIM slot which also takes in a microSD card to extend the storage space of the device, and the stereo speaker grille.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G supports Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Hi-Res Wireless Audio. Just above the display, you get a 16MP front camera.

At the back of the device, you get a triple camera setup that includes a 108MP primary, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens. The primary lens offers an aperture of f/1.9, while the ultra-wide camera offers an aperture of f/2.2. The macro lens, meanwhile, offers an aperture of f/2.4.

The Note 11 Pro+ 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimesnity 920 processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. Inside the box, you get the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, along with the 120W charger, USB-C to USB-C charging cable, and a transparent case that feels sturdy and durable. There is also a screen protector that comes preinstalled on the device’s screen.

The phone runs on the Android 11 operating system with Xiaomi’s MIUI 12.5.2 running on top of it. Using Xiaomi’s MIUI felt very natural. It is very user-friendly and intuitive and sometimes it gives you a stock Android feel. The overall performance of the device is very good.

The cameras also performed quite well – the star of the show here is the 108MP main camera that produces crisp and clear images every time, without fail.

The 8MP ultra-wide camera also does a really good job of delivering images with a good dynamic range and high detail. The macro camera was sometimes a hit or a miss. This is because, it relies on lots of factors including the lighting conditions, how close you are to the subject, and the shooting angle.

The quality of the videos shot using the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G was quite good. You can shoot 1080p videos at a frame rate of 60fps and 4K videos at a frame rate of 30fps. However, since the phone lacks video stabilisation features, you sometimes end up with some shaky video footage. The recording quality of the audio though was very good.

In terms of the battery, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G comes packed with a 4500mAh battery. And this battery supports 120W fast charging – so technically, it means that you can go from 0% to 100% in about 20 minutes, which is quite useful. The battery also lasted for a little more than a day of normal usage, which is brilliant.

For a price of AED 1399, you get a well-rounded phone that offers very good specs, excellent cameras, good battery life, and brilliant design and build quality. The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G thus comes across as highly recommended.

Price: AED 1399
