Here’s How to Setup Your Live Stream and Content Creation Equipment

Published

on

Live streaming online and content creation is a great way to spread your message, increase brand awareness, and cultivate relationships with your fans and followers. For these reasons, an overwhelming amount of people learn how to live stream videos on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, to create interesting content every day.

Whether you’re a content creator, business, artist, or an influencer looking to broadcast your life, activities, or live events, this article will help you create an ideal streaming and content creation setup. We have chosen a range of equipment from Elgato, which are tried and tested, including a web camera, lighting, microphone, headphone, keyboard, mouse, gaming chair, and streaming deck.

Web Camera: Elgato Facecam

Elgato’s Facecam features a studio-quality f/2.4 24-mm, all-glass Elgato Prime Lens. It also uses a Sony Starvis CMOS sensor that features a fixed focus prime lens, an f/2.4 aperture with 24mm full-frame equivalent focal length, and offers a field of view of 82 degrees. The web camera can shoot at 60fps, offers noise reduction capabilities, and can be used in all sorts of lighting conditions.

The web camera can also be either fixed onto a standard tripod using the quarter-inch thread or attach it to your monitor using the low-profile mount, that comes packed in the box. The web camera powers itself up, using a detachable USB-C to USB Type-A cable, that also comes bundled with the Facecam. If you would like to tinker around with the Facecam’s settings, we recommend installing Elgato’s very own Camera Hub app. This app gives you DSLR-like control of settings such as field of view, brightness, and exposure.

Microphone: Elgato Wave 3

The new Wave 3 is a USB microphone and software mixer from Elgato and it is a perfect solution for those into streaming, recording, and podcasting. One of the stand-out features of the Elgato Wave 3 is its Clipguard technology. This technology keeps clipping at bay – this is useful especially during live streams when you get a bit excited and your voice goes above normal listening levels.

When input levels peak, Elgato’s Clipguard technology instantly reroutes sound through a second signal path that runs at a lower volume. The result is clean audio output, no matter how loud you scream.

The Wave 3 also supports Elagto’s Wave Link, a software that is built specifically for controlling audio in your Twitch streams, YouTube videos, and podcasts. With the Wave Link, you can have up to nine channels that could include the game audio, voice chat, music, alerts, samples, multiple mics (not supported at this time, but will be available soon), and more. These nine independent input channels can then be blended into a unified audio source in real time.

Lighting: Elgato Key Light Mini

The Key Light Mini uses LEDs from Osram and can be powered through its built-in battery or through the electrical plug point. The Key Light Mini offers a colour temperature ranging between 2900 to 7000 K, an 800 Lumen output, and a built-in 4000 mAh battery that lasts for about 4 hours at half brightness.

You also get an option to plug the Key Light Mini into the electrical socket in case you would like to power it through the electrical mains. What’s more, the device also supports a 60-minute fast charge through its 15W USB-C charging port.

The diffused light can be controlled using the onboard buttons when the WiFi-based computer and mobile apps aren’t an option. A quarter-inch thread on the device, allows you to mount the Elgato Key Light Mini light onto a camera, a rig, or a tripod. In addition, the backplate of the Key Light Mini is magnetic, which means you can stick it to a metal surface without having to use a tripod or a rig.

The Elgato Key Light Mini also works with the company’s Stream Deck app, which allows you to adjust the brightness, set the brightness to a specific level, adjust the colour temperature, and turn on and off the Key Light Mini.

Footage Capturing: Elgato HD60 X External Game Capture Card

Elgato’s new HD60 X is an external game capture card that has been optimised for gaming consoles such as PS5 and Xbox 360. The HD60 X connects to your gaming console and sends raw data to both your gaming screen and streaming PC.

The HD60 X can pass through content at up to 4K60 HDR10 and capture footage at high frame rates of either 1440p 60 SDR, 1080p 60 HDR, or 4K30 HDR. The HD60 X is also Elgato’s first game capture card that features a Variable Refresh Rate passthrough, thus making it a perfect solution for console gaming streaming or recording. VRR Gameplay makes sure your gaming session is without lag or screen tearing.

In terms of the design, Elgato has fully refreshed it in such a way that it goes perfectly well with your overall streaming or recording setup. At the rear of the device, you will find an HDMI-in port, an HDMI-out port, and a USB Type-C port. On the front, you get a 3.5mm audio port.

Elgato HD6 0X allows you to stream from any system – PC, Mac, gaming consoles, and more. You can also stream through any app – choose from OBS, XSplit, Streamlabs, Streamyard, Twitch Studio, Restream, Zoom, or even Microsoft Teams.

Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB Pro Mini Wireless Gaming Keyboard

This keyboard is built on the Corsair K70 RGB Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, except that it is now 60% smaller. Corsair has intelligently taken away the keypad, macro keys, and a bunch of other keys to fit this technology marvel into a small and compact package, all the while retaining the awesomeness that the K70 is known for.

The keyboard offers hot-swappable key switches, wireless connectivity through Bluetooth and Corsair’s 2.4GHz Slipstream technology, and wireless support for today’s gaming consoles such as the Xbox Series X and PS5. In addition, the keyboard can connect to three different devices at the same time.

The chassis of the keyboard is made of anodised aluminium with a black matte finish. The key switches are the mechanical CHERRY MX RGB kind, with the total number of keys tallying at 61. While there are no dedicated macro keys, you can record and save the macros using the FN+ key combination. Since this is an RGB keyboard, it is fascinating to know that each of the keys is programmable with 28-LED 360-degree LightEdge.

Mouse: Corsair Sabre RGB Pro Wireless Mouse

The new Sabre RGB Pro Wireless is very lightweight and packs in an ergonomic design, that offers a competitive advantage to gamers. The mouse itself offers wired and wireless connectivity to laptops and PCS. In terms of wireless, you get two options – either through Bluetooth or through Slipstream Wireless.

The advantage of using Slipstream Wireless is that the technology transmits inputs at sub-1ms speeds, delivering mouse movements and clicks up to two times faster than a conventional gaming mouse, while also ensuring exceptional wireless signal quality throughout your gameplay.

You also get up to 90 hours of battery life that lets you play wire-free for days between charges. In terms of design, the Sabre RGB Pro Wireless features a similar design seen on the wired version. The Wireless variant though has a bit of heft to it when compared with the wired variant. The mouse weighs just 79 gms – so rapid movements and lightning-quick reflexes are not a problem. The mouse also comes packed with professional-grade gaming mouse elements, such as the first-ever Corsair Marksman optical sensor. The mouse also comes with the highest dpi in any Corsair mouse to date at 26,000 dpi. This makes sure you get very precise movement.

Headphone: Corsair HS55 Stereo Wired Gaming Headset

The HS55 Stereo Wired Gaming Headset is one of the lightest gaming headsets we have used recently and is very comfortable to wear for an extended period. The headset offers very good audio quality and an omnidirectional microphone that offers excellent voice clarity during gaming sessions and online calls.

The microphone also offers a flip-to-mute function and is Discord Certified for crystal-clear communication and brilliant sound. In addition, you also get an on-ear volume roller, that can be used to adjust the volume level.

Corsair is long known for quality products and the new HS55 Stereo is no different either. The HS55 Stereo offers solid build quality and is available in two colours – black and white. The one we received for this review was the white colour variant. The headset weighs just 273 gms and is made using durable materials, including memory foam ear pads to offer an ultimate comfort level for stress-free gaming.

Gaming Chair: Corsair TC200 Gaming Chair

Corsair’s new TC200 Fabric Gaming Chair and the TC200 Leatherette Gaming Chair are a pair of bold new additions to the growing Corsair gaming furniture lineup. Each chair’s racing-inspired design features a wide seat surface and extended height range, ideal for comfortably sitting taller, wider, or more relaxed while gaming. With your choice of black or white color options, a TC200 offers the best seat in the house.

The TC200 Fabric and TC200 Leatherette deliver long-lasting support and comfort when playing, working, or relaxing. The TC200 Fabric is covered in a comfortable cloth exterior for a soft and more breathable surface, while the TC200 Leatherette boasts a luxurious all-leatherette exterior for a clean, stylish aesthetic.

Both chairs sport perforated sections that ensure minimal heat retention so you can stay cool even as the competition heats up. Built-in foam lumbar support and a plush detachable memory foam neck pillow support a healthy posture, so you can enjoy hours of gameplay strain-free.

Streaming Deck: Elgato Stream Deck MK.2

From broadcasting and editing to designing, developing, networking — everything — you need one interface to control your myriad apps and tools. And Elgato’s Stream Deck MK2 provides all of that. The Stream Deck MK.2 features 15 keys like its predecessor, but their build and design are different.

This newer model is smaller, sleeker, and sturdier. Because of its size, it weighs lighter than the original model. The buttons are raised and separated by black bars, making it easier to determine where each of these is. The buttons are also tactile when pressed – something that a lot of people would definitely like.

The 15 LCD keys are designed to trigger unlimited actions. These one-touch tactile keys let you launch social media posts, control apps, mute your mic, adjust audio, and more. The visual feedback confirms each of your commands.

The Stream Deck M. 2’s faceplate is removable, allowing you to switch it with another one. Modifying the Stream Deck M.2 is easy, plus you can choose from a wide variety of cool designs. You can also paint on the faceplate and add decals to fully customise it.

You can connect all of your Elgato gear such as the Facecam, Wave 3, Key Light Mini, and so on to help you improve your workflow. With the MK.2’s Hotkey Actions, you can integrate macros into the keys for quick identification and deployment. There’s no need for keyboard shortcuts to launch websites & apps, open folders, and access pre-composed texts.

Thus, you can streamline your film editing, photography, or music production workflow. The Elgato Stream Deck MK.2 gives you endless options.
