UPWAKE and The 4 Winds Entertainment Launch new PvPvE Game HAWKED

Published

on

The 4 Winds Entertainment (T4W) has announced a new strategic publishing partnership with publisher and developer UPWAKE.ME to launch a brand new PvPvE extraction shooter named HAWKED, in the MENA territory and Turkey. Sign-up to the Closed Alpha Test on PC via Steam will start on November 22nd. Players will have a chance to take a first look at the Hunt mode, playable either solo or in squads of three starting November 24th. The new title will be available on other platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One in the future.

“As T4W, we really thrive in the less-explored, fastest-growing parts of the gaming world with our passion and expertise,” says Steven Huot, CEO of The 4 Winds Entertainment and continues, “As we bring our experience and a deep understanding of local cultures and communities to bear on all our decisions, we are now proud to announce yet another game with our partners at UPWAKE.ME. HAWKED will be a great continuation of our goal to allow local Arabic and Turkish players to experience the game to the same extent as any global players with the inclusion of culturally relevant content ranging from in-game representation to localized text and voiceovers.”

HAWKED is an online shooter in which teams race to collect and extract treasure from a remote island. Players must explore a mysterious island, compete with rival Renegades, and battle greedy saurian Disciples in an all-out heist for treasures and mystical artifacts. But it’s not just the monsters they’ll have to worry about, other players are gunning for their treasure too. Players will also have to contend with puzzles and traps, hazardous environments, and a variety of other challenges along the way.

HAWKED’s Closed Alpha Test will be playable from November 24 until November 28 on Steam. Alpha players will be testing the Hunt Mode of the game, more information about Closed Alpha participation can be found on the official website as well as the steam page. The feedback gathered during the Alpha Test will be important in further shaping the game. In a world that has no more heroes left to lead humanity, Renegades must take up the fight — and they have many different tricks up their sleeves. With a large collection of weapons and gadgets, players can battle vicious monsters, outwit enemies, and gun down other players roaming the island.

For the closed Alpha, the core game mode will be Hunt in which players will be scouring the island for Artifacts. However, the Artifacts are not just for scoring points, they are usable items providing in-game benefits that once a player extracts them they to keep for future games. During the game, there are multiple ways of getting Artifacts. They can be looted from defeated players but a great source of them is by activating a Glyph encounter which once a player secures four glyphs they can open the Vault which contains multiple Artifacts. While the player with the most Artifacts will be the grand winner, extracting even one Artifact is already a huge achievement for any player.

Filled with a stolen treasure, the vibrant interdimensional island of X-Isle is as beautiful as it is mysterious and deadly. Here, players will have to run, jump, surf, zipline, and fly through an ever-evolving world filled with deadly hazards, lush jungles, and ancient ruins. Players need to solve puzzles and dodge traps to steal treasure, extract them, and escape the island. Reclaimed riches can be used to upgrade gear and abilities, and players can extensively tweak their Renegade with customizable load-outs and abilities. Wield new weapons and equipment like katanas and grappling hooks to specialize in stealth, defense, or lightning-fast looting.

Google’s Latest AI Model Enables Watermark Removal from Images

Published

on

A potentially controversial application of Google’s new Gemini 2.0 Flash AI model has emerged: users are leveraging it to remove watermarks from images, including those from stock photo sites such as Getty Images.

The recently expanded image generation feature of Gemini 2.0 Flash allows for native image generation and editing, a powerful tool that seemingly lacks robust usage restrictions. Social media users have highlighted how the AI can not only remove watermarks but also intelligently fill in the resulting gaps, often with impressive accuracy, and it’s currently free within Google’s AI Studio developer tools.

While labeled “experimental” and “not for production use,” Gemini 2.0 Flash’s ability to bypass watermarks stands in contrast to models like Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, which explicitly prohibit such actions, citing ethical and legal concerns.

It’s important to note that Gemini 2.0 Flash isn’t foolproof; it can struggle with semi-transparent or heavily overlaid watermarks. Nevertheless, the ease with which it can remove watermarks raises potential copyright issues, as removing a watermark without the copyright holder’s permission is generally illegal in many countries. This situation underscores the ongoing challenges of balancing powerful AI capabilities with copyright protection.
