Samsung Intros 20-Year Warranty on Digital Inverter Compressors and Motors in Home Appliances

Published

on

Samsung Gulf Electronics has announced a 20-year warranty on Digital Inverter Technology (DIT) compressors and motors in refrigerators, washing machines, and dryers. Samsung is offering an extended warranty, which doubles the 10-year guarantee previously offered on DIT products.

“Digital Inverter Compressors available on Samsung refrigerators intelligently vary their power and running speed to match the immediate cooling requirement of the compressor, delivering up to 40 percent more energy efficiency than conventional technology. In washing machines and dryers, Digital Inverter Motors eliminate the use of brushes that wear out, offering long-lasting performance and quiet operation for Samsung,” the company said in a statement.

Burcin Arabul, Director of the Home Appliances Division for Samsung Gulf Electronics, said, “Durability and sustainability are the hallmarks of the Samsung brand. Now we are backing this promise by offering our customers peace of mind with the longest warranty in the industry for most of our Digital Inverter technology-based parts of the appliances. The warranty demonstrates that we stand behind our mission to offer high-quality, durable appliances that improve users’ lives.”

“Digital Inverter Technology is an essential core component of the appliances they power. Backed by more than 25 years of R&D, Samsung DIT innovations impact everything from energy efficiency to performance and the durability of major appliances such as refrigerators, and washing machines. As such, protecting the integrity of this core component with a 20-year warranty extends the use period of appliances, offers peace of mind for users through reliability, and reduces environmental waste. Honouring the warranty means that, while the appliance is in production or even after that, the parts required to maintain and service DITs will be made available for 20 years. Users can rest assured knowing Samsung servicing using Samsung-made products will be there when they need them,” the company said.

“Both Digital Inverter Technologies in refrigerators and washers have been certified by the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), an independent, third-party testing institute renowned for their high standards. After more than 4,000 cycles of testing, Samsung’s washer with DIT received the VDE mark indicating safety and quality,” the company concluded.

LG Launches ThinQ UP Appliances

Published

on

LG Electronics (LG) has announced the global launch of its LG ThinQ UP upgradeable home appliances including refrigerators, washers, dryers, oven ranges, and dishwashers. “Able to adapt to the unique needs and changing lifestyles of each customer, LG’s appliances enable users to enjoy new features and functions without having to make any additional purchases. Launched in South Korea in January 2022, LG ThinQ UP will begin rolling out internationally starting from March 2023, in the U.S., with availability in other key markets to follow,” the company said in a statement.

“LG ThinQ UP appliances can incorporate new features throughout their life – providing more value to users, over time. LG will continuously develop easy-to-install software updates and hardware add-ons, delivering specialized options and new conveniences based on the usage patterns and suggestions of ThinQ UP appliance owners,” the company claimed.

One of the custom features available to download in 2023, Laundry Saver Mode can be applied to dryer models with ThinQ UP. Extremely useful for those times when you can’t unload the dryer right away, Laundry Saver keeps the drum tumbling after the cycle has finished (and until the dryer door is opened) to help prevent wrinkles and odors. Another feature on offer is Improved Nighttime Brightness Control for refrigerators with ThinQ UP, which makes the fridges’ interior lighting softer at nighttime so as not to ‘blind’ users when they open the door. All new software features are optional and can be easily downloaded from the LG ThinQ app.1

“A new paradigm in the home appliance industry, LG ThinQ UP is an innovative, new solution that delivers unprecedented customer value and differentiated user experiences,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We will continue to offer sophisticated lifestyle solutions that provide personalized performance, convenient features, and customizable upgradability.”

LG to Show Off Appliances with Minimalist-Design at CES 2023

Published

on

LG Electronics (LG) is set to introduce a new line of minimalist-design appliances, including a washer and dryer, at CES 2023. Taking a ‘back to basics’ approach, the new range focuses on the essence of each appliance, removing all unnecessary design elements to deliver a timeless, minimalist aesthetic. The distinctive, durable products also reflect LG’s strong commitment to sustainability, featuring recycled materials inside and out, and requiring fewer parts and less energy to make than conventional appliances.

Refreshingly unadorned, LG’s minimalist appliances match any kind of décor, color scheme, or interior trend. The lineup’s achromatic color palette and lack of decorative embellishment offer a modern yet classic look that allows the products to blend in seamlessly with their surroundings. In addition to a clean, simple design language, LG’s appliances boast an elegantly clear control experience that users will find effortlessly easy to get to grips with.

Aligned with LG’s goal to continuously reduce environmental impact across all areas of operations, the stylish, new products have been designed with sustainability in mind. By lowering the number of components and printed elements used, LG’s minimalist-design appliances take less time, use fewer resources, and require less energy to manufacture. Each model in the new range also features internal and external parts – and ships in packaging – made from recyclable materials.

The new range, which includes a refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, oven range, and dishwasher, is also a part of LG’s innovative upgradable appliance lineup, meaning users can add new features to the products via the Upgrade Center in the LG ThinQ app.

“Sustainable, stylish and simple to use, our minimalist-design appliances deliver new customer value,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We will continue to provide advanced, thoughtfully-designed solutions incorporating our innovative technologies and reflecting our commitment to environmental responsibility.”
