HONOR to Launch the Highly Anticipated HONOR Magic Series on May 25th
HONOR has announced the upcoming launch of its highly anticipated HONOR Magic Series, featuring dual Flagship smartphones – the HONOR Magic5 Pro and the HONOR Magic Vs on May 25, 2023. These two revolutionary devices are expected to establish new benchmarks in the smartphone industry, boasting breakthrough technologies and cutting-edge innovations.
The HONOR Magic5 Pro is a prime example of a smartphone that enables professional-level photography, thanks to its exceptional camera capabilities, while the HONOR Magic Vs is HONOR’s first foldable smartphone to be launched outside China, boasting advanced hinge technology and a seamless design.
At the recent MWC 2023, the theme “Unleash the Power of Magic” accompanied the announcement of the HONOR Magic Series, which generated a lot of excitement. The attendees were particularly impressed with the cutting-edge features of the two revolutionary smartphones, such as the Falcon Capture Algorithm found in the HONOR Magic5 Pro and the Super-Light Gearless Hinge Technology featured in the HONOR Magic Vs.
Similarly, the HONOR Magic5 Pro utilized its exceptional Falcon Capture Algorithms and AI Motion Sensing to achieve a Guinness World Records challenger’s highest point in the “World’s challenger’s highest point in the “World’s Highest Between the Legs Slam Dunk.” Additionally, the HONOR Magic5 Pro achieved the Camera Gold Label from DXO Global Ranking, making it the first camera to break a score of 150. It also claimed the top spot in the DXOMARK Display Global Rankings.
The HONOR Magic5 Pro, the newest addition to the Magic Series lineup, offers remarkable advancements in design, display, photography, and performance, surpassing various industry standards and presenting the ultimate flagship smartphone available in the market today.
The Falcon Capture system in the all-new HONOR Magic5 Pro delivers remarkable enhancements to the startup speed, focus speed, shutter reaction, and imaging speed, resulting in a 102% increase in the startup, 245% in focus, 147% in the shutter, and 118% in imaging speed compared to the previous generation. With the AI Motion Sensing Capture feature, the camera on the HONOR Magic5 Pro can accurately recognize various scenarios, intelligently identify the highlight point in each scenario, and automatically capture the perfect moment for users.
HONOR Magic5 Pro is equipped with an Ultra HD triple camera system, featuring a primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture. This advanced camera system delivers images with exceptional sharpness, improved exposure, and a more extensive dynamic range. It’s impossible not to mention the HONOR Magic5 Pro’s incredible Quad-Curve Floating Screen, which boasts an exquisite design featuring harmonious bezels on both sides. The back cover of the smartphone also features a striking Star Wheel Triple Camera Design that sits as the centerpiece, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal of the device.
The HONOR Magic5 Pro provides a seamless user experience with its super-sized 5100mAh battery. Additionally, the flagship model runs on the latest MagicOS 7.1 based on Android 13, offering smart features such as MagicRing for cross-device collaboration and Magic Text for intelligent text recognition.
As HONOR’s very first foldable flagship to debut outside of China, the HONOR Magic Vs pushes industry benchmarks for design, display, performance, and user experience. It is the perfect companion for jet-setting entrepreneurs as well as those who put mobile entertainment above all else.
Measuring just 12.9mm when folded and weighing only 267g in weight, the HONOR Magic Vs is exceptionally slim and lightweight. This is due to the innovative Super-light Gearless Hinge, which is crafted using single-piece casting processing technology, resulting in a streamlined supporting structure of the hinge with only 4 components instead of 92.
Contributing to the light weight of the hinge is also the material used – a special aerospace-grade polymeric material that is 62% lighter than commonly used metals. At the same time, the lightweight yet robust material enables the hinge to withstand over 400,000 folds, equivalent to more than ten years of use with 100 folds per day, setting a new benchmark for foldable smartphone design.
The use of this ultra-light material, one that is commonly used for submarine pipelines and spacecraft, is a testament to HONOR’s commitment to quality. The HONOR Magic Vs is equipped with a 5000mAh battery, making it the foldable smartphone with the largest battery capacity currently available on the market. This device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform, which provides improved GPU and CPU performance and greater power efficiency, resulting in a faster and smoother user experience.
The HONOR Magic Vs is equipped with an impressive triple camera system comprising a 54MP IMX800 Main Camera, a 50MP Ultra-Wide & Macro Main Camera, and an 8MP 3X Optical Zoom Camera.

PS5 Anniversary Update Intros Retro Themes Celebrating Every PlayStation Generation
Sony has delighted gamers with a nostalgic surprise to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. In addition to retro hardware that quickly sold out, Sony has released a software update that adds classic boot screens and themes for each generation of PlayStation console. Upon launching the update, users will be prompted to select their favourite generation, with options ranging from the PS1 to the PS4.
This update changes the PS5 dashboard’s menu colours and sounds to match the chosen console’s user interface. Additionally, players can explore other themes through the new “PlayStation 30th Anniversary” item in the settings menu.
However, these themes are available only for a limited time. Sony has not specified when they will be removed, but the decision to make them temporary has raised some eyebrows. While creating a perception of scarcity or avoiding clutter in the settings menu might be strategic, it could be seen as a missed opportunity to let users permanently enjoy the nostalgic themes.
This isn’t the first time Sony has indulged in retro charm. A decade ago, during PlayStation’s 20th anniversary, a free theme transformed the PS4, PS3, and Vita to reflect the PS1’s look and startup sound. As Sony celebrates three decades of gaming excellence, fans are once again treated to a trip down memory lane.

Apple to Retain Titanium Frame for iPhone 17 Pro Series, Says Leaker
According to a recent leak from Weibo user “Instant Digital,” next year’s iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will retain their titanium chassis, contrary to earlier reports suggesting that Apple might shift to aluminium for its 2025 lineup. The Information’s Wayne Ma had previously indicated that Apple’s flagship iPhone 17 Pro models could be the first high-end iPhones to feature an aluminium frame since the lineup’s split into Pro and non-Pro models.
Historically, high-end iPhone models used stainless steel frames until the iPhone 15 Pro introduced a titanium chassis, which was touted as a significant upgrade. However, Ma’s report suggested a return to aluminium for the entire iPhone 17 lineup. Instant Digital, however, disagrees, stating on Weibo (via machine translation), “Of course, the iPhone 17 Pro will still use titanium. Why would anyone believe it would switch to aluminium? Think about it — it’s just not possible. Looking back at recent iPhone models, Apple has consistently emphasized the premium frame materials of the Pro series as one of its key selling points, from ‘surgical-grade stainless steel’ to ‘titanium.’ If they switched to aluminium, how could they even market it?”
The Weibo leaker’s claims, however, lack verification from supply chain information, and Ma’s report details a significant design change involving an aluminium upper back with a rectangular camera bump made of aluminium instead of traditional 3D glass, while the bottom half would remain glass to support wireless charging. Apple has a history of introducing and then discontinuing breakthrough features in its iPhones. For example, the 3D Touch feature introduced with the iPhone 6s in 2015 was phased out with the iPhone 11 in 2019.
Despite Instant Digital’s mixed accuracy record with Apple rumours, the leaker has made some accurate predictions, such as the Yellow iPhone 14 launch in 2023, the frosted back glass on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the minor refresh for the Apple Watch Series 9, and other notable features. The iPhone 17 series is expected to debut in the fall of 2025, featuring new display sizes, a rumoured ultra-thin model, and ProMotion displays across the lineup. As always, the anticipation for Apple’s latest innovations continues to build.
