Review: Corsair HS65 Wireless

The Corsair HS65 Wireless builds upon its predecessor, the HS65 Surround, offering a similar wearing and user experience. However, the new iteration distinguishes itself with the inclusion of a wireless USB dongle and Bluetooth support.
In terms of design, the Corsair HS65 Wireless maintains a familiar aesthetic. The gaming headset is available in black and white colour options – the one reviewed here is the white variant. It comes with an attached microphone and ear cups that can rotate and lay flat. If you have experience with recent Corsair HS gaming headsets, you’ll find this one to be quite familiar.
The headset features a plastic headband that may feel slightly tight, but this tightness ensures a secure fit. The memory foam ear pads are covered in leatherette on the sides, while a soft elastic fabric makes contact with your face. Overall, the comfort level is very good.
The Corsair HS65 Wireless offers a straightforward set of on-ear controls, with a limited range of functions. There is a power button, a Bluetooth pairing button, a volume dial, and a microphone that automatically mutes when flipped up. These controls are intuitive and require no further explanation.
Integration with Corsair’s iCUE companion app adds an extra layer of functionality to the HS65 Wireless. While it doesn’t boast an abundance of features, it is still worth installing for firmware updates and basic customization options. The app provides a 10-band EQ for personalized sound adjustments, along with pre-set EQ profiles tailored for different activities.
You can also fine-tune microphone volume and sidetone settings. Furthermore, iCUE offers two distinct additional features. The first is NVIDIA Broadcast, a suite of microphone options specifically designed to clean up or eliminate background noise during live streams. However, these features are only accessible if your PC is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card or higher.
The second feature is SoundID, which aims to create a personalised audio profile based on your preferences. Upon opening the SoundID menu, a series of sounds will play, and the app will build an EQ profile based on your preferred choices, similar to a short AB test. Once the test is completed, you can toggle the profile on and off as desired. It’s important to note that when SoundID is active, the iCUE equalizer settings cannot be used simultaneously.
According to Corsair, on paper, the HS65 Wireless provides up to 24 hours of playback time. However, during our review period, it significantly surpassed this claim. During a continuous session of playing music at a peak volume of 75dB (SPL), the HS65 Wireless astonishingly lasted for over 30 hours.
The Corsair HS65 Wireless truly shines in terms of sound quality. Similar to its wired counterpart, the HS65 Wireless delivers excellent sound quality that skillfully balances bass, treble, and voice reproduction. During my testing of various games, I found the audio experience to be thoroughly enjoyable. The headset excelled in rendering crisp and impactful voicework.
Furthermore, the HS65 Wireless offers a plethora of tools to fine-tune sound quality, making it even more impressive. The inclusion of Sonarworks’ SoundID is a game-changer, allowing you to compare audio samples and create a personalized soundscape tailored to your preferences, as mentioned earlier. SoundID significantly enhances the audio quality across various content types, including games, TV shows, movies, and music. This feature alone provides a compelling reason to consider investing in a Corsair headset.
Additionally, the HS65 Wireless offers the flexibility to experiment with different equalisation presets or create your own, enabling further customisation of the audio output. Moreover, the headset allows you to enhance your microphone sound through Nvidia Broadcast, adding another layer of audio improvement to your overall experience.
Price: $149
Corsair HS65 Wireless $149
Summary
The Corsair HS65 Wireless offers a straightforward set of on-ear controls, with a limited range of functions. There is a power button, a Bluetooth pairing button, a volume dial, and a microphone that automatically mutes when flipped up. These controls are intuitive and require no further explanation.

HUAWEI Intros Open-Ear FreeArc Earbuds

Huawei has launched its latest audio innovation, the HUAWEI FreeArc, further solidifying its leadership in the fast-growing open-ear wearables segment. Designed for comfort and situational awareness, the FreeArc offers a secure, pressure-free fit without blocking the ear canal—catering to users who demand high-quality audio without sacrificing awareness of their surroundings.
Open-ear earbuds, which sit outside the ear rather than inside it, have surged in popularity due to their comfort and safety benefits, particularly for fitness enthusiasts, commuters, and professionals. According to Canalys, global shipments of open-ear headphones reached nearly 8 million units in Q3 2024—a staggering fourfold increase from the same period last year.
Huawei has been at the forefront of this shift. The company ranked first in global wearable shipments for the first three quarters of 2024 (IDC), backed by its extensive audio R&D network—including seven research centers, over 1,000 audio specialists, and more than 250 patents. Its first open-ear model, the HUAWEI FreeClip, has already surpassed 2 million units shipped worldwide, demonstrating strong consumer demand for innovative wearable audio solutions.
Huawei’s journey in open-ear wearables began in 2019 with its collaboration with Gentle Monster on HUAWEI Eyewear, blending fashion with cutting-edge audio technology. The FreeClip, launched later, marked Huawei’s entry into the Open Wireless Stereo (OWS) category, featuring a flexible C-bridge design for a lightweight, breathable fit.
Now, the FreeArc takes this legacy further as Huawei’s first open-ear earbuds with earhooks. Built with a nickel-titanium alloy frame, the new model enhances stability and adaptability for a wider range of ear shapes while retaining the signature C-bridge comfort. Engineered for active lifestyles, the FreeArc boasts an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance, making it ideal for workouts, travel, and daily commutes. Key enhancements include:
- High-sensitivity drivers for crisp, balanced sound
- Dual-Resonator Antenna for stronger connectivity
- Wind-resistant microphones for clearer calls in outdoor environments
With the FreeArc, Huawei continues to refine its open-ear offerings, combining ergonomic design with practical durability.
