Review of the Corsair XENEON FLEX 45WQHD240 Bendable OLED Monitor in the UAE

Published

on

Many companies on the market offer OLED monitors. When OLED panels were initially introduced, they promised the exciting feature of bendability, allowing for the creation of flexible TVs and monitors. While many have introduced smartphones and laptops with foldable screens, not many have succeeded in commercialising that very concept on monitors.

Corsair seems to have taken a pioneering step by introducing the world’s first bendable computer monitor. This device resolves the dilemma of choosing between a flat or curved panel. The Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 offers the best of both worlds. With a width of 45 inches and an aspect ratio of 21:9, it stands as the largest ultra-wide bendable OLED monitor designed for gaming that I have seen this year.

The monitor boasts an impressive bend radius of 800R, signifying a very small curvature. It also packs in exceptional gaming capabilities, including a refresh rate of 240Hz, Adaptive-Sync technology, HDR support, and wide-gamut colour representation.

Corsair’s Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 monitor can be described using a bunch of impressive numbers and specifics. With approximately 5 million pixels, each capable of instantly turning off to produce the deep, rich blacks that OLED technology is renowned for, this monitor delivers exceptional contrast and is equipped with HDR capabilities.

The display also offers an immersive ultrawide resolution of 3440-by-1440 pixels, spanning across a massive 45-inch diagonal screen—this will literally take your visual experience to a whole new level. To achieve the desired curvature, simply extend the handles located on both sides of the monitor, pull the display inward, and shape it according to your preference.

Once you have achieved the desired curve, retract the handles, and the monitor will hold its position securely. If you need to readjust the curvature for a different usage scenario, you can repeat the process at any time. The display requires a significant amount of force to bend, ensuring that once you have set it to your liking, it remains in place and is resistant to accidental knocks.

The bending process itself is smooth and seamless, giving the impression that the display is designed to be flexible. Furthermore, when you bend the display, there are no noticeable creases, resulting in a sleek and uninterrupted visual experience. The Corsair Xeneon Flex monitor offers an exceptionally vibrant and immersive gaming experience that surpasses any I have encountered before, and I have extensively explored various monitors while playing numerous games.

The rear of the monitor is designed with convenience in mind, featuring a centralized strip arrangement for easy accessibility to all the ports. These ports include two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, and a USB-C port that supports DP Alt-Mode. Additionally, there is a separate USB-C upstream port dedicated to facilitating the USB hub, which includes two ports on the rear and two ports on the front, conveniently located for quick access.

This arrangement is made possible by the stand, which cleverly incorporates all the ports. The on-screen display (OSD) can be controlled using a directional toggle, conveniently positioned on the stand alongside the USB ports. The OSD offers a standard set of features without excessive embellishments.

It includes crosshair options, although we advise against using them on an OLED display due to the nature of OLED technology. The monitor also provides a few basic OLED care features such as pixel cleaning and pixel shifting. The motion performance of the Flex is comparable to other OLED displays. With a remarkable 240Hz refresh rate, it achieves elite speeds, resulting in exceptional motion clarity.

The Flex also delivers an impressive performance as it boasts remarkably low input lag. With its exceptional refresh rate, near-instant response times, and high responsiveness, this monitor stands out as a leader in its class. The processing lag is virtually negligible and this exceptional performance holds true in both SDR and HDR modes.

Similar to other OLED panels, the Flex delivers smoother gameplay even at lower frame rates. In my experience, playing Call of Duty WWII, I achieved around 160fps, which I think is impressive. In addition, the image quality was stunning, with vibrant colours, true blacks, and deep contrast.

Having experienced numerous gaming monitors, I can confidently say that the Corsair XENEON FLEX 45WQHD240 Bendable OLED Monitor ranks among the very best. It perfectly suits my casual gaming style and skill level, but it is also highly appealing to players of all abilities, including competitive professionals. Its versatility and exceptional performance make it a top choice for a wide variety of gamers.
