Samsung Unveils New OLED Models in Odyssey Gaming Monitor Series at CES 2024

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has unveiled its latest lineup of Odyssey OLED gaming monitors at CES 2024, the world’s premier tech event organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) in Las Vegas. Set to debut next week, the new OLED models, including the Odyssey OLED G9 (Model Name: G95SD), Odyssey OLED G8 (Model Name: G80SD), and Odyssey OLED G6 (Model Name: G60SD), promise exceptional performance and visual clarity, catering to the preferences of avid gamers.

The Odyssey OLED G9 boasts a 49″ curved ultra-wide display with DQHD (5,120×1,440) resolution, a 32:9 aspect ratio, and various enhanced features. Meanwhile, the Odyssey OLED G8 stands out as Samsung’s inaugural flat 32-inch OLED gaming monitor, offering 4K UHD (3,840×2,160) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Both monitors share a 240Hz refresh rate and an impressive 0.03ms GTG response time.

The Odyssey OLED G6, a 27″ QHD (2,560×1,440) monitor, supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, featuring a remarkable 360Hz refresh rate and the same 0.03ms GTG response time. These monitors collectively represent Samsung’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology to meet the high standards of the gaming community.

“Along with game genres, gaming platforms are getting more diverse,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung’s new OLED Odyssey gaming monitors will empower gamers with more immersive game environments and innovative technology that personalizes their gaming experiences — meeting and exceeding their evolving needs.”

All three latest models incorporate OLED Glare-Free technology, reducing light reflections to enhance the viewing experience without the need for additional equipment. This ensures users can play games with consistent brightness and colour in various lighting conditions. The monitors, equipped with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, deliver exceptional details and vivid colours irrespective of the displayed game or content. They also support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring ultra-smooth, low-latency HDR gaming.

These monitors offer extensive physical connectivity, featuring two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and a DisplayPort 1.4 input. Users benefit from added comfort and convenience with VESA mount compatibility and a Height Adjustable Stand (HAS) that includes tilt, swivel, and pivot control points.

Introducing Multi Control, the Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 facilitate seamless device connectivity for an improved multi-device experience. Users can effortlessly transfer images and text between their Samsung monitor and other Samsung devices, such as their Galaxy Book, tablet, or phone, enhancing work efficiency using a mouse and keyboard.

Moreover, the Odyssey OLED G9 and Odyssey OLED G8 are equipped with the Samsung SmartThings Hub, allowing users to connect to various IoT devices compatible with Matter and the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) for device control. Serving as all-in-one entertainment hubs, these monitors, with the Samsung Smart TV platform and Samsung Gaming Hub, provide access to streaming and cloud gaming services without requiring downloads, storage, or a PC/console.

Samsung introduces flat OLED options to the Odyssey lineup for the first time, incorporating a 16:9 aspect ratio into the Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6. These new models feature the slim metal design characteristic of the Odyssey OLED lineup, along with the new Core Lighting+ that seamlessly integrates with the slim bezel. Core Lighting+ immerses users in their gaming and entertainment environments by emitting ambient light from the back of the monitor. The lighting circle, now four times slimmer than the previous model (G95SC), blends seamlessly with the 3.9mm metal bezel. Additionally, the new slim metal stand adopts a tool-free assembly structure, using a 3mm metal plate that complements the display design and frees up space for other devices.

With Intel Core Ultra 9 or AMD Ryzen AI 9 processors, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and NVIDIA Blackwell GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, it promises smooth and responsive gameplay. Enhanced thermal management, sleek design, and customizable RGB features make it a standout choice.

The OMEN 32x Smart Gaming Monitor, HP’s first Google TV-enabled gaming monitor, offers a 4K UHD 144Hz display, seamless device switching, and the ability to stream directly from the display.

HyperX’s new Pulsefire Saga series introduces shape modularity, offering up to 16 combinations for a customized gaming experience. The Saga Pro model features dual wireless connectivity and Instant Pair with OMEN laptops.
