Jabra Launches Two Premium True Wireless Earbuds

Published

on

Jabr has launched two new premium earbuds in its Elite true wireless earbuds range. The Jabra Elite 8 Active, tested to be the world’s toughest earbuds, and the Elite 10, Jabra’s most advanced earbuds for work and life with clear calls, all-day comfort and optimised to deliver a more immersive Dolby Atmos experience through Dolby Head Tracking.

Jabra’s new addition to its active range, the Elite 8 Active, will set a new standard for durability and fit. Built for much more than running or sports, they are designed to be durable enough for users regardless of what they choose to do and wherever life takes them. The Elite 8 Active buds pass all the required tests for the US Military Standard for Ruggedized Electronics (810H).

That is everything from humidity and high temperature to rain and altitude. They are completely watertight when submerged up to 1.5m. – they are IP68 rated, meaning that they are fully dust and waterproof, whilst the charging case is IP54 rated to be dust and splashproof. In addition, we put Elite 8 Active through its paces with Highly Accelerated Corrosion Testing (HACT). This requires the earbuds to pass 11 full cycles of testing, including enduring 2 hours in 40°C temperatures with 93% humidity, going through a 15-minute splash test in salt water, and surviving a 15-minute 40°C heat drying test, to successfully prove their anti-corrosion credentials. All of this whilst staying secure in the ear with the improved grip provided by Jabra ShakeGrip technology.

While Jabra Elite 8 Active earbuds are proud to be tough, they have not sacrificed their sound, or aesthetic. They are made to fuel workouts with incredible sound thanks to Dolby Audio, which delivers lifelike, clear sound for a longer and more comfortable listening experience. The Adaptive Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) automatically optimizes the ANC performance to the environment you’re in. Wind Neutralizing HearThrough technology also muffles any wind interference without blocking out traffic, ensuring safety without compromising on steady sound.

With 6-mic call technology and wind noise protecting mesh, stable smartwatch connectivity, Google Assistant, Fast Pair, Swift Pair and Spotify Tap, and battery life for up to 8 hours (32hours with a case), these earbuds are just as good for working as for working out. Jabra’s new top-of-the-line Elite 10 earbuds promise the best combination of comfort, sound and calls anywhere, for both work and life. These true wireless earbuds, which are optimized for enjoying content in Dolby Atmos, are truly immersive and Jabra’s first earbuds to support Dolby Head Tracking.

Dolby Head Tracking engages listeners in a whole new way by keeping them in the centre of the soundstage as they move their heads, enabling a more natural sound experience for all your favourite entertainment, including both Dolby Atmos and stereo content. And when available, the combination of Dolby Head Tracking together with Dolby Atmos content further elevates the sound with incredible detail and clarity for the ultimate Dolby Atmos listening experience.

Elite 10 also eliminates surrounding noise with Jabra Advanced Active Noise CancellationTM. The ultra-powerful ANC auto-adjusts for what’s around you. This is achieved by infrasonic waves that measure the ear canal and algorithms which detect noise leakage and wind conditions. As a result, the earbuds will automatically switch to the highest ANC gain in noisier environments and reduce the gain in quiet places.

Designed with learnings from Elite 7 Pro for fit and Elite 85t for all-day wearing comfort, the Elite 10 is the first in Jabra’s true wireless earbuds range to offer Jabra ComfortFit technology for the most natural, airy fit and less occlusion, due to its semi-open design that relieves ear pressure, allowing users to walk and talk in comfort. Every surface the ear touches is made of soft silicon for a snug fit, meaning less wearing fatigue for all-day use. These earbuds are also designed to cater for more ear shapes and sizes than ever before.

The Elite 10 is complete with 6-mic call technology for crystal-clear calls, a 6-hour battery (27 hours with case), a pocket-friendly cradle optimised for wireless charging, Bluetooth Multipoint connection, hands-free voice assistance and easy pairing.

Calum MacDougall, SVP at Jabra, said, “Jabra has been successful by identifying user needs and then applying our unique audio engineering capabilities to meet those needs. For Elite 10, we focused on comfort, calls and music performance to meet the need for all-day use from music to meetings. For Elite 8 Active, we meet the need for users to be confident to use their earbuds, wherever they are, from work to work-out”

Javier Foncillas, VP of Commercial Partnerships & Global Sales at Dolby Laboratories said, “Dolby innovations have redefined how entertainment is created and experienced for consumers across the world. We share Jabra’s passion and ambition for quality, and the combination of the new hero Elite range together with Dolby’s latest audio innovations like Dolby Head Tracking and Dolby Audio are a perfect match.”

Elite 8 Active is available for AED 699/SAR 749, in caramel, navy, black and dark grey, while the Elite 10 is available for AED 849/SAR 899, in cream, cocoa, titanium black, gloss black, and matte black.

TOZO NC9 Earbuds Review: Budget ANC Earbuds With a Battery Display

Published

on

The TOZO NC9 is a pair of true wireless earbuds featuring Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a sleek design, and solid audio performance at a competitive price. TOZO has built a reputation for delivering affordable yet capable audio gear, but does the NC9 stand out in a market flooded with budget ANC options? Let’s take a closer look.

Design and Build Quality
The TOZO NC9 adopts a minimalist in-ear design. The earbuds have a matte finish that resists fingerprints and smudges, maintaining a clean look even with frequent use. Each earbud weighs just 5 grams, making them comfortable for extended wear, and they come with three pairs of silicone ear tip sizes to ensure a secure fit.

The charging case is compact and pocket-friendly, featuring a smooth, pebble-like shape with a satisfying magnetic snap closure. While the build is primarily plastic—expected at this price—the overall feel is sturdy and well-constructed.

One of the standout features of the charging case is that it has an LED display on the front that shows the battery level of the case and the earbuds. Another notable highlight is the IPX6 water resistance, which makes the NC9 resistant to sweat and light rain, adding durability for workouts and outdoor use.

Technical Specifications
The TOZO NC9 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring a stable connection with minimal latency. It features Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation, capable of reducing ambient noise by up to 35dB, and is powered by 9mm dynamic drivers for audio output.

While the earbuds support SBC and AAC codecs, the absence of aptX or LDAC means audiophiles may miss higher-resolution streaming. Battery life is solid, offering up to 6 hours of playback with ANC enabled (24 hours with the case) and 9 hours without ANC (40 hours with the case). Charging is handled via USB-C, with a full recharge taking about two hours, and the case also supports wireless charging for added convenience. Touch controls are fully customizable through the TOZO companion app, allowing users to tailor gestures for playback, calls, and ANC modes.

Audio Performance
The 9mm dynamic drivers deliver a V-shaped sound signature, emphasizing bass and treble while slightly recessing the mids. This tuning makes the NC9 particularly well-suited for bass-heavy genres such as EDM, hip-hop, and pop, though vocals and acoustic instruments may not be as pronounced as on more neutral-sounding earbuds.

The bass response is punchy and deep without becoming muddy, while the treble remains crisp, though it can get slightly harsh at higher volumes. The midrange is clear but not as forward as some listeners might prefer, which may affect the naturalness of voices and certain instruments.

When it comes to Active Noise Cancellation, the NC9 performs admirably for its price, effectively dampening low-frequency noises such as airplane engines, traffic, and air conditioning. However, higher-pitched sounds (such as chatter or barking dogs) are less effectively blocked. The Transparency Mode works well, allowing external sounds to pass through clearly when needed.

Battery Indicator Screen
One of the standout features of the NC9, as mentioned before, is its LED battery percentage display on the charging case. Unlike many budget earbuds that rely on vague LED indicators, this small screen provides an exact remaining charge percentage, eliminating guesswork and ensuring you always know how much battery is left.

Additional Features
The TOZO companion app enhances the user experience by allowing customization of the EQ, touch controls, and ANC settings. A low-latency mode helps reduce audio lag for gaming and video watching, though some minor delay may still be noticeable.

The earbuds also support multi-point connectivity, enabling simultaneous pairing with two devices—a useful feature for switching between a phone and laptop. Pairing is quick and hassle-free, with most devices recognizing the NC9 instantly.

Verdict
The TOZO NC9 delivers very good ANC performance for its price, along with a comfortable, secure fit and IPX6 water resistance. The battery life is solid, and the inclusion of wireless charging and a battery percentage display adds convenience rarely seen in budget earbuds. Sound quality is energetic and bass-forward, making these a great choice for casual listeners and commuters.

While the ANC is effective for low-frequency noise, it struggles with higher-pitched sounds. The lack of aptX or LDAC support may disappoint those seeking higher-resolution audio, and the V-shaped tuning might not suit listeners who prefer balanced mids.

If you’re looking for affordable ANC earbuds with good battery life, wireless charging, and a useful battery display, the TOZO NC9 is an excellent choice. However, if you prioritize audiophile-grade sound or stronger ANC for voices and sharp noises, you may want to consider higher-end models.

Pros:
✅ Strong ANC for the price
✅ Good battery life with wireless charging
✅ Clear battery percentage display
✅ Comfortable, secure fit with IPX6 rating
✅ Customizable via TOZO app

Cons:
❌ No aptX/LDAC for high-res audio
❌ Mid-range clarity could be better
❌ ANC struggles with high-frequency noise

Price: AED 150

Summary

When it comes to Active Noise Cancellation, the NC9 performs admirably for its price, effectively dampening low-frequency noises such as airplane engines, traffic, and air conditioning.
